For anyone who may not know, catfish is a new show on mtv that shows stories of online relationships, and ultimately of one person pretending to be someone they aren't. I don't know why I find this show so interesting and I guess people do it for all kinds of reasons so I'm not sure you could really pinpoint similar aspects/placements. But which would you think have to do with it? A Pisces/neptune/12th house thing?

Anyone insecure, vindictive, or manipulative. Strong Pisces/Neptune, afflicted 1st house, strong/afflicted 12th?

When Scorpio is hurt, it generally retaliates one way or another, so that's also a possibility.

I'd bet money that it's mostly (and perhaps totally) fake.

That said, I'd guess either a Pisces ascendant and/or Neptune in the First House would make it easy for someone to do something like that. (I only mean in trying to enter a romantic relationship, not revenge, jokes, and things like that.)

Furthermore, it's my observation that about everyone lies when meeting up, be it in real life or online. From the mouth of babes:

"On the first date, they just tell each other lies and that usually gets them itnerested enough to go for a second date." --Martin, age 10

From a certain philosophical perspective, even how we dress is an attempt to influence and maybe even deceive. People looking to make connections rarely show themselves (either physically or personality wise) as they are in everyday life, and a common complaint is a spouse "changed after the wedding" (when one no longer had to keep up appearances). Of course people put their best face out and likely embellish...and on the net one can take that a lot further (though I think this is usually limited to about the same as real life deception with the addition that someone in their 30s might use a high school pic of him or herself). After all, the goal is to meet up with someone so they're just shooting themselves in the foot if they stray beyond that.

But I have heard of people who felt "so different on the inside" that they created the life they think they were meant for online, such as like a woman who thinks of herself as a gay man and thus starts gay relationships (in a matter of speaking) with other men pretending to be a man because that's how she sees herself and hates being a woman (I've heard of this happening at least twice, btw, and in one case they even got engaged before she was discovered), but I believe that's rare.

I think u r ur 3rd house online. I have a jupitarian disposition online. Neptune idk.. But some online friends said they could see the h3 Neptune. Maybe they find me dreamy lol!

IRL I am very very serious. Saturn in h1. I am not remotely flirty with everyone. Just those who I really like. Actually maybe I just really do like more people here than IRL. I am still a tool tho. honest about that.

I never watch it but I've read about it somewhere. Being Scorpio rising and Neptune in the 1st house, I've never done this to anyone be it online or offline. BUT it has been done to me online a few times, and probably more that I didn't know. I was so trusting I actually used my real name online and found out it was used to send spam emails. It's not hacking so the email server can't do anything about it. The term is spoofed.
Also at the time I used my real photo online. Anyone can download photos and use them as avatars. Who knows what they did to it.

I know at least 4 Pisces males that are malicious, I didn't even know why, but one of them does sound like he hate women. None of them are romantic, I met them at work. I had my revenge when I couldn't stand it anymore. I don't know what their 12th house is. Scorpios can be mysterious, but I don't know if they are malicious. The ones I know at least are not.

After what I went through online I have somewhat resorted to being mysterious too anyway. Not giving real name address photos and such anymore. If I have to, I will use short version of my real name (and even that I found a man on FB with the same name LOL. I'm a woman btw) As in Forum IDs, I try not to be creative, that way if someone copies it and tries to impersonate me online, they will find a whole lot other people using the same ID

I also read somewhere that kids age 13-16 have been pulling 'catfish' online, some just for fun, some as scam for money. So I think more than 'pretentious' also placements for 'personality disorder' Anyone can be vengeful, but not everyone go that far. Anyone can lie, but not everyone can keep a track of so many different lies. Anyone can do a search online, but not everyone stalk and not everyone do it to gather information. I think there is some Air influence in it too.

Someone told me con man placement is Mars-Neptune difficult aspect. I know someone that has Mars square Neptune, but with the rest of his chart I don't think he does this to fool people online. It's just how he is, dreamy and vague. He is never really sure whether it's real or not and if you tell him what is real, he'll make a big deal out of it. He just can't get out of his own world, which is fine if he was acting in a movie, but he wasn't lol

I have never watched the show but I have seen this in action as a mod for a few FB groups and it happens all of the time. Its like live-action theater, things have gotten slightly better with the addition of group meetup, skype and live-chats so you can actually see and meet the people your interacting with. Actually more often people are caught dating multiple people or dating underage member than necessarily lying about their lives. Though that does still happen it still doesn't deter people from interacting with one another on and offline
