Anyone overcome this? Anyone at peace with themselves? I just read my mom's birth chart. Today's her birthday. My mother is a Sagittarius, Aries Moon, Aquarius rising. Her chart is full of spunky, energetic, spontaneous signs, but her hard Saturn-Sun aspect doesn't even let her spark shine... I want to help her true self come out so she can finally relax... I have for the most part! Now all my Sun square Saturn points to is laziness, haha. When I was in middle school I had super low self-esteem. One day it just dawned on me that I had a personality aside from my looks, so I depended on that from there on out. I started making everyone laugh all the time and I felt a lot better about who I was (though the wish to have the same big white teeth and be skinny like all the other girls, or have their skin never really went away.) I have it, and I spit glitter.I think this aspect increased my bluntness, and laziness. When I was younger I had low self-esteem but I've overcome it for the most part. I still carry around a bit of shame with me, but I look forward to when it becomes a part of my past. IP: Logged |

Yeah,i had low self-esteem, it still isnt high or even normal.. And i feel like people just block me out because of these placements..when they see me they just assume I am an arrogant, mean, serious b**** and never even talk to me..Like it wasnt enough for me to have a cappy moon in 1st it also had to SQUARE SATURN grrrrr IP: Logged |

What sign is your Saturn in? and does you Sun square Neptune at all? What I didn't realize about this aspect is how serious it made me. It's really heavy energy but you can change that if you wish. I have to consciously be aware of the tone of my voice, my body language, and what I say. When left unchecked I can turn into a miser in three seconds, and I don't blame people for not wanting to be around that.

pisces 3rd..sextiles neptune..I am not actually like that it's just that people see me..well maybe a bit serious about some things..Like my friends, when they finally get to really know me, tell me they did not expect me to be like this..I feel people are intimidated or scared of me sometimes lol.. I have sun, mercury, venus gemini asc.sagittarius so I am quite fun to be around hahah but people dont notice that at first.. IP: Logged |

Saturn literally aspects EVERYTHING in my chart. It is the worst. quote: Originally posted by hannaramaa: What I didn't realize about this aspect is how serious it made me. THIS. EXACTLY THIS. The square to my Sun is probably one of the hardest ones to deal with. Unlike a lot of people here, I didn't struggle with self-esteem issues (heck yeah, Sun sextile Moon!). However, I have always found it really difficult to make friends. Saturn's in the 11th house of friendships, squaring just about everything in my 7th house stellium. It also sextiles my Taurus Ascendant, and trines Taurus' ruler, Venus, which opposes my Ascendant. So I have a LOT of problems making friends. I come off as way too serious and introverted and stand-offish, even though I'm really not. I look like I hate everyone. I act like I don't want to make friends because I am terrible at the basic steps of making friends. (Small talk is the absolute WORST! But otherwise you come on way too strong - thanks to my really intense Scorpio stellium in the 7th house - and scare people off. Lose-lose situation.) The Saturn-Sun square comes into play because I really love having friends! But I'm really terrible at making/maintaining casual friendships. I end up socially awkward and it gets really lonely. It doesn't help that Saturn is currently transiting my 7th house, and all of my best friends are off in colleges in different states, and community colleges SUCK for making friends because at the end of every semester TONS of people leave, so I feel totally alone. I have the trine between Sun and Saturn, it's almost exact but separating and I am pretty low energy/ low key but I am happy this way Does your mom long to be different from who she is? Maybe it's because it's the square and denotes a dissatisfaction with how things are. IP: Logged |

Oh damn, it definitely doesn't help that you have this aspect with Scorpio influences. You probably feel like a walking flesh wound, huh? I didn't realize it 'til you said something but I've always had a hard time connecting with people too. I think Saturnine individuals always want or expect honest friendships and in this day and age that is really hard to find. I think there's a plus to Saturn squares though. They give you maturity beyond your years which tends to be noticed on it's own. You can use the square to your advantage by being more responsible than those your age, more dependable, etc. What else do loners have to do but educate themselves and be on time to work? It's a blessing in disguise since you'll be set for life around the time everyone is scrambling trying to figure out how it all works. That is, if you put in the required effort. IP: Logged |

Exactly! Sincere friendships are really difficult to find. Do you find that you put a lot of stock into the friendships that you do have? Yeah, the Scorpio influence also makes me really aware of EVERYTHING people do. Normally I can ignore it, but I'll have days where I'm terribly (and very unusually) paranoid. "Why is everyone looking at me funny??? Did I sit in something? What I said wasn't super weird was it? STOP LOOKING AT ME LIKE THAT." Meanwhile everyone else is just thinking "I wonder what I'll eat for lunch?" And it makes me really suspicious of anyone who suddenly approaches me looking to make friends. I suppose there is a greater maturity, which should be good in professional endeavors, but that seriousness that I give off makes it a little hard to attract people that I like. I think it catches a lot of people off-guard. IP: Logged |

My mom is quirky and creative. As a kid, she wanted to be a hair stylist. She's a huge music head. She also grew up in a very religious home. Because she grew up in such a religious home, I always felt like she's been restricted from her potential. Now that I'm into astrology I know that that restrictions are from Saturn! She never felt like she had the potential to be anything but a worker-bee...ugh IP: Logged |

My mom has always been under her own pressure of doing things "right"when she never followed her own Sagittarian spirit. I cannot imagine being a Sagittarius sun, Aries moon AND an Aquarius rising with such a restriction! IP: Logged |

you shouldnt feel that way. i have sun/saturn conjunct and i can be very serious and reserved. i rarely smile and i'm far from enthusiastic. sure some people give me sh*t about it and say stuff like" smile , be more enthusiastic." but thats just not how i am, i'm never gonna be that way, but ya know what? i have friends who accept me for who i am, screw other people lol.

See, the difference between the square and the conjunction is that I AM enthusiastic - very much so, in fact! - but the Saturn influence causes and uncomfortable conflict of seriousness with the Sun's energy. Your conjunction energy clearly works together to some degree, but Saturn squaring a happy-go-lucky, notoriously irresponsible Sagittarius Sun? Not so much. IP: Logged |

Oooh now I see. What I meant is I don't blame anyone for not wanting to be around negativity in general, not necessarily me specifically. IP: Logged |

well being serious and reserved doesnt have to mean negativity, even though the world sees it that way lol. its a huge misconception imo. IP: Logged |

I have an exact Saturn square Sun aspect. It used to hurt me a lot. But i think i'm on my way to overcome it! I have become much more open, friendly and outgoing, step by step i have come to find friends that i enjoy being with, and they enjoy to be with me! I don't think i have a low self esteem, because i like myself very much, indeed. But at the same time, i need to be appreciated. It's a desire i long for, for people to appreciate what i do, who i am, etc. I guess, maybe other aspects are making this a bit easier to me - i don't seem too rigid and stiff because Neptune is my comrade - it touches everything in my chart. I basically live in the clouds, no way are people seeing me as a rational and down-to-earth. Also Venus - Mars exact trine gives me very good impression, given Moon sextiles with Venus and Mars as well. So you have to look for other aspects that may be a help! It's not always so bad with this Saturn square, i bet. I wonder, if i didn't have this Saturn square, what would i be like? No, seriously, maybe it just gives me some structure, because with all these Neptune contacts, if not Saturn, what else could keep me at least a bit down to earth? I would fly away along with the comets. IP: Logged |
