Oh wow, I have so many I know I'll think of more after I post this

"Vincit qui si vincent" (He who conquers, conquers himself) - I am about to have this tattooed

"You have enemies? Good. Thats means you have stood up for something, sometime in your life" - Sir Winston Churchill

"We do not learn by doing, we learn by doing and realising what came of what we did" - John Dewey

"People are like the moon, we all have our dark side" - Mark Twain

I am not entirely sure which of my aspects/placements would be relevant, but I would suggest;
Mercury in Pisces 8th house,

8th house Sun/Mars conjunct,

12th house Jupiter opposite Venus,

Mercury trine Uranus and Jupiter

When I was a kid, I used to ask "Why?" or "What is...?" alot. And I do mean, alot. Those had to be my favorite phrases, along with : "That's not fair!", which I used whenever I saw something out in the world that I thought was f*cked up or unjust, or even just during times when I had to split a cookie or whatever with a sibling and I thought they got the bigger half instead of an equal split.

Mercury quintile Pluto, 8th house stellium.

Four planets in Libra (including the moon).

In my early and mid 20s my favorite phrases were probably along the lines of "You and what army?", and "I hate rules".

Mars square Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto

Aquarius Ascendant, Uranus conjunct Midheaven; Uranus quintile Venus

My favorite quotes and phrases, right now? My life tends to run in 'themes', and I won't really be able to answer this question accurately in hindsight, years from now when I'm in a totally different headspace and have changed again.

"We live as we dream, alone."

"Ideals are like stars. You will not succeed in touching them with
your hands. But, like the seafaring man on the desert of waters,
you choose them as your guides and following them you will reach your
destiny."

"Knowing your own darkness is the best method for dealing with the darknesses of other people."

Oh my god, I am a quote machine! I mean... if it looked alright I would have quotes tattooed all over my body. All over. I love thoughts, words, ideas. TOTAL Gemini ASC in that case. I asked the five W's a lot when I was younger. Still do now, always curious. I also have always been focused on civil rights, never having understood why we can't give everyone what they want (in moderation.)

"It is by the grace of me you never learned what I could see." - Fiona Apple.

"After all this time the sun never says to the moon 'You owe me.' Look what happens with a love like that. It can light up the whole sky." - Anonymous.

"“This is what you shall do; Love the earth and sun and the animals, despise riches, give alms to every one that asks, stand up for the stupid and crazy...re-examine all you have been told at school or church or in any book, dismiss whatever insults your own soul, and your very flesh shall be a great poem." - Walt Whitman, and that's an excerpt from Leaves of Grass I believe.

"Take the first step in faith. You do not have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step." - Martin Luther King.

"When I despair, I remember all through history the ways of truth and love have always won..." - Mahatmat Ghandi.

"I'd rather be a rising ape than a falling angel." - Terry Pratchett

"Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence in society." - Mark Twain (fellow Sag!)

"In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry, and has been widely regarded as a bad idea." - Douglas Adams

"I am a citizen of the universe, and a gentleman to boot!" - The First Doctor

"Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them." - Shakespeare, Twelfth Night

"Cowards die many times before their deaths; the valiant never taste of death but once." - Shakespeare, Julius Ceasar (This was my senior yearbook quote!)

Mercury: Scorpio 28*
Jupiter: Scorpio 28* (conjunct Mercury, obviously.)
3H in Gemini, but empty.

I think my fondness for most of these (particular the satire!) is from the wide Sun/Mercury/Jupiter/Pluto conjunction I have. (Sun at Sag 6*.)

So the Sag ruler Jupiter's conjunction with Mercury in particular makes me fond of either the very witty quotes or the very grandiose.

so many...

4h Sagittarius stellium Jupiter-Neptune-Mercury(Capricorn), sextile 3h Scorpio Mars-Pluto --- 9h Taurus Moon bQ Neptune-Jupiter trine 5h Capricorn Sun
-------------------------------------------

quote:

The worst thing you can do to a kid is tell them that their dreams are invalid.

--- Juliette Lewis

quote:

What a strange thing man is; and what a stranger thing woman.

---- Byron

quote:

If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?

---- Alice - Lewis Carol

quote:

My teacher said once that every man faces seven enemies in his lifetime. Sickness, hunger, betrayal, envy, greed, old age, and then death...

--- Osamu Tezuka

quote:

It is not good to settle into a set of opinions.
It is a mistake to put forth effort and obtain some
understanding and then stop at that. At first putting forth
great effort to be sure that you have grasped the basics,
then practicing so that they may come to fruition is
something that will never stop for your whole lifetime.
Do not rely on following the degree of understanding that
you have discovered, but simply think, "This is not enough."

-- hagakure (trn: W.S. Wilson)

quote:
We are only falsehood, duplicity, contradiction; we both conceal and disguise ourselves from ourselves.

- Blaise Pascal

quote:
You will do foolish things, but do them with enthusiasm.

-Sidonie Gabrielle Colette

quote:
Is life not a thousand times too short for us to bore ourselves?

---- Friedrich Nietzsche

quote:
Girls are so queer you never know what they mean. They say No when they mean Yes, and drive a man out of his wits for the fun of it.

---- Louisa May Alcott

(ahem) - and someone to someone... some sir or other... when getting my goat~ *riddlemethis*

(this Lady!)

Caroline Lamb --- of Lord Byron

quote:

mad, bad & dangerous to know

(a historic case of destructive Plutonic chemistry)

Pardon this long one - a note from Lady Caroline Lamb, displaying her quirky Scorpion humour, no doubt...

quote:
I have scribbled over a bit of paper without in the least intending it; so, as you profess to like these odd twists of my pen, I shall answer your note with this truly edifying frontierpiece. -

If I were alone to consider my own interest, it is to bear all very gently, be very friendly, say nothing, think nothing, feel nothing; but studying the present very unbecoming French fashion, to join my cousin the ambassador, make love to everyone in power, look askance at those who are not, and climb up that slippery rock from which I chose to throw myself down as in an avalanche or parachute - quite plump; - the only question being into which pond, lake, or chasm I like to rest. But it is not my character, and the torrent will take its course. I go, therefore, off, and you will probably see among the dead, in some newspaper - Died on her voyage to Bonneberga Hague, Lady Caroline Lamb, of the disease called death; her time being come, and she being predestinarian.

...she gets little credit. But, I just love her writings dearly... and hope to, maybe bring some awareness to her talent instead of her obsession, which is all she's really been recognized for over the centuries.

"Hill House has stood for 90 years and might stand for 90 more. Within, walls continue upright, bricks meet, floors are firm, and doors are sensibly shut. Silence lies steadily against the wood and stone of Hill House. And we who walk here... walk alone." (Eleanor Lance in "The Haunting"-1963)

"Expect the unexpected." (Current adaptation of Heraclitus's & O. Wilde's original quotes)

"I am - how shall I pursue it - a sort of vagabond of space. I am the point of contact between time and eternity."

'"Why do men fear my coming?"
"You have 10 minutes more of life. After that, what can you give her? Sleep, perhaps?
"And the release of dreams, and beyond that... there are no words by which to tell you."
"But that is death to us. And to her!"
"A word that you've been taught to fear. A symbol of the unknown. Because of that word, you would keep her from me. I would only lead her through the gateway to the life that lies beyond."'

"Then there is a love that casts out fear... and I have found it! Love is greater than illusion and as strong as death!" (Death in "Death Takes a Holiday"-1934)
