You have to look beyond them being empty and see where the rulers are, and where the natural rulers are and how each is represented/aspected...

I have 8h Aries - empty (save for a bundle of asteroids) - I have it's ruler in 3h Scorpio - it is cnj Pluto, and sxt to Nep-Jup in (4h Sag) Merc (4h Cap)....

So from that you can deduce that 8h issues are prominent in these areas - I have pluto-cnj mars in scorpio --- if there's money to be had and secrets to take to my grave about where I stash it.... yeah... it's there... if and I'm -ahem- not even going to go into what relation that has with my sex life... you can guess... MiS - ^^;

having an empty house doesn't mean you are any less effected by those issues... it means you seek to fulfill those desires and discover them in different areas/facets of your life or personality...

3h is neighborhoods, lower level academics, siblings... so my 8h issues are tied into that... instead of purely functioning for the things which we associate with the house normally... there's short distance travel, and studying, and kinship/community - that brings me closer to my 8h desires... that's what I'm trying to explain... hehe

My 11h is also void of planetary tenants... or so it would seem... my 11th is ruled by Cancer - the Moon - the Moon is in Taurus h9 - I make friends who are far away, and they feed me yummy exotic foods.... :x jkjk

My friendships are based on and founded on 9h principles... I also have moon trine sun back in Capricorn h5... I have no issues with friendship... And, oddly or not most of my best friends are Cancers... or water signs... Oo; --- I like stable, and close knit groups, but those who understand when I get the urge to just get up and leave for somewhere or start taking that 8 week course in Japanese out in Vancouver, that yeah... that's just me... (so my friends have a very earthly understanding and tend to be practical and aren't the types to bicker usually over anything... here's harmony between the moon and Taurus, and it makes for great friendships, I think...) So, yeah - digressing --- those issues play out in this (bigbig) way - in my experience.

There's also natural rulers and what they're doing... but as I said I have Scorpio (8h natural ruler) with Pluto in h3.... just emphasizing moreso that 8h issues ARE very much active in my life - even if there are no planets in there. ^^

And, 11h is Aquarius ruled naturally, but my Aquarius sits in h5 and h6... I've also had a huge number of significant others who were Aquariuses and a large number of friends and acquaintances who are Aqua dominant/very Uranian... we click very well, and often have things in common that I don't feel with other signs... and those thing... if you can guess. are very 5-6h related! so it makes a lot of sense to look at these natural rulers too, I think~ Uranus is conjunct my Venus in Sag h4... which only adds even more of a bond to between me and those quiet and odd or loud and delightful Aquarian comrades!~

I hope this makes some sense as I'm not good at explaining things all the time... but yesh -

when a house is empty - check where your ruler is stationed and where it has aspects... see if the house it falls in and the signs there have any influence in your life in the area of the empty house... and then, also regard the natural ruler and where it has aspects... how strong are they with your experience, and if they resonate with the empty house issues as well....

That's the best I can do for explaining it...

I'm sure someone here can do it better - so yeah~ haha but- I felt like trying! ^^;

lol no worries~ I have Saturn in 3rd (scorp) as well! Mercury dominant but it's in Capricorn! Does /not/ make things easy~ specially when it comes to telling jokes/being humourous, lemme tell ya~!

My mind goes faster than my fingers can type --- then I end up talking in circles or my thoughts suddenly derail midway through and I forget my point.. XD
