Although Neptune is a generational planet, it has a certain influence on a personal level when in hard aspects with one or more personal planets or when in contact with the sun and moon. Neptune modus operandi remains elusive and foggy for it can leave a trail of destruction that will become apparent only after the damage is done.

I have read that Neptune's position in a natal chart indicates where the person will most likely be deceived by others. It also rules escapism of all kinds, drugs addiction, alcohol dependency.

I have retrograde neptune in 11th H in trine aspects with Mercury, Saturn, Venus. Neptune square mars and sextile pluto.does a retrograde neptune acts the same way?

I have read somewhere on the net that neptune when in aspect with mercury is a mark of a liar! But am actually bluntly honest!

Anyone has retrograde neptune who wants to share some insights?

"NEPTUNE RETROGRADE – gives the desire to unveil mysteries and to expose religious shams. You will have an intuitive awareness of your subconscious mind, but may have difficulty making conscious attunement. NEPTUNE RETROGRADE attunes much easier to the subconscious/unconscious when the focus is diverted by the use of a tool, such as astrology, or while the conscious mind is occupied with the task at hand. It is, therefore, important to listen to and heed insights that appear to come to you from “out of the blue.”
NEPTUNE RETROGRADE indicates the urge to view the material world in terms of its significance to the Soul and its growth. Thus, NEPTUNE RETROGRADE offers you the opportunity to achieve a very advanced stage of spiritual evolution during this incarnation. NEPTUNE RETROGRADE requires that you live in the material world while remaining separate from it. To others, you will seem to lack the common sense that motivates the behavior of others. Instead, you vibrate to a higher music, possessing a direct attunement with your Soul. You are much more in touch with the cosmos than the material world and know far more than you can express in words.
NEPTUNE RETROGRADE KARMA – You are living through a karma of learning how to distinguish between the dreams that will bring true fulfillment and those that simply appear to do so. This learning process can mean that you attempt living one dream after the other. Because NEPTUNE RETROGRADE, functioning on the personality-centered level, can be confusing, you may tend not to trust your intuition—even though you are highly intuitive.
PARENTS – your NEPTUNE RETROGRADE child may appear impractical in comparison to society’s status quo. You may be tempted to stifle your child’s dreams or to dismiss them as “off the wall.” Know that your child lives in two worlds simultaneously. Simply be supportive and allow his/her uniqueness to manifest. This child will enjoy serving others, even at a young age. Artistic and musical activities are satisfying."

Okay this is the low down on Neptune. My family has a lot of Neptune so I can understand what it does by looking at how it affects us and this is Neptune, not the sign Pisces so what I am writing doesn't concern those born with a Piscean influence, although it certainly can, it is about Neptune in the natal chart.

My mom has a huge conjunction, stellium, with Neptune on the ascendant involving Moon, Mars and Mercury all in Virgo h12 (Libra Asc also runs in the family.) I can tell you Neptune is difficult except when you get older it tends to mellow out some. What I notice it doing in myself and others with the Neptune aspects or on sensitive points like the ascending degree is it causes something to be the worst possible and it will always look like the best thing in the world to the person under the influence of Neptune and NOTHING anyone can say will convince them otherwise. If you want to influence such a person, you can, but very slowly will they be influenced (it is very subtle) and there is no guarantee they will ever be influenced at all, just a chance but again, it will take a long time for them to snap out of it even after being confronted. This is the main thing I have noticed about Neptune. It can wreck havoc because it makes really horrible situations look like the best possible thing in the mind of the person who has the Neptune influence.

Do you think saturn aspects to neptune helps the person in the long run to whatever reality that needs to be faced?

I personally do not like any of the Neptune aspects because I see first hand what they do to people so perhaps I am biased. To me, it is a difficult planet and Pisces had it easier when they only had Jupiter as their ruler. But that's just my opinion. I can only hope everyone can take their Neptune positions and deal with them in whatever way benefits them the most.

This is actually spot-on. I have Neptune Retrograde (and a singleton, no less - the only planet in that half of my chart), and it squares my Venus and probably my sun-moon midpoint. This is all true.

I do have a 'thing' about sham religions and ideologies and from time to time go on mini-rants pointing out the hypocritical and dangerous aspects of them.

I come up with my best ideas while I'm moving around, doing something else, usually something mundane and monotonous. I usually don't trust my intuition or my instincts either, even though I usually realize later that I should have.

And I do have a lot of life experiences involving the concept of dreams and wish-fulfillment and then finding out what you wished for isn't all its cracked up to be. This occurs specifically in the realm of personal/romantic relationships (Venus).

For me the spiritual and the intangible things have always trumped reality and the material world, which I consider more or less meaningless in all ways. There is a lot that I just can't express properly or get out and I always find that frustrating to no end.

The parental thing at the bottom wasn't really an issue because my mother always really encouraged me no matter what my ideas were or how impractical they might be and she always believed in me and never gave me a hard time for being weird or somewhat impractical. I think it was a case of us being on the same wavelength, anyway because she had Mercury in Pisces, and her luminaries making aspects to Neptune, so she *got* where I was coming from. I inherited those energies from her; my sun, mercury and moon aspect Neptune too as well so I think it was definitely that she understood me right from the gate in that respect.

I have rNeptune sq Mars and inconjunct Sun, Venus, Mercury. Lets just say I sometimes have a very hard time telling reality from fantasy. And I have very high ideals that no one, incl myself, will ever live up to.

I have Neptune and Saturn retro. Neptune is opposite my Mars, conjuncts my Saturn, sextiles my Pluto and sqaures my Ascendant. I can kind of relate to some of the descriptions here. I'm not a huge Neptune fan.

I have retro Neptune in the first opposite Mars and square Mercury. I don't really agree with the whole "generational planets not being important unless close personal aspects to sun/moon" thing. But that's another topic. I have retro Neptune makes it very hard to believe in something or be sure you are making the right move. Especially with the hard aspects, it creates a lot of self doubt and do-overs. In my experience anyway.

I have rNeptune square Mercury (Merc rules my Sun/MC/Venus). For me it feels like getting caught up in details that portray the underlying bigger picture, but not being able to communicate that effectively to other people. As a result, I often feel like an outsider because I see things so differently.

Neptune is technically in my 1st house, but it is near the cusp of my 2nd house, and so I tend to not be too great with money (in the sense that I don't know much about investing and I'm not likely to ask for promotions for more money- I am, however, good at saving money and trying not to accrue debt). Quite frankly, I don't care about material things all that much, so it is a contributing factor. I also don't tend to like the institution of religion in general, and am often a proponent for speaking out against it in religious discussions, though I do follow my own spirituality.

Ultimately, in my chart, Neptune has always been more nebulous for me (ha!) because it is probably the planet in my chart with the fewest aspects to it (other than Mercury, but Mercury rules over other planets in my chart). The only 2 planets I have retrograde are Venus and Neptune, and, quite frankly, I wouldn't wish that retrograde combination on anyone.
