has to be one of the worst aspects in my chart. personally.not sure if its my natal mercury/pluto combust or progressed Mercury in Sag but I find that communication is tough. I am usually silent when interacting with people,my brain is usually focusing on myself... also i've lacked focus for most of my life. horrible relationship with sibling, parents teaching style and environment definitely did nothing to sharpen my mind/social skills. their social conditioning did just the opposite..i feel that my family weakens my mind...4th cusp Leo. Could also be Chiron in 3rd to blame for this.. I'm wondering if anyone else has struggled with Mercury combust and how you cope or express this placement more positively.. Majority of people have this combination.
Even indian astrologers who use the concept of combustion may no attention to this combination in charts.
Mercury is the least concerning combustions.
This combination is suppose to brighten the mind, although your ego may hinder you from logic and reason at times.You mentioned pluto is conjunction with mercury? I feel it might be that. IP: Logged |

honestly i feel like pluto is helping it at times.. and the sun is weakening it. although yeah i could see pluto causing alot of stress im the mind and baggage that I'd need to work out..pluto gives me a glimpse into motives of others, undercurrents..probing analysis.. an interesting link here outlines some ways mercury/sun may manifest in a nativity. hits very close to home.

Actually yeah, the combust is extremely, extremely common and a lot of folks have it and they're actually really bright; aspects *to* that Mercury can make a lot of difference.Also, I wonder how much of your view of yourself as not having a 'sharp' mind, is actually accurate. It might just be Chiron in the 3rd talking - one possible manifestation of that is that you feel 'wounded' intellectually and think you aren't that bright, even if the opposite may actually be true. I have Chiron in the 3rd too, but how it manifests more for me is discomfort with communication - I have social phobia and developed a stuttering problem as an adult. It's also manifested in my sibling being kinda jerky to me a lot of the time, but not so much as "I feel I'm stupid"; if anything, I never feel intellectually inferior. My brainpower is probably one of the few things I've never doubted or felt insecure about. Like, "No matter what else goes on, I KNOW I'm intelligent as hell." IP: Logged |

Mercury combust, conj MC 0 deg, and also out of bounds...now I have a real problem in communicating with people (but then again, I have conflict relationships cause of my 1st/7th intercepted and my Moon/Pluto opp in those houses)...Can't tell a lie, I could be lying, pretending, sucking up to certain people as most of the folks do & don't even think about that, but i just WON'T, I refuse...Usually, the stuff I say SOUNDS (not sure if it really is) pretty harsh, direct & to the point, people either don't get me (and my good intentions) or they're offended...Sometimes I really do feel like I'm surrounded by people who just refuse to accept things as they are...Lies hurt me deeply and dramatically, I'd rather forgive some other things than lies, I have a phobia of people not telling me the (whole) truth & it hurts me when someone doesn't trust me enough...I'm a verbal person, enjoy a good argument, and I think just about anything can be settled if people communicate and are completely honest with each other... Now I don't know if this is a Mercury thing or maybe even an Aries asc thing....? IP: Logged |

I have Mercury combust sun. saturn also. with pluto conj sun at 0 degrees. I find that saturn and mercury are just far away enough to annoy and cause problems.  Not terribly terribly, but like that little kid poking you over and over saying " Hey. Hey. Guess what? Guess what? I am annoying you! I am annoying you!".
Lol.
I would rather have them combust than opposite or square however. They are a problem but close enough for me to reach my arm out and give them a good tap.  IP: Logged |

I dont think it is mercury however the problem with communication. I would look at ascendant and how that aspects your other planets.IP: Logged |

My mercury and saturn are combust,both conjunct sun by 0 degrees.My mercury is also retrogade.They all are conjuncted by Venus(rather wide 8 degrees).They are are tightly squared by pluto.Bit of a mess.I have read that mercury combust people take everything too personally.Also read that it is one of the worst aspects to have.Well I am silent like you but I think thats because of the my mercury being retrogade and conjuncting saturn.I think your problem is chiron related,has someone ever ridiculed you about the way you communicate,about your voice or something like that?with chiron in 3rd it may keep repeating in your mind and you may feel embarrassed to speak a lot so remain silent,you know the wound that never heals.I also have mercury opposition chiron and unfortunately my chiron is also retrogade.IP: Logged |
