Hi all
Trying to find out my partner's ascendant but he doesn't know his birth time and all those who would know are unfortunately no longer with us. He believes it's sometime in the early hours of the morning. I've heard there are ways to track it back and work it out but unsure where to begin. Any guidance or advice appreciated!
Thank you x

I think that a professional astrologer might be able to do that, but I think that it's not something you could do yourself

You have to go back in time. Like that movie back to the future.

That'd be great but sadly my Flux Capacitor is broken and you just can't seem to get Plutonium at a reasonable price these days! ;D

Any other suggestions anyone?

read through a generalised list of characteristics of all the signs, get him to think about what he feels is under-represented in his chart, if there's something he feels is obviously missing, then try to figure it out that way.

i guess it only works if you don't have anything in that sign already though. for instance, i have no planets in virgo, but i have a critical nature and a perfectionist streak. i recognise that and so would guess i have virgo rising. (i do know my birthtime and i do have virgo rising.)

you may try looking at the midheaven for career as well and see which offers the best asc/mc combo.

I thought the ASC is usually one or two signs away from their Mercury? Just what I've been told.

That is the Sun. ASC can fall anywhere.

There is a thing where like, you take a bunch of significant times of their life...and you look at transits and try to guess AC from those.

Like say you had two different times to sort from, and one transit included Uranus conjunct MC and bam that's when their career took off...well, that might be a plus to that time.

Describe him,his first impression on people, their reaction when they see him for the first time.Post his pic if you are okay with it,we can guess, then we can even give him degree by looking at the interpretations of the degree, reading interpretations of planets in houses may also help. Then we can compare his life with transits.Ofcourse it may not be accurate but thats probably the closest he can get to knowing his ascendant without accurate birth time and I think it will be fun.

Wow thank you everyone there's some really useful stuff here!

soemthingexcellent yeah I knew I'd heard of something like that so I'll try to get relevant dates from him and look up the transits to see if anything jumps out.

anonymidarkness I'll post his pic for a little while and then remove it but I'll describe him for you first if that's ok? He's a Sag sun and on first impressions (as far as I'm concerned anyway,) he's like an ebullient boy with a big infectious grin and a wonderful twinkle in his eye. Although a lot of the time (with others) he seems to come across as quite serious, almost gruff but he does have a very killer deadpan sense of humour so he makes people laugh a lot!! He's very practical, quite tactile but not in a public displays of affection kind of way necessarily, he's very honourable and always wants to do the right thing by people and he really values loyalty.

We were talking last night and his parents were Aries and Capricorn and I read both descriptions for him. He felt he identified more with the Aries description but knowing him as I do, to me he's far more Cappy!! I think he has an Aries moon (this will depend on the time of birth because it nudged into Taurus late at night the day he was born) so that would explain a fair amount of his identification with the Aries traits I think. We went through all the other sign descriptions and none rang true for him so I think we really have narrowed it down to these two. Anyway, will post his pic and see if anyone has any ideas. Thanks so much!

Post his planets along with degrees. That will help, planets conj. asc or planets in first house deceive people.I think he is an aries moon,I dont get that taurean vibe.I think he is either sag,cap or aqua asc.I will guess again.

Does he have poker face?scorpio ascendant could be a possibility, those eyes are kinda intense but cap ascs also have them.He cant have aries asc if he is born in the morning.I think its either scorp or cappy asc.,I would not rule out sag asc but he certainly does not sound like a sag asc and sun in the first house from your description.Read the descriptions of sun in the 11th,12th,1st and 2nd house, which one fits him the most?

It's almost impossible to choose which house his sun could be in!! I've read every one and although there are some that I can completely rule out (6th, 7th, 8th and 3rd,) the rest all have elements I recognise in him and no one house seems to stand head and shoulders above the rest!

I know what you mean about Scorpio eyes and his intense look however he's just not intense in that Scorpionic way when you know him. As for Cancer yep I can see what you mean but again he's not watery as such - he's caring but often in quite a stern way haha! It's not sympathy but practical action you get from him. Tell him you're ill and he'll drive you to hospital but won't sit and cuddle you. Although he does like to cook a lot so maybe!! I still think Cappy asc though. He's just so opinionated and Saturnine in many ways - loves to be in charge so it's definitely a Cardinal you're right about that. This is a very good argument for putting birth times on birth certificates!!

Thanks for all your input and help!

Forgot to add that his assumption that he was born in the early hours is just him guessing I think and has no basis in fact necessarily.

He does look like a cappy asc,he has that nose as well.Him looking like cancer is probably because he has cancer DSC,opposite signs look similar.
