Pope Benedict has resigned as head of the Catholic Church... I am so intrigued by this occurring a few months after 12/21/12 and the idea of a new era of spiritual awakening.

Are there any interesting astro transits In Rome? I did notice a New Moon in Aquarius which is the sign known for human/social progress & radical change. The last time a pope resigned was centuries ago.

i dont think anything connected to the catholic church will herald any kind of spiritual awakening *snorts* sorry but i do not see any significance in this- most likely some scandal they want to hush hush.

@ Venusdisirius, yes I was thinking along those lines. The predictions of Nostradamus of the two suns, fall of the Church and detoriation of old religious systems.

I'm feeling a lot if hidden agendas behind this, but it is good that he is admiting his inability to successfully lead. The progress I'm optimistic about isn't within the Church itself, but rather in the world. As old systems crumble, brings more room for new thought/change.

I think it is interesting that this event happened while so many planets are in Pisces. The age of Pisces, which we are currently in, is most associated with the rise of Christianity and other 'big religions'. Also, take note of Pluto in Capricorn, the sign of delegated authority. It's as if the planets in Pisces were signalling to Pluto in Capricorn which authority figure to bring down. I think this is a great example of the power and accuracy of astrology

^ Religion is more of a 9th house thing associated with Sagittarius and jupiter.

Pisces is associated the 12th house and spirituality and openness regardless of faith.

if anything I feel this time will be the fall of major religions

@Kerosene Pisces is also ruled by Jupiter and is noted as the sign of emotional stuggle, altruism and martyrdom, and the idea of 'serving or suffering'. Pisces is definitely in charge of Christianity; Jesus himself fed the hungry with fish, struggled with his faith, and died for the sins of man. Plus, a symbol of Christianity is a fish. I agree that this is the beginning of the end for big religions, which again indicates the end of the age of Pisces. However, the more I think about the pope's resignation the more I attribute it to Pluto in Capricorn. Pluto destroys the old, exposes corruption and makes room for the new. Capricorn is the authoritative CEO, the bossman of the zodiac. Since this transit began in 2008 we've witnessed a lot of dramatic changes(Pluto) in/around the governments, economies, workplaces and authority figures(Capricorn) across the world. I'm talking the Recession, the Occupy movement, the Arab Spring, and so much more. The last time Pluto was in Capricorn was from 1762 to 1779, during which the American Revolution took place. I think the Pope's resignation is a minute demonstration of the power Pluto has in Capri. As Pluto continues its trek for the next ten years, we can expect more events like this to take place

The photographs of lightening striking St. Peter's basilica, that same afternoon are quite something.. Perhaps an omen of change.. Reminds me of the Tower card in tarot.. Bolt of lightening strikes the imposing tower, forcing freedom/change.
