I see a physical difference in the charts, but don't know how it's completely different. When evaluating planetary aspects between two people I use composite charts, and when checking which planets are in houses I use a synastry chart. Can you use synastry charts to evaluate planetary aspects? What are composite charts really used for? Which is better for relationships between two people?IP: Logged |

RAS (Runaroundscreaming <---I still lol at that name RAS!) has a HUGE Composite thread floating around in the last few pages. Check it out. She does an excellent job explaining the difference.------------------ Gemini Sun Libra Moon Gemini Mercury Cancer Venus Virgo Mars Virgo Asc And yes, I'm a guy! IP: Logged |

I personally feel that synastry is more important. You can have lots of Saturn in composite but if it's missing in synastry the relationship probably won't last.IP: Logged |

The basics as I understand it.Synastry chart, imposes both of your natal placements in two concentric rings. One Inner, one outer. Each ring represents the natal, including AC, house positions and planets. The lines denoting aspects, represent the aspects between the natal charts. There are no aspects given between 1 person's natal chart to other placements in their own natal chart. Composite Chart - Is the aggregate, or median of both natal charts. If your Venus was in Pisces, and theirs in Scorpio. The Composite Venus would be in Capricorn for example, at least with the midpoint. So from my basic understanding... A composite chart, shows the placements of the relationship supposedly. The areas and lessons perhaps. A synastry chart, shows how you relate to one another and how you touch one another. Some people even go further to relate their natal to the composite chart, and see what aspects come up to see if the relationship is compatible with their natal. I'm sure others here know far more than I do. ------------------ Learn lots. Don't judge. Laugh for no reason. Be nice. Seek Happiness. Follow your dreams. IP: Logged |

My understanding is that the Composite is more meaningful once the relationship has progressed to an advanced stage such as marriage. The Synastry is better at the dating/friendship phase.IP: Logged |
