The second house is interesting.

What does it mean to have the moon in the second house?

Moon in the Second Your Emotional and Sub-conscious Development is House Focused on Values and Resources
Generally, the Second House is a conducive placement for the Moon, if your emotional attachment to your possessions and resources does not become excessive. If you are emotionally healthy, you are likely to enjoy a sense of security and well-being. This, in turn, may provide you with the emotional stability and groundedness that can allow you to better acquire, manage and enjoy your resources and possessions.
Again, assuming emotional stability, you are likely to have a "down-to-earth" attitude toward material resources. Your attitude toward the material dimensions of life is likely to have been conditioned by your family background and upbringing. Therefore, your attitude toward possessions and material security is likely to be that which most people in society share.
However, you also place too much emotional weight on your possessions, resources and material condition. You may be emotionally attached to your possessions. You may also have a very emotional response when your material security is threatened (or unexpectedly enhanced). The Moon's placement in the Second House also suggests that you may place a great deal of value on your emotional life, as well as on family, domestic life and/or your heritage.
Transcendent Potential
You begin to actualize the transcendent potential of the Moon in the Second House when you are instinctively attracted to the higher values in life, including the values of caring and compassion. You get in touch with your subconscious power and your emotions and you use these forces as resources for your personal growth and development. By being in touch with that Force of Life which underlies all, you have come to a realization that material possessions have no real or intrinsic value. They possess value only in how they are used for good and to support your livelihood in order that you may pursue the spiritual quest. You have successfully struggled to free yourself from your earlier conditioning, which may have made you possessive and taught you to value material resources above all else.
Insecurity
If you are inwardly insecure, you will be extremely attached to your possessions, fearing their loss and feeling that you could not live without them. Your emotional state is effectively determined by what you feel you have. You derive your sense of security from retaining what you have. This leaves you vulnerable for riding an emotional roller-coaster if your material fortunes are threatened or unstable. Your responses and behavior are totally conditioned to react to your material circumstances and, in this sense, you are a totally determined and dependent being.
Focus of Your Emotional Development
What you value is likely to play a major role in your emotional development. If you value material objects solely, then your emotional development will focus on your reaction to your material circumstances and, secondarily, on how others affect those circumstances. If you view your emotional capacity as a resource, you are likely to place a lot of energy into the developing that resource.
The value that you place on your emotions is likely to result in you cultivating your emotional health. If your values are more abstract, or if you are searching for what you value in life, your emotions may play a role in enabling that search. As your search for ultimate value progresses, you grow in emotional complexity and richness and you become more aware of what is of real value in the world.
Your Conditioning Influences
Your early conditioning by family and society is likely to primarily affect your attitude and behavior toward material security and possessions. To the extent that you are subject to such conditioning, you are likely to feel that material security, prosperity and abundant possessions are important in life. You will be conditioned to act accordingly. To the extent that you resist or rebel against your conditioning, you are likely to react against society's pervasive materialism. This, in turn, may prompt you to explore your feelings about what is of real value in life. You may also grow to find ways to hold a healthier attitude toward the material world and the need for material security.
Where You Are Behaviorally Comfortable
You are likely to be most comfortable when your material and physical security needs are being met. You are, therefore, likely to be comfortable when acquiring or enjoying material possessions. To the extent that you rise above the level of material attachment, you are likely to be comfortable in the realm of values--exploring the issue of values, discussing values and feeling good about your value system. Even if you reject the primacy of material possessions as the measure of security and worth, however, you are still likely to be comfortable with material affluence and to recognize the value--put in its proper perspective—of material security.
Your personality may also express undertones of Moon-in-Taurus.

Uranus in the Second Transformation-through-Revelation Focuses on Your
House Resources, Values and Possessions
The placement of Uranus in the Second House may present difficulties, given the natural square between the Uranus-ruled Eleventh House and the Second House. "Success" in pursuing Second House activities (accumulation, ensuring physical security, nurturing a base of operations) generally requires stability and an attunement to the physical world. These are not qualities that are exemplified by Uranus--the agent of change and messenger of Higher Vision.
If you attempt to accomplish the traditional goals associated with the Second House, the urge toward freedom and idealism symbolized by Uranus will likely prove an obstacle. You are called upon to transform your/society's concept of resources, security, values and possession. You are urged to liberate yourself from the constraining habits of physical attunement and of me and mine. Yet, the physical world and the requirements symbolized by the Second House are real and important. Physical needs and security, utilizing your resources, and accumulating possessions so as not to be dependent on others are things that should not be ignored.
The challenge of this placement, therefore, is to transcend conventional stereotypes of possession and value without engaging in rebellion and alienation-producing displays of unconventionality and to liberate yourself from your attachment to the physical without endangering your security in the physical world. You may resolve the tension of this placement in rather benign ways. You may have a taste for the unconventional or avant garde and collect unusual objects or decorate your surroundings using unique motifs. You may have a philanthropic spirit and enjoy giving generously from your resources. You may also develop one of the qualities associated with Uranus--inventiveness, intellectual innovation, mass communication, electricity, "New Age" arts, etc.—as a personal resource. Or, you may deal with the tension in more self-transformative ways.
Transcendent Potential
You can realize the transcendent potential of Uranus in the Second House when you fundamentally transform your value system so that it reflects a higher level of consciousness and an awareness of the true value of material possessions. What you value has shifted from the material to the spiritual and this has motivated you to pursue a visionary quest to acquire spiritual wisdom and Enlightenment. You break the bonds of attachment to your possessions as you perceive the unity of the universe and the reality of Idea.
You realize that your resources are those of spirit, not matter. Yet, you realize that you exist at the physical level and that you must obey the dharma of living in the physical world. You, therefore, give sufficient attention to earning a living and taking care of your physical and material needs. You do this not as your primary goal in life, but to construct the necessary support and foundation for an evolved life on the Earth plane.
Insecurity
If you are inwardly insecure, you feel the pull to transform, but you are not ready to give up your attachment to possessions and possessiveness. Thus, you substitute change for transformation. You may use your ability to accumulate things in order to display the uniqueness and individuality of your ego-personality. You may consider your avant-gardeness or bohemian character to be a valued resource. Or, you may become negatively attached to material possessions, rejecting "materialism" through rebellion and disdain.
You are likely to do this even while you depend on others for your physical security and sustenance. If you deny your inner urge to change and transform, your subconscious is then likely to send “messages” designed to convince you of the need to make changes in your life. These messages can take the form of suddenly losing your possessions and material security or experiencing destabilizing changes in your material circumstances.
Your Focus of Individuation
You are likely to undertake the process of individuation through examining and transforming your value system. You will differentiate your values from the mass consciousness value system. Your values then become more authentic and real. This may be accompanied by changes in what you chose to possess materially, but these changes should be seen as symbolizing inner changes. A major step in your development is likely to be when you transform your concept of possession. You realize that possessions possess their owner and that liberation and true self-development must be gained by freeing yourself from your possessive nature.
Focus of Your New Directions and Insight
The revelations and new ideas that come to you are most likely to be about the material world, possession, resources and values. You may also be very innovative in accumulating wealth and property or utilizing your possessions or talents. However, insights you may receive about how to gain more material wealth generally do not proceed from your higher Self. These insights may result in your material life being richer and more interesting, but the excitement of pursuing material abundance can distract you from more spiritually fruitful pursuits. Furthermore, the risk of loss is just as real as the risk of gain when you implement the novel ideas that inspire you. You run the danger of becoming overconfident and recklessness. Ultimately, the most valuable insight will occur when you realize the real value of the material world and its possessions.
Your Focus for Change
The area of life most affected by change and most likely to produce changes in you is likely to be the area that is focused on your possessions and values. It is common for someone with Uranus in the Second House to experience changing material circumstances. You may also find that your level of physical and material security to fluctuates. Because of this, you may feel insecure or averse to change. You are also likely to try to change your material circumstances. You may be dissatisfied or restless with your material life. However, you may also try to change your circumstances in order to free yourself from the fetters of material concern.
The personality may also express undertones of Uranus aspecting Venus.

Moon in the 2nd house implies that your emotional well being is directly connected to your possessions and financial state. Therefore you need a certain kind of material and financial stability in order to feel emotionally stable. http://theastrologyplace.blogspot.com/2012/06/moon-in-2nd-house.html#.USjxtR04uuI

You value sentiments. People who act with their heart. There is sentimental background to everything you start, build and form. Your MO is emo-driven.

The moon in the second house for me is more about myself and my self-esteem than it is about posessions.

From what I read, the second house also rules your body and self image because it's yours. My self-esteem tends to wax and wane along with the moon. One day I'm sexy, the next I feel plain and homely.

I wanted to know if anyone else with a second house moon feels this way.

I have a great self-image, but every now and then, I don't feel the prettiest or the smartest, etc.

I think my second house moon is the reason why I eat when I'm bored.

Imo the 2nd house shows what we value on the one hand and what we "have" on the other (ie talents, qualities).

It doesn't have to be material stuff, unless you have Taurus on the 2nd cusp, for example.

The sign on the cusp is very important.

I think with the Moon in 2nd, it's important for you to have emotional stablity of some sort, you may value people who can provide you with security on an emotional level. Usually feelings are quite stable with Moon in the 2nd cause it's a fixed house. So even if you're moody, your "core" feelings about things/people aren't likely to change easily.

My mom has a second house moon. We have a composite second house moon and sun in Capricorn.
My mom serves as a provider for me. She's not emotionally supportive, but she'll give me money to take care of myself (not as much since I've gotten older and gotten my own job).

When we go out we like to do things like shop, try new foods and products. That sounds pretty second house.

Makes the most sense. I look for emotional stability and security in others, particularly in intimate relationships.
I'm very moody. My Scorpio moon trines with moody Cancer.

the second house is a good placement for moon because its the house or taurus. So it gives the moon some stability

Moon in second house....the emotional eating sounds reasonable. You get a sense of security from it.....I also have add issues with eating....

The Second House confuses me too. I have Mars conjunct Jupiter there in Pisces. And at the other end of it is my North Node in Aries.

Any ideas about what that might mean?
