What kinds of things in synastry charts point out connections like this, that happen out of the blue, yet are sooo strong and meaningful?

My first love was a Cancer (when i was 16). Cancer on the Dsc. here. His Sun (or Venus) was near my Jupiter in Cancer, I believe.

From my observation, apart from the typical physical attraction synastry aspects... This usually has to do with people aspecting each others 5th, 7th, and 8th house rulers. Or having planets in each others 5th, 7th, and 8th houses... It can even happen if a partner's chart symbolically resembles one or more of these houses, by having certain signs, and aspects, strong in their natal chart.

Aspects to Juno and the Vertex Axis are crucial in major attractions too. Partners having planets in the same sign as Juno, the Vertex, or the Anti-vertex, can also be pretty compelling.

Then there is something called the secondary Dsc... I think this one might apply to you Frankie (I remember parts of your chart from other posts).

The formula for the secondary Dsc goes like this... Okay, if somebody has a Taurus Dsc, apart from looking at the 7th house for the partner, you can also look at the 2nd house as well. This is because Taurus 'rules' the 2nd house. If I remember correctly Frankie, you have a Sagittarius Moon falling into the 2nd house. When someone has a Taurus Dsc, having the Moon in the second house, adds an attraction to partners with Cancer influences. This could explain your attraction to a Cancer Sun guy...

As for why the attraction grew from a friendship, you could try checking your progressed synastry to see what's going on. Progressed chart to Natal chart, and Progressed chart to Progressed chart.

Lotis White, what you said does make sense. You are right about my 2nd house Moon in Sagittarius.

My ASC, Venus and Pluto fall into his 8th house. His 8th house (and obviously my asc/venus/pluto) is in Scorpio so this probably explains our extremely sexual relationship and the bit of obsession we both feel. His Sun falls into my 8th house and his Moon falls into the very end of my 7th, so I don't know if that's technically considered the 8th house since it is so close to the 8th house cusp? The Moon rules his 5th house, too..so that strengthens the connection to my 7th/8th house because it connects to his 5th, right? His Chiron falls into my 8th as well.

My 5th house cusp and Mars are Pisces and his ASC is Pisces..my 8th house is Gemini and his Moon is in Gemini.

My Vertex conjuncts his IC.

I'm not sure that these Juno connnections matter but...His Juno is in Sag, my Moon/Mercury/Saturn/Uranus are in Sag...my Juno is in Capricorn, his Mars is in Capricorn..hmm.

Awesome, if his Sun is actually in your 8th house this would put a double influence on it too. With his Gemini Moon, my feeling is that you’ll get a combination of the 7th/8th house vibes from his Moon mixed together, since it’s still technically in the 7th house, but near the 8th house cusp and in the 8th house sign. His Pisces Asc being in the same sign as your 5th house and Mars for sure is a bonus too. I love 5th house connections.

Your Asc, Venus, and Pluto in his 8th is definitely a good start for intense attraction. If his Dsc is Virgo, and his 5th house is Cancer, pay careful attention to how you aspect his Mercury and Moon. And if Libra is intercepted in the 7th then pay attention to how you aspect his Venus too. Yeah, his 5th house ruler in your 7th and on the 8th, has a sort of symbolic resonance to it. There's a similarity of expectations in from his 'Romance' sector to your 'relationship/intimacy' sector.

Having your Vertex conjunct his IC is awesome, it also means that your Anti-Vertex is conjunct his MC. His reputation/home and safety orientation will resonate profoundly with you. The Vertex Axis is very electric and synchronistic, and has to do with how people strike a meaningful chord within us and stick in our memories. In big attractions it’s common to see the Vertex Axis connecting with the partner’s planets. But the Vertex Axis overlaying another Axis in the partners chart, is pretty amazing as well. When the Vertex Axis in one person’s chart overlays the Asc/Dsc, Mc/Ic, or North Node/South Node Axis in the other person’s chart that person will be fascinating to you, especially with regard to the life areas represented by the Axis in question… Independence/relationship, outer world/haven, and past/future journey.

When I first learned about Juno I was a little bit curious but I didn’t think that much of it. Over time though, I’ve seen repeated instances of people’s Juno signs showing up somewhere in the partner’s chart. I strongly suspect Juno’s way more significant in how we choose our partners then a lot of people realize. I admit I don’t have proof but there sure is a lot of 'circumstantial evidence'.
