Just wondering if anyone has info or ideas about situations where a third person affects the dynamic between two people. Can something in my chart work like a catalyst, making something happen with a couple's synastry? For instance, if they have a trine between two planets, and my Saturn turns that into a Grand Trine, will that tone down how they express their trine? Or if they have opposing planets, and my Uranus forms a t-square with those planets, will that enliven and agitate their opposition? Do you have any examples of something like that? IP: Logged |

Interesting thread, Faith! Um.. I've read that usually when there are triangles of some sort, there's a Venus/Pluto aspect (especially hard) either natally or in the synastry (maybe even composite?). There are probably others (Uranus? Neptune?).
I don't know about your planets affecting THEIR synastry.. maybe your planets affecting their *composite*, that sounds more plausible. And especially your planets in contact with their natal charts.

Thanks, Doux!I love the idea about looking at how one person's chart affects the composite of two others. Like if my moon is conjunct the composite sun of two people who can't gauge each other's emotions too well, maybe my presence will facilitate understanding? I will have to look at some charts and post again. I've been in situations like this and want to see how my chart interacted with the others'.

I've read that the square aspect indicates a challenge coming from an outside source. So perhaps the challenging aspects may point to an opening for third party influence.IP: Logged |

^ Ahhh! That's something to work with. My husband and I have Venus square Venus, and definitely a lot of our trouble is about how other people fit into our life. I'm Sag Venus, 'want to be friends with (almost) everyone. He's a much more selective Virgo Venus. Thanks, Nine. IP: Logged |

I think I see what you're saying, Faith - but it seems more like a "composite synastry". I don't think that synastry aspects can necessarily be cancelled out or calculated into something different than what they are, though it may be an interesting exercise to out all three on a synastry wheel and see what comes up.If your Merc is trining one's but squaring another's, for instance, or if you're heavily activating one's Pluto but not the other's, it may affect the dynamic of all involved. Another exercise may be to do a synastry between your chart and an established relationship's composite chart - that may tease out some secrets. I also just noticed that astro.com has a "multi-composite" option for up to three, which may be viable if you're exploring a family dynamic or a long-term business partnership. Edited to add: I just did it for each of our three children, my husband, and I. Interestingly, all are full of multiple Grand Trines, one even has those plus a kite. Two, though, have very few harsh aspects, and one has quite a bit more. It plays out in our interactions, too - there's a lot of genuine love, caring, and trust, but also a bit more head-butting than with the other two (well, one's a baby, but more than with the other one, even at her age).
Edited to add: Oh, I just saw that you can do more than three. Shiny. ------------------ If I've included this sig, it's because I'm posting from a mobile device. Please excuse all outrageous typos and confusing auto-corrects. IP: Logged |

Ok, I did a bit of research...I was friends with my Virgo ex and his new girlfriend, also a Virgo. They had communication problems. One day, after the three of us were hanging out and having a good time, my ex told me that he wished I would talk with them more often~ they had much better communication between themselves when I was present. So I looked up their charts, not knowing the birth time of either. She was most likely a Cap moon; I'm a Cap sun. So maybe I was tuning into her better than he could, and amplifying what she was getting at so he could grasp it better. (He's a Taurus moon.) My ASC is conjunct their composite Mars-Saturn in Leo which is otherwise unaspected. Maybe I was able to highlight their hidden tenseness, but give it a more open, positive form. Their composite moon is probably Pisces and I'm a Pisces moon. My Mars is conjunct their composite Jupiter; that seems like it could go either way. I've got another case to look up, when I have time. Yes, that's what I was wondering about. quote: Originally posted by mockingbird: If your Merc is trining one's but squaring another's, for instance, or if you're heavily activating one's Pluto but not the other's, it may affect the dynamic of all involved.
I was thinking that may be the case... quote: Originally posted by mockingbird: Another exercise may be to do a synastry between your chart and an established relationship's composite chart - that may tease out some secrets.
Great minds think alike! (You and Doux,I mean. ) I followed her advice and tried that; you and I were posting at the same time, I think. quote: Originally posted by mockingbird: I also just noticed that astro.com has a "multi-composite" option for up to three, which may be viable if you're exploring a family dynamic or a long-term business partnership.
Thank you~ I'll have to try it! quote: Originally posted by mockingbird: Edited to add: I just did it for each of our three children, my husband, and I. Op, sorry - I hadn't seen that that had been a response already. I just read your post and replied. Still a bit out of it. ------------------ If I've included this sig, it's because I'm posting from a mobile device. Please excuse all outrageous typos and confusing auto-corrects. IP: Logged |
