I just added two new blog posts, on rising planets (conjunct the Ascendant) and culminating planets (conjunct the Midheaven). Check them out and let me know what you think and, if you have these positions, if they fit.

I tried to stay away from the typical descriptions. As a Moon conjunct MC person, I'm sick of always reading "changes in career". The rising planets describe more so how you come off, carry yourself, and what people think of you. The culminating planets are about where your calling lies and what your general reputation is and what you want from a career.

Saturn rising:People may feel a bit uneasy or uninhibited around you.

So true! I always got the feeling that people didn't like me at first glance because I look too serious. I was sitting in class yesterday & some guy didn't want to sit beside me because I looked 'scary'...Shame, they dislike me when they have never even met the real me.

People can also rarely ever tell your age. You either seem much younger Ugh so true! People think I'm 15 when I'm actually 19 -.- When I meet some friends of my friends for the first time, they ask: Are you sure she's old enough to drink? LOL

Very nice, informative blog. Kudos!

I have both Venus and Jupiter conjunct my Pisces ascendant, but Venus is closer. It's on the 12th house side, so I've read I may simply not be as aware of the effects.

I found the interpretation of Venus Rising an interesting read. I do notice that I receive equal attention from both women and men, which is flattering. As far as the irresistible charm, that made me smile and laugh. Now I know why some women act as though I'm trying to hit on them, even if I'm just trying to be friendly. Some friends of mine who thought I was aware of this would say, "Oh, come on, you know you're a charmer," which I didn't know how to take since I wasn't trying to "pour it on." When a friend realized I wasn't as aware (Venus on the 12ht house side of my ascendant), she said with a smile, "You have a way about you that's... fun. Fun and comfortable." That was nice to hear. Since my Venus conjuncts my Jupiter, that could be where the "pouring it on" comes from. I guess I just like to make everyone feel good. It's not like I'll talk to a woman, act that way, but "switch off the nice" if I find out she has a boyfriend or husband. Pleasant is pleasant. Anyways, enough rambling. lol... a great read. Thanks for posting!

MillyX,

I have Capricorn Rising which is quite similar and I get that all the time. People think I look like I'm in high school even though I'm 23.

12thhouser,

Yeah, planets on the Ascendant are usually ones we're really aware of UNLESS they're in the 12th house. Then, they function really unconsciously. Glad you like the blog!

"Uranus rising (Uranus conjunct Ascendant)

The first impression you make on people is one of an original. Well, to some. To other people, you just come off as a weirdo. But, that's okay with you. With your Uranus rising, you know you stick out like a super-sore thumb and you like it that way. This quirkiness is the key characteristic to your persona. This position brings out everything that is rather strange and unusual about the sign your Uranus is in and puts it right out there. You can play the part of the rebellious free spirit to perfection. You appear to enjoy shocking or being disruptive, subverting the status quo around you.

You have the bearing of a brilliant but eccentric professor or scientist. You seem to be totally chaotic and disorganized, but there is a method to all of the madness. Expect the unexpected sums you up. Your movements are as abrupt as lightning, seemingly coming out of nowhere, and also rather erratic. Being as unpredictable as you (intentionally) are keeps people on their toes. You have an invariably nonchalant and cool air, as if you could care less about anything. But, your face is very intelligent and your manner is friendly in a completely casual way. People from all walks of life gravitate toward you, as they correctly sense you are genuinely interested in them and won't judge them for their differences."

VERY true!

I identify with the Sun conj Ascendant description in a lot of ways, too... I also really identify with Sun in the 12th house descriptions. My Sun is in the 12th house, and is conj my Ascendant by 5 degrees, so I'm a mix of both..

Yeah, I'm less aware of my Venus effects. I remember having coffee with a friend who was shocked that I was surprised I'd been getting so much attention (at the time we were talking). She said "Why does that surprise you?!" I'm not trying to feign humility, I was just taken aback that I was getting the attention I was receiving at the time.

Great article!

Jupiter culminating (Jupiter conjunct Midheaven)

Jupiter culminating in your birth chart makes you an adventurer in whatever field you undertake, which can be many. You can be noticeably restless in your professional life, as you have an insatiable thirst for experience. This can lead you to exploring many different career options. You may also have a strong love for higher education, ending up as one of those perpetual college students. There is a powerful urge for your choice of career to be something you believe in. Your calling is almost like a religion, which you can follow almost blindly. You find a deep sense of meaning in whatever path you're on, as well as a fervent belief that the process is much more important than the destination. The only down side is that you may forget all about the destination and just end up lost.

People are generally entertained and amused by you. You are widely known as something of a clown or a goofball. The sense of humor of the sign Jupiter is in becomes your calling card, in a way. That humor is such an overwhelming part of your public image that people may have a hard time taking you seriously. The higher expression of your public persona is that of a philosopher. You develop a highly enlightened outlook on life that you freely and openly share with the rest of the world. Operating on this plane, people feel like they can learn a lot from you.

Most of it is spot-on. I'm the eternal student and still in university; and went through different educations before finding something that felt right. Then became really dedicated almost like, yes, a religion. And I like a joke or two while working, as long as it doesn't get in the way of the project. Keeps the spirit.

A couple of years ago I was out of the running because of my health and I definitely felt stuck at home. Drove me crazy not to have anything to put my mind to. I'm very glad to be back in school. Though I've had a lot of trouble in former educations/internships, I don't regret it, it did help me grow. Oh and I'm studying a foreign language, where I'm learning about the UK/USA's politics as well.

Pluto rising (Pluto conjunct Ascendant)

As an individual with Pluto rising, you exude an unmistakable power. People will respond to you either with intimidation or fascination. Either way, you very rarely make lukewarm impressions. The power and influence of your Pluto sign is heightened, but you wield it in a covert manner. At least, you try to. Your highly controlling ways are very obvious. This control freak persona can make you totally manipulative and/or domineering, using your strong influence in dark ways. You may also be seen as vicious and destructive, toward others and yourself. This is all due to a deep wound that needs to be healed so you can learn to let go. When you do, your awesome power, passion and strength manifest positively.

Appearances are certainly deceiving in your case. On a purely physical level, you look much less powerful than you actually are, emotionally and mentally. You are highly charged with intensity. Yet, at the same time, your manner can often be eerily calm and composed. This inherent contradiction is what makes you so intriguing. You appear to be a total mystery and slightly dangerous even. You also give off very compelling sexual vibes, of which you typically know. You are dripping with sexuality and, coupled with a pair of hypnotic eyes, can seduce just about anyone you want. Your voice is rich, husky and sometimes soft, but there is an undeniable power and force behind it. A master at reinvention, you will radically change your look on a radical person, to sort of become a new person.

Moon culminating (Moon conjunct Midheaven)

As a person with their Moon culminating, you have a very deep yearning to give and receive emotional security in your community. Through your public role, you are looking to nurture and be nurtured, though you may not be conscious of this. Your experiences in your childhood and particularly with your mother have to do with this. Your mother has the biggest influence on your life path, as how well she took care of you and emotionally supported you will make or break you, more than the next person. Any unresolved childhood issues will cause you to respond to your professional life in a very fearful, passive, or dysfunctional manner. You will need to cut the umbilical cord from Mom so you can develop and achieve success on your own.

You can be seen by many in your community as highly defensive, with a tough shell to crack. You need a sort of 'public home', usually the workplace, where you truly feel safe and can let your guard down. To those in this public home, you are the great nurturer and caregiver. You aim to make people feel protected, taken care of, and understood, which brings droves of people in various forms of need toward you. A certain emotional, moody quality is a part of your public image. This, in turn, evokes great feeling in others as well. Your Moon sign energy has a similar effect as the actual Moon, capable of stirring and swaying the feelings of the masses.

Mars rising gives you the persona of human dynamite. However your Mars sign gets mad, and whatever really pushes its buttons, is startlingly apparent in your character. You like the thrill of the good fight as well as the excitement of the aggressive chase. There is probably a distinct tendency to come on too strong. You put all your Mars sign's desires right there on the table, forcefully, maybe even shoving them down people's throats. You are willing to fight fiercely for what you want, throwing yourself completely into the battle. There is little confusion on others' end. You are in it to win it.

You have a strong and naturally athletic physicality, with a driving need to be very active. You seem like the Energizer Bunny for your ability to keep going and going throughout the day. Your movements are very sudden and impulsive. There is also a noticeable air of impatience to them, as if you're in a hurry. You likely enjoy a very active sex life, although your consuming passions make you burn through a lot of partners. In many ways, you appear insatiable. You are as hot-blooded physically as you are temperamentally. You get flushed very easily, especially when mad or irritated, and might have a body temperature that is warmer than normal.

Uranus culminating (Uranus conjunct Midheaven)

With Uranus culminating, you experience a strong compulsion to 'be different'. Your professional calling is intertwined with this desire, urging you toward idiosyncratic career goals and desires. You don't follow the same path as the majority. In fact, you are very intent on going your own way. You're highly independent in your choice of direction and could care less about the approval of your family or your community. There is a feeling you carry around of standing on the outside looking in, in regards to the public. Because of this, you can be very detached from the conformist concerns that define most people's lives, like money, fame, or having a family. You may not also even care that much about your career. You certainly have goals, but they are totally based on your own ideas of success.

It's no secret to you that the world sees you as a weirdo, either to a harmless or flat-out bizarre degree. You don't do much to discourage this image. In fact, you can go to great lengths to cultivate it, shoving all your Uranus sign's idiosyncracies in the world's face. Although you're regarded as highly eccentric, it is also widely accepted that you're quite a genius in your field. The things you contribute to your field are astonishingly original. This is your message to the world: that it's perfectly okay to be a true original. The fact that you dare to be different is what wins you numerous fans, who admire your independent flair.

Neptune culminating (Neptune conjunct Midheaven)

It can be hard for you to establish a solid career direction. In fact, direction can seem to very much be anathema to you. Instead, you kind of drift through public life, following whatever inspires you and moves you. Some form of artistry or creativity very likely informs your professional calling. But, it can be difficult for you to pin yourself down to just one goal or one dream. You are full of dreams as well as with a highly idealistic belief in them. Some people can be easily disillusioned with the world and their failure to meet their dreams. You, on the other hand, seem to never really lose faith in yours. Once you learn how to truly apply yourself, you can actually fulfill your goals instead of daydreaming and fantasizing your lifetime away.

Public opinion of you can be extremely idealized. People regularly see you as something you're not, projecting all of their fantasies and ideals onto you. This is something you actually encourage, although often unconsciously, as you feel the need to be what the public wants you to be. This ability to 'play the role' can make you widely loved and popular. The most caring and compassionate element of your Neptune sign is made obvious to the world around you. Therefore, you can be seen as a true martyr in your community, even saintly. You may also acquire a public image that draws widespread pity, such as the addict or the starving artist.

Mercury rising (Mercury conjunct Ascendant)

You make an impression on others with your active mind and active mouth. With Mercury rising, you are very intellectually connected to the world around you. This position takes the brainpower of your Mercury sign and flaunts it out in the open. There are all these ideas and thoughts and random bits of information buzzing around in your head that you can't help but share. Some may find you an exhausting Motor Mouth or a know-it-all. But, you are mostly just very communicative and inquisitive, as well as highly analytical. You make your way through the world like the personification of the mythological creature Mercury. Your motto should be 'Don't shoot the messenger.'

There is a very noticeable sense of duality in your appearance. You can pull off both sides of the coin brilliantly: masculine and feminine, casual and professional, au naturel and made up (if you're female). Essentially, there is just no pinning you down. You find a way to resist all the rigid categories. You carry yourself as if you're charged up with electricity. You're visibly high-strung and full of nervous energy. Fidgety and restless, being completely still for any longer than a couple of minutes is a chore for you. As mentioned before, it may seem as if you never shut up. But, whatever you say is typically highly articulate and well thought out. Your speaking voice is very clear and enunciated, with a distinct tone of rationality.

Saturn culminating (Saturn conjunct Midheaven)

Saturn culminating in your birth chart makes you take your professional role with the utmost seriousness. You know that a career is about all responsibilities and put all of your energy into meeting yours. It is very hard for you to 'slack off' and even when you do, you'll probably not be able to forgive yourself. All of your focus is placed on building a career of longevity as well as a reputation of great respect. You will typically be very successful in establishing both. Yet, it can be very difficult for you to enjoy your success. Sometimes, you may be oblivious to the fact that you're even successful. You always feel like there are more obstacles to surmount and more duties to follow through on, which can distract you to the joys of your public position.

You play a role in your community that is resolutely authoritative and maybe even stern. Positions of authority come effortlessly to you, which you can sometimes exercise with an iron grip. It depends on what sign Saturn is in but, in any case, you give off the universal impression that there is little time for fun and games. People may find you too grave and heavy or think you take yourself way too seriously. But, you are highly esteemed within your given field. Few people ever question your competence. You know how to interact with your community in a manner that is very effective, as well as that preserves your reputation.

Edit: Mercury rising definately fits me. In every word. It's influence is so strong and noticeable. Saturn culminating also fits me, but I am less aware of it.

Good descriptions!!

Venus rising (Venus conjunct Ascendant)

People of both sexes find themselves very attracted to you, on some level or another. Having Venus rising gives you an irresistible charm and personal appeal. It's likely that you know this and can be considerably vain. You are ever-conscious of being the fairest of them all. This doesn't just mean physical beauty, either. You come across as exceptionally kind, considerate, and thoughtful. Regularly behaving in a very pleasant manner, it is hard for you to say no at times as well as to start or engage in conflict or confrontation. The things about your Venus sign that make people feel happy, peaceful, or comfortable is what you use to cultivate your persona.(quote)

The physically appealing aspects of your Venus sign are also magnified. You are extremely easy on the eyes, even if not traditionally good-looking. Your facial features are very well-proportioned. So is your body, unless your intense love of pleasure has led you to pack on the pounds. Even then, you radiate a total comfort in your skin and sensuality that is very sexy. You give the distinct impression of being the embodiment of beauty, like someone painted you. Even your potential imperfections only make you more interesting and aesthetic, like a Picasso painting. You have a very graceful and light bearing, that can be soft, slow, and even lazy. You seem to be totally luxuriating in your environment. Fashion is very important to you and you rarely fail to look chic and trendy. (Quote) I have venus conjunct the ascendant and i'm not particularly handsome and i'm not vain either.lol i dont think many women think i'm handsome, well if they do they arent telling me.

Thanks so much guys!

anonymidarkness,

I think an orb of about 9 degrees is the max, even though the aspect gets somewhat weakened by then. I think conjunctions about 6 degrees or less are more strongly felt. Like I have Moon conjunct MC at 0 degrees and Pluto conjunct MC at 4 degrees and I feel those positions a lot in my life. I also have Neptune conjunct ASC, but at 8 degrees, so I can identify with it but not as strongly (it's also in my 12th house).

I Have Neptune conjunct Ascendant by 1 orb, I'm nuts. lol

Ascendant Conjunct Neptune
You are very sensitive and perhaps psychic. Your grip on the real world is loose and you need to grasp it more firmly. You are often away in a world of your own where you can escape the harshness of reality which is especially painful to you. You are so physically sensitive to the injustices you observe in society that they can easily make you ill.

Because your environment has such a powerful effect, you should try to make some contribution to relieve your anxieties about allowing these negative conditions to exist. You are particularly sensitive to the depressing social, economic, and inhuman conditions that plague much of the worlds population. You are sympathetic toward the oppressed, understanding of the emotionally disturbed, and forgiving to those who seem guiltless in their affronts to society.

When people fail in their dealings with you, you tend to give them the benefit of the doubt and silently bear your disappointment. You easily become distraught over conditions you are powerless to do anything about, and your feelings of guilt and failure can make you withdraw into a world that is safe from responsibility. If the abrasive effect of direct encounter is severe enough, you might resort to artificial means of inducing relief from painful reality.

But it is especially important to avoid drugs and alcohol, since they only increase your vulnerability. You attract strange characters and are very impressionable to powerful individuals who can gain control over you. You should associate with persons who have their feet on the ground to compensate for your aimless wandering temperament. You need to be stabilized in reality where you can do a great deal of good. There is a very real and large need for your sympathetic understanding, and you do not have the right to turn down anyone who extends a hand for help.

In love other people find your personality difficult to put a finger on, which you can use to your advantage or not, depending on how aware you are of it yourself. You can use this charm to fool, charm, or otherwise cajole a potential lover into doing almost anything you desire, because others easily see their own fantasy images in you, which serves to make you a most desirable partner.

But this trait could also backfire on you, because the longer you allow your partner to set your personality, the harder it will be to communicate who you really are. If your lover''s image of you becomes too ingrained, the disillusionment of discovering the real you may be too much for the relationship to bear, or at least it will be very disappointing.

Thus it might be better to use your powers of deception on a social level, but once involved with a partner, to doff the cloak of unreality so that you can achieve meaningful and real communication.

Once you establish that in your love relationship, you can be an excellent partner in sexual fantasy, for you can slip easily into and out of your lover''s fantasy roles as well as your own. For you that is a very rich and rewarding area of sexuality to explore. However, before getting into such areas of expression, you and your lover should be sure that you understand each other''s real nature, so that it does not become lost or confused in the fantasies.

Wow! The Jupiter-ASC conjunction was so true of a guy I used to know! He absolutely loathed formal wear and would wear sandals everywhere he went up till December, LOL... as a Libra I would die a little inside at the lack of fashion sense.

I have my Moon just conjunct my MC and wow... very true for me also. The fact that my Moon conjuncts Chiron in Virgo as well just shows that my childhood experiences that were very painful are often a source of my writing material - I write my deepest feelings in novels and poetry, which makes sense for a Virgo Moon, near the MC of the career path in life. It's what I want to do as my career. I definitely emotionally affect people I share my work with and I feel I could make an impression on the public with professionally published writings as well. The only bad thing, as you said here, is I am very cold on the outside and kind of moody but have very deep compassion beneath that. Also, my mom is alternately distant and overly sheltering of me and has often opposed my leaving home so much that she has talked about how depressed she'll be to induce guilt. She's actually a narcissist.

I have n.Jupiter in the 12th, conjunct ASC, and I'm definitely not one for getting dressed up. I will do it occasionally, but if I can get away with not dressing up, then I'm happier.

I do get down and depressed, but usually, I'll climb out of it. I'm more of the cautiously optimistic type, but I do have a tendency to bite off more than I can chew.

I do have Sun rising (1 degree orb and in Scorpio) - I can totally agree "what you see is what ou get style. You have no problems being completely yourself."
