I do, because aspects are their own chart dimension regardless of element or quality. I have Saturn square Venus out of sign and their shared polarity affords them a subtle and mutual understanding (like two sisters fighting instead of a male and female). The different Qualities and Elements seem to take center stage in the square. Saturn wants Venus to be logical and rationally flexible, while Venus wants Saturn to appreciate her emotional determination and rich passion. When a square happens between signs of the same Quality, I notice the Element and Polarity are what tends to stand out. For example my Sun and Moon share the same Quality and tend agree on the need for flexibility, but one insists on putting it's self out there, blazing its own trail, and just experiencing, while the other demands I sit back, observe, take in my situation, and then approach life when I know where I best fit in with others. That's a nice explanation, Xiiro.Do you decrease your normal orb for out of sign aspects? ------------------ If I've included this sig, it's because I'm posting from a mobile device. Please excuse all outrageous typos and confusing auto-corrects. IP: Logged |

Nope, my approach to orbs is a bit odd. I factor in a planet's current aspect until it reaches midpoint to the next aspect, then I consider it in the light of the approaching aspect. The distance from a partile position determines how caught up in the aspect I consider the planets to be. It's a bit like having an experience, then being effected by that experience, and waning from that experience until you begin to wax into a new experience on the horizon. I view aspects like an on-going story about the evolution of two planet's chance encounter. Starting from the birth of the experience in conjunction, passing through the major and minor aspects, and finally concluding in a new conjunction between those same planets in a different degree, sign, or house (starting a new cycle). I count it like any square, it's just a little bit of a wonky square. Regular orbs apply, in my opinion. I mean, how could you ignore a square if one planet is at 29 degrees Leo, and another at 0 Sagittarius, just because they're the same element, ya kno? That's a tight square!!IP: Logged |

Yeah, I count them. Two of them in my chart and I feel the conflict, though the orb is pretty wide. Venus in late Virgo squares Jupiter in early Cancer and Uranus in early Capricorn. All three of the signs want the same thing from me (security/stability), but how they get it and in which areas of my life is different. It should be easy to merge them since they're all compatible elements, right? IP: Logged | |
