You're going to have to make a more educated claim than saying, "I think it's fake." Just saying. Why do you think Vedic is fake? How is Western astrology more accurate than Vedic?

What’s your reason for considering it as fake?

The same could be said for Western Astrology. Due to the precession of the equinoxes, we are at least one full sign off. And just because something is difficult to understand doesn't make it untrue. Calculus is pretty difficult, but math is one of the truest concepts known. I use calculus in the example because Astrology was originally calculated with it.

Sorry, but when it comes to prediction Vedic Astrology blows western out of the WATER. There is absolutely no comparison. Vedic astrology is without question more accurate. I tried using western astrology for a couple of years and found nothing in it- then I found Vedic astrology and it's accuracy blew my mind. So much that I HAD to learn it. I now only use western for synastry mostly, but for individual/natal charts I use Vedic. 90% or more of western aspects have "interpretations" that can apply to pretty much anyone. Vedic astrology is WAY more specific and it's interpretations will often apply to just you or a small percentage of the population.

For those of you who want to see Vedic astrology at work, a friend of mine sent me this link last week. Skeptic magazine had a show that aimed at debunking all sorts of things like fire-walking and psychics, etc... 99% of the time the show successfully debunked whatever they were trying to prove false. But in this episode they approach a Vedic astrologer and challenge him to prove that Vedic astrology works and is real. It is one of the few episodes where the show admits it cannot debunk and the host of the show is blown away by what Vedic astrology was able to predict.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C6k7xa1NrCc

I would also like to note that the woman in the video who says she got out of astrology because she realized it was just practicing psychology without a licence was a WESTERN astrologer- and that is exactly how I feel about western astrology personally... it's just psycho mumbo jumbo that can apply to almost everyone. Vedic astrology is not like that at all.

^^Vedic astrology's interpretations suck though,I am supposed to give milk to dog and cow everyday and stay away from people with one eye and disabled people and I dont agree that Western Astrology can be applied to everyone.Would I relate to a description of Mars in first house? No,I wouldn't.

You're writing it off after glossing over it for 2months?
Do you even understand your lagna (natal) chart yet?
There's soo much.. so very much.

It pinned my ascendant's physical attributes. Of course I'm using my vedic chart

Agreed. A lot of those remedies are so weird. They are thousands of years old. Milk is involved in a lot of them, because it was such a food staple in Vedic Times. Probably just used as a method to make people feel better about their plight.

There may be something to the remedies in the way that there may be something to some common religious techniques... like how Christians who go to church believe that if they light a candle there for the dead the lighting of it actually does something for the dead person. (I haven't been to a church in ages but I remember that). It probably doesn't do anything at all, but it makes the person lighting the candle feel better. The vedic remedies probably are the same way. I follow some vedic remedies... for example I wear a pearl ring for my malefic moon period. I was having a really bad time during the start of my moon dasa and Vedic recommended I wear such a ring. Since pearls are cheap I went ahead and bought one. My time did get better after I started wearing it, but I realized full-well that it probably works in the same way that Dumbo's feather "worked". Meaning probably just a placebo affect- The ring makes me feel better/safer so as a result things in my life start getting better. But my thinking always was- Placebo or not-whether the affect is all in my mind or not, as long as it's working a bit I don't really care. Like the placebo in those blind studies- if the people unknowingly taking the sugar pill still end up losing symptoms then who cares if it was just a fake pill. If it works it works. Tomato/Tamahto. The worst thing that would happen is I'd have a really pretty pearl ring to look at all day that didn't change my life at all, so I had nothing to lose.

Vedic astrology is very confusing to me, too! I find Western Astrology so much more straightforward. However, like many people here have inferred, 2 months of study is nothing! One of my exes studied Vedic from a guru for 7 years! He's very good, but he admits there is still so much to know. All those awesome Indian jyotishis you hear about have been studying astrology for decades! They're amazing, though.

Yes, the remedies are quite.. interesting. I come from a Hindu family, so I've definitely seen my parents do offerings of milk, fruits, etc. as a part of their poojas to appease certain planets and gods...

In Vedic astrology, certain foods, colors, metals, etc. are associated with certain planets. Like, as a remedy for my 7th house Rahu, it is said that I should offer coconuts to a river and not wear blue clothing, as this would 'calm' my Rahu.

My mother swears these remedies work, but I'm not so sure. Doing these remedies apparently offers protection from bad energies. I guess I'll try it before dismissing it completely..

^^ Starrrr I would totally love doing those rituals.
It just seems fun...
I wish I was born in a hindu family...
Even witch craft interests me, not comparing it to witch craft but they have their own rituals to.

Western Astrology can be applied to everyone? I call B.S. I'm sure I can't relate to a dominate Mars or Mars in exaltation in the chart.

I'm not a fan of that Aries Moon, yikes

^ You do have traits of an aries thou.
You're very opinionated, very blunt and honest!
Those are good traits to have.
You just don't the idea of being ares because it does not seem appealing attractive for a girl to have.

Did you know aries women are very feminine too, they have a subconscious desire to be extremely feminine to counterbalance their strong minded "masculine" personality traits

Just like ares men behave extremely masculine mainly for the same reason, they're very sensitive etc.
