My Mars is in the tenth house but it's retrograde. What does this mean for me?

When Mars is Rx, it second guesses itself on when to wait and when to act.
Mars being a planet of aggression is at a disadvantage when it's Rx.
By house this planet shows leadership qualities.
Much depends on the sign Mars is posited in and the Aspects it makes.

(also check Progressions to see if it's gone direct)

So what would this mean being in the 10th house.

This question is too vague on it's own.

1) what sign is it in?
2) What house does Mars rule in the Natal?
3) is it conjunct the MC?
4) what aspects does it makes?
5) is it part of a major configuration?

I'm on my way out, but I will check this thread when I get home.

Knowflakes, anyone out there with this placement?
Let's hear your interpretations

1. Mars in Cancer
2. Mars in 10th house
3. No
4. Mars opposite Uranus, Neptune, and Mercury (All in Capricorn, all in Fourth House)/Mars square Jupiter (Libra, 1st house) /Mars trine Moon (Scorpio, 2nd House) and Venus (Pisces, 6th house)
5. Yes. My retrograde Mars in Cancer is part of a grand water trine.

Does a retrograde planet affect the house it's in?

Hello goatcat,

your #2 question, what house does Mars rule in the Natal? you said the 10th, which it can't be if Mars is in Cancer/10th.
I'm going to guess that Aries is on the Descendant. If it isn't correct we'll rectify.

This placement is passive aggressive because it is Rx in Cancer.

A majority of your decisions are made from the heart rather than the head so this can put you at a disadvantage since the 10th house can be ruthless and this goes against Cancer's grain. This Mars sign can not forgive an intentional slight, not directly or (heaven forbid) to someone you love.
Yet all in all this sign and placement has leadership qualities. It inspires loyality.

If Aries rules your 7th then I'd say you have more way power than you realize. As you get comfortable with this sign and placement you will begin to utilize these traits and they will work for you. Don't worry about being to nice and never be afraid to stand your ground. (Rx Mars hates confrontation)

Even though Mars is not happy in Cancer, it is a Cardnal sign and it makes you brave.

I personally love this Mars placement
but would never want to get on their bad side.

lalalinda - Do you have any insight on mine?
It's been a big blind spot for me.

5) is it part of a major configuration?

2) what house does Mars rule in the Natal? Aries rules my 4th. My Merc's in the 4th, though in Pisces. My Asc is Scorpio (trad ruler).
3) is it conjunct the MC? Nope, though the MC is is in earlier degree Leo.
(it is conjunct NN and out of sign Jupiter)
4) what aspects does it make? If you expand the orb to 10d: 6d oos sextile to my Asc, 7d trine to my Neptune, 7d oos trine with my Venus.
5) is it part of a major configuration?
No, unless you allow for a very large orb and out of sign aspects. If so, then part of a mystic rectangle with:
Asc (5d Scorp), Merc (9d Pisces), Venus (7d Taurus).

your Mars is in the 10th house correct?
Yep, yep - and rx
Thanks!

Hello again,

goatcat 29* Virgo Ascendant
so this means that Mercury is your Ruling Planet and in the 4th house.
Being in an angular house is another sign of success.
Opposite your Cancer Mars can show that if pushed too far you will lash out when you are hurt and that can be crushing to the other person.

mockingbird~ Rx Mars/Leo/10th
even with your Mars being Rx, it is not a good idea for someone to try to embarrass or manipulate you. This Mars placement's sense of pride is deserved. You have worked for it. You play by the rules and you expect others to also.
Aries is on the 6th house cusp?
That's your work/job house, so Mars in the 10th shows your climb to the 10th house, your status/career house. Alway building, Your eye is on your goal and little by little you'll get there.

The good thing about this sign and placement is you stick with it and follow through. Did I mention it has good self control.
