I'd like to know if you've been the north node person or the planet/point person who aspected the north node of another, how did you feel respectively?

I've had people aspect my north node. I did not enjoy it much. I liked them but it was very limited. At one point I cut the contact with those people and I didn't look back on it.
I've also been the planets/angle person aspecting the north node of another. Well I love being around them. My mercury aspects a guy's north node, I feel like commenting and talking to him from time to time even if he's miles away and not really my friend. It's like something I have to do.

So, I am curious to know what your experiences have been respectively.

About the Nodes, you should know that only the conjunctions, oppositions and squares count. So actually if someone aspects your North Node at the same time he aspects your South Node too.

For me the Nodal connections are very powerfull, especially if the Sun or Moon are involved.
I've been both the Sun and the Node in various connections, and I agree that being the Sun is way better.

But no matter what, even if you are the Sun or the Node ,both people will find it extemely hard to let go of the other person, and they will keep coming back or always feel that they should have tried harder.

My Venus conj his NN - love! But not gonna happen in this life time. We both care about each other though.

My Sun conjunct her NN - felt like swatting her over the head wiith a fly swatter. Intelligent girl, attractive - zero self esteem. I couldn't take it anymore and drifted out of the friendship. I tried to encourage her but I wasn't going to make it my day time job!

My Jupiter conj his NN - cut him out of my life completely. Jupiter is pretty important in my chart. It's in Pisces. When someone is so far removed from his higher self its just difficult for me to feel the connection. He is very out of touch with the spiritual side of things.

His Mars conj my NN - can't stand this placement. I've had it twice. They just anger me. I much prefer Mars conjunct SN.

His Jupiter conj my SN - we are close friends. Awesome person!

My Mercury conjunct his NN - I tried being nice and getting him to express himself a bit more than he usually does.. But it didn't really work out. I don't actually like him and I'm mostly avoiding him.

Venus conjunct my SN - They seem to fall for me -even a gay guy with this placement! Lol I feel very comfortable around them - like they get me on an emotional level.

My Moon conjunct his SN - close friends! We have a nice connection and get each other.

Her Moon conjunct my NN - this is my best friend! She's the only person I've been close to for years and years.
My natal Venus is conj my NN as well though - so that might be why.

I can't think of others right now... Not sure if there's a pattern. I feel like it goes one of two ways - either I am very close to them and like them a lot - or - I feel disappointed because they are not living up to my expectations. It seems irrespective of whether I am the Node person or the planet person.

That doesn't ring true to me when I was the node. Like I said I ended cutting those people off. And didn't look back on it.
However Yes it's been hard for me to let go o f the people who I aspected their north node. even if it was only an asteroid (psyche)

Oh that topic is always interesting to me!

The Nodes are fascinating.

But honestly, I still haven't figured out how they work for me in synastry lol.

All I know, from my experience, is that when I put a planet on their South Node, things don't last. There's something "off" about the relationship at some point and I want to break free (or they do, or both).

With North Node, me being the planet person, it usually goes well but again, if it feels like they're too far away from their NN, I don't like being around them for long, cause it's like my energy is being drained.

Now, when someone's planet is on my SN - it feels very familiar but kinda iffy too, just like when my planets on their SN.

My NN and their planet: I don't have much experience with this one but usually there's a natural affinity and we are at ease with each other.

Buuut what is definitely true is that Node connections happen at key moments in our lives and they have a purpose.. They truly point to our soul's evolution.

Jupiter conj. my NN-I learned a lot about myself(NN in 1st house) from them.

Moon conj. my NN-I admire their emotional depth but I have always felt that I can completely see through them.

Sun conj. my NN-My role models.

Mars conj. my NN-They make me feel like I can never compete with them.

I don't know about North Node but South Node are like that. At some point from South Node you can or must grow out. My cousin Sun is on my SN, her Moon is square Node. When we were children she was my role model. It was really difficult to even think about spending less time with her(im younger). Now i don't want to be like her for sure (not that she is a bad person. It's just because i want something else from life)

^ Exactly. South Node connections eventually drain us. Unless there are important North Node connections, too.

I think it also depends on the level of one's evolution, so to speak. You know how some people are deeeeeply seated in their South Node, well they may enjoy SN connections cause it feels comfortable and they don't feel the need/desire to move to their NN.

But someone who's actively moving towards their NN.. probably won't stay for long.

^^My natal pluto is exactly conjunct my NN.Would it make it easier for me to move towards the NN or would it make me obsessed with my SN as pluto is in opposition?

^ ouh, tough one.

I think you can go to both extremes, like focusing way too much on your SN or NN. May be difficult to balance things out. But when you get to your NN.. will be intense! I can only imagine how you react to people who put their planets on your NN/Pluto!

I have Mars conjunct my NN (wide but I can relate) and Pluto widerrr (8°) but it doesn't make it easier cause they're near my DSC so I project them  AND they're out of sign! God help me.

Thanks everyone for your answers, they really make a lot of sense.

I don't know maybe it's just me. my south node is in leo and my north node in aquarius. I never befriended someone who had those sun signs. My parents are both leo moons so in a way I am familiar with the way they express their emotions (but honestly I couldn't tell really.)
My pluto squares my nodes natally and honestly I am drawn towards people who aspect my pluto and then square my nodes more than any others.

from what you wrote it seems that north node connection don't develop as easily as the others aside from your best friend whom you have moon conjunct north node with. But you'r right there doesn't seem to be a pattern .. I kind of feel like when I am the planet or angle person aspecting their NN I WANT to pursue the relationship and have something develop with them while when they aspect my north node, I don't feel that attached...

^ That's weird because it's the other way around for me. South Node = ouch. Not at first though! At first it's sooo magnetic and comfy. You just want to be around the person. Theeen trouble sets in. At least ime, so far.

But with North Node, while it IS scary and like unknown territory, it feels.. I don't know, more exciting I guess. More promising. Or maybe I'm just biased.

Interesting about your Pluto squaring Nodes and how that affects your attraction pattern.. I think it works in a similar way for me. My Moon squares my Nodes and if my Moon isn't aspected in synastry, forget it (but then again, it is the Moon, an essential part of the chart).

^^ since you moon square your nodes, do you find yourself attracted to cancerian types? I am drawn to scorpios. But there are many other explanations in my chart for this so I wanted to see if that could be the pluto square nodes thing.

What surprises me is how different my attitude is whether I am the NN or the planet person. I m the planet: I feel compelled to do something about it and pursue thing with the person. When I am the NN it seems to be much more difficult for me.

Yes! Absolutely. I forgot about this.. now you've reminded me and it makes sense again.

Most guys I ever had feelings for were Cancers or had a personal planet in Cancer. My first boyfriend was a Cancer, too. It's almost creepy.. lol.

But to be honest now it's different. I don't know what happened but I'm not that attracted to Cancer energy anymore. Maybe I'm finally starting to focus more on my actual Nodes and not on the Moon squaring them.

How interesting.
I think you can feel, as the planet person, that you can help them out on their journey. That may be why you feel compelled to "be by their side", you know? But you're reluctant to associate with people who touch your NN cause it's unfamilar territory and it takes us out of comfort zone.. But I'm sure you'll be able to integrate that energy somehow.

Does anyone have any experience with mercury square NN in synastry?

How does it feel for the mercury person?
How about for the NN person?

What would it indicate in a romantic relationship?

NN synastry is my new favorite topic!!!

with the guy im interested in my venus/DSC conjuncts his NN/Pluto/DSC....its love

his NN also trines my ASC and my sun/moon midpoint conjuncts his NN as well

with me being the planet person i feel extremely compelled to love him and take care of him and have his back on anything, but i do get a sense that his not very experienced in his NN department so things like getting to know him deeply is taking a slow pace, very slow pace lol but he expresses his love for me nonthless

with my ex we had NN squared synastry and after a couple years i outgrew him and our relationship got too comfortable where i wanted to explore new horizons again, the love is still there, but i was never IN love, he"ll always be very special to me but his just not what my NN needs

SN synastry too comfortable for me, not exciting enough

I respectfully disagree with this. In the past, I might not have disagreed with this, however, based on some of the recent experiences I've had, I don't think it's ENTIRELY correct that is someone conjuncts your SN they are draining you and you are staying around them because it's comfortable. The SN and the NN are tied together, remember, so anything that touches your SN also touches your NN.

I have had 2 important people come into my life whose Mars have fallen on my SN. Both of these people are very close to me, but are incredibly unsettling to me. The most recent one that I have met I have actually felt is PUSHING ME TOWARD my NN from his Mars conjuncting my SN. (I have NN in Gemini in the 7th and SN in Sadge in the 1st). What I mean to say with that is, he is fully occupying the 'role' of the Mars in Sagittarius, and so he's not allowing me to fall back into my usual SN 'know it all/teacher routine.' He is the teacher and the leader, and I am required to be the student who relinquishes control and in some ways becomes interdependent (Gemini 7th house). It drives me absolutely batty. It is extremely uncomfortable for me, but I know that he is correct and I also know that it is something I need to accomplish for my own growth. I don't know how long he will be around (possibly not for long), but it has been interesting. Additionally, his NN axis and my NN axis square each other to the degree. Might have something to do with it.

The other friend I have with his Mars on my SN is similar, but in a less active way. He simply is unmovable and the theme is not as apparent. However, he does require me to learn and think in a different way when I'm around him.

So yeah... I'm not entirely sure that someone who has planets on your SN is always draining or a negative influence in which you are stuck. I think they can in fact push on the NN from the SN to help you grow.

I know this is an old thread but I wanted to bump it in case anyone has further insights. I have a double whammy north node situation with my man -- my north node is conjunct his Chiron and Ascendant (in my 4th house -- this is not comfortable) and his north node is conjunct my IC. Er ... basically both our north nodes are in my 4th house.

What are your thoughts regarding north nodes in synastry? My last relationship didn't have anything aspecting my north node, but I definitely aspected his. Looking at the synastry of that relationship, I think it's likely that he was more affected than I was when it ended. From my Internet research I've deduced that the NN person feels it more, since the NN/SN aren't planets, just points.

What do you think? I kind of like the idea that we both make each other uncomfortable in a this-is-my-future sort of way, but I'd like more information/personal stories if anyone has them. Dawn at http://theinnerwheel.com says that nodal contacts to the MC/IC is a big indicator of a long-term partnership.
