Topic: How do you feel around Virgo ascendants?

When I start a new job or a new class people never naturally approach me unless I approach them first.I've been told by people that eventually get to know me that upon first meeting me, I come off as stand-offish and unapproachable. Some people have even told me that they thought I was mean. This probably has to do with me not being very talkative with first approach. IP: Logged |

When Virgo is ascending, you appear practical and knowledgeable and with Capricorn sun, you have the determination to back up it up. Virgo can be uptight though and yes, we can alienate others, some have made an art of it. If you focus on ways to put others at ease, it helps with this. I was once told people just want to feel good about themselves so if you make this possible, they will like you. If you make them feel bad, they won't like you.IP: Logged |

^This.I do think you guys can come across as quite.. coldish and formal. So it makes it difficult to warm up to you, except maybe for Firey people. IP: Logged |

i wonder if earth ascendants in general get this kind of reception. i'm cap rising and people have told me the exact same thing

My ascendant trines my Sun!
The last thing I try to do is alienate others. I get off on making people feel great about themselves. It's probably the Virgo ascendant as well as my sixth house Venus in Pisces. IP: Logged |

Air people have no problem getting to know me, but I'm sure they have no problem getting to know anyone.

Now that you mention it, I've noticed the same thing, actually. Earth sign on the ASC usually makes people come across as very withdrawn/reserved or at the very least selective. Sometimes too much so. They lack a certain "social grace", imo (of course this is just generally speaking!).

Yes! In formal functions or in any function where we have to take turns to speak, I believe my ascendant shines the most. But if we're not taking turns to speak then I come off as not having much to say when I actually like to let everyone else say what they need to say and then I try to make my input. @ Doux Reve Am cap rising...cap risings are always courteous and polite,may be in a very snobbish sort of way but rarely are we rude ...well as far as I'm concerned I don't get rude people! I won't say we lack social graces, I'd rather say we are awkward,gauche beings trying to fit in..at least the young cap risings but as we grow older you bet we'll master the art of socializing to perfection! And they come across as very calm. I like that about Capricorn though. They just keep their head cool. Taurus ascendant can be very unpleasant and brusque (while it feels like they can explode from the inside). Or at least in my experience. And Virgo can send of a very criticising vibe, like 'nothing is ever good enough, nor will it ever live up to the standards'' and OMG did you NOT iron your shirt this morning!?"

HAha awesome! My Leo Sun Scorpio Moon best friend has ASC Virgo conj Saturn 12H. She is very unconsciously rigid. When her ASC progressed into Libra though, she softened up a bit. I love the above analogy because it is so true. She is very approachable, loyal, and goodhearted. Pisces is in the 7th house so that placement is strong.
My best friend is a virgo asc, shes just a gem of a person.
Our synastry is good so our meeting experience was perfect.An experienced virgo asc will analyze others because they do not want to be taken advantage of by selfish people. So they come across as an ice maiden and then drown you in a sea of love when they like you. They have really perfect facial features so I can't stop staring at them lol... IP: Logged |

I think the best way to deal with having this ascendant is this: go talk to people and give them a big hug and/or smile, it wont take off the others effects, but will help people to see that you aren't that unapproachable!IP: Logged |
