I just finished reading Anna and the King of Siam two days ago. The reason I picked up that because is because I have a Moon in Leo and Linda Goodman recommended reading it if you want to understand the Leo man.

All is not roses and honey in a love affair with a lion, and that includes the quiet pussycats along with the flashy torn cats. There's no difference in the basic nature. Every woman in love with a Leo should get a copy of Anna and the King of Siam and study it well. The Siamese monarch was a typical Leo and you'll get invaluable tips from Anna's technique. First the provocative challenge to interest him, then final feminine submission after you've taught him you won't be completely devoured. Truly, her story is a must. Sleep with it under your pillow.

Now as I read Anna and the King of Siam it is revealed the King's birthday is in October 18 so thus actually making him a Libra by Sun Sign.

However early on in the story I felt a very Leonine vibe. The king is dashing and playful. He can get quite ARROGANT and is quick to punish people who insults him. However he is also forgiving and with Anna's requests he frees several prisoners and saves one from execution (though it should be noted without Anna's pleas he probably would have left them locked up and he has a priest and a young girl executed by being burned alive).

The King is a NOTORIOUS WOMANIZER and has a harem of hundreds of women with hundreds of kids from his affairs with his numerous mistresses.

The King is incredibly devoted to both his self-image and Siam. Multiple times throughout the story he takes Siam's image as though its his own and he takes care to show Europeans how great a nation Siam his from grooming some of his mistress into European fashion and manners to impressing European guests with extravagant banquets.

When some missionaries called him spare, he got angry and ordered all European in Bangkok to attend a feast. In the feast he shown just how vigorous he is the the point he British ambassador stated "It would be a sad day for the country if her King ever became a spare man".

So he seems very Leo to me.

It should be noted the real King of Siam-Mongkut-has his chart available on Astro-databank and it doesn't show Leo as his Moon or Rising Sign either (though his Moon is in Aries).I haven't studied the rest of his chart so I don't know how many Leo planets he has.

I am going by the context of Margaret Landon's book, not the real King of Siam.

What do you think? Despite Linda Goodman stating he's a stereotypical Leo he's stated in the book to be a Libra as I mentioned earlier. However he really does seem more Leo and I would say he's probably a Leo Riser and Leo Dominant going by his personality in Landon's novel. I agree with Linda his personality is that of a stereotypical Leo.

lol - it's hard to tell with a literary character/film character!

And, it's also sometimes hard to tell the difference between a Leo, an Aries, and a Libra... >.>;

Libra can be vain, Leo can be dramatic, and Aries can be pompous,

But, each of those traits can be fit to each other sign in that triad, given the right circumstances...

I wonder though... My little Aries Sun, Libra Moon, Leo Rising...

oh yes... he will be... XD

nah, Linda picked out a great example of the loud Leo, so people would be able to recognize those traits when they encounter them on their own or through charts... it doesn't mean she actually believed either the fictional ruler or actual monarch was a Leo. Just that they had the personality of a Leo.

You know, a person can get solar energy from aspects and placements besides the obvious, right?

5th house Suns... whether it is in Libra or Gemini, they will still be a touch Leonine.

Sun in the 1st can be as well (for a time Leo did start the astrological house wheel), and then there's Solar dominants... and Leonine duad or decans... Leo decan and (is it night? ) birth, in Leo duad Sagittarius placements... >.>; Hello, little lions! XD

By the way sugar, Rama IV had his Mars in Leo 0* ~ yaoza!

Sun opp Moon and Sun square Mars are very strong aspects to have... Sun is fairly dominant in his chart, without time... (set to default I believe)... so, it is possible his rising is off... likely actually Sun in 1st... I wouldn't be surprised...

He also seems to have been (in reality) pretty strong with Mercurial energy (wide Uranus cnj/strong Mercury...) If he was a 1st house sun, his Mars would likely fall on the MC, which acts quite a bit like Mars in Capricorn (exalt).

Seems interesting... but, I'm exhausted! g'night! mmm Leo Mars <3 *dream* haha
