In the context of the relationship, unless you were born with the sign in Libra/Taurus or have other Libra/Taurus placements, Venus serves an integral part in your intimate relational abilities.Venus is the part that we don’t recognize about ourselves until we come into contact with others. A Sun in Taurus with Venus in Gemini will say “oh my, I know myself not to say a whole lot but I am so talkative with these people. Where did that come from?”
When relating to others intimately, we exhibit our Venus placement; because that is how we “attract” others to us and also that is how we are drawn to others.
Upon establishing this rapport, the role of the Moon becomes that much more pertinent. Now that we have “attracted” that which we want, we nurture (Moon) the relationship to maturity (Saturn).
The more emotionally invested we are in the relationships (Moon), the more difficult it is to break up (Saturn)-this is true for both friendships and romance.
Venus then is the “open” door, the “opportunity” to let others in as well as the initiative we take to “merge” with others etc. It can be for desire, sex, procreation, pleasure (as when Venus is in Taurus) or companionship, affinity and like-mindedness (as Venus is in Libra). Usually context will define which is which.
So, the Sun in Cancer is the individual. But in relating to others, the individual will turn to Venus in Gemini as the “open door”. Essentially, it is the Sun that is brought to the relationship (not Venus), but Venus is the “door”.
So Venus in Gemini, when relating to others, will be talkative, charming, good with words, quick-thinking, playful, easily conversing etc. The Gemini energy will “beautify” Cancer, adding a facet to the personality that others will readily relate to (and this happens instinctively without us even being aware).
Another example would be a Sun in Libra who has Venus in Virgo. Again, it is the Sun that is being brought forth through Venus.
In this instance, however, Libra is already a sign that is knowledgeable about relating to others. Libra is already consciously aware of the “other” and what is means to “merge” with another; their conscious energy gravitates towards “union”.
So, in this instance, Venus in Virgo will play a role of “discernment”. Typically he/she will be intellectually well-versed, dress smartly, appear congenial, unassuming and very attentive. They will often seem very “formal” in their manner of relating to others.
That is why Virgo is said to be in its “fall” in Virgo-because relating to others with the intention to attract- is not supposed to be a formal /procedural affair. (Scorpio, Capricorn and Aries are also challenging Venus placements)
