Someone in my family has put on 90 pounds in the last 2-3 years. They are young and don't have any health issues and no kids. This person has cancer rising and Jupiter aspecting many of their planets.

What kind of transts can cause this. Should I look to solar returns? They went from 120 to over 200 pounds in such a small time frame.

I have heard that and it worries me because Jupiter will be going into cancer soon and that is her rising.

Maybe you should ask them if they are depressed or struggling with anything. I don't know how young, but either they've packed on a lot of muscle through puberty. Or they've increased their food intake significantly for some reason.

There are some body types who are better at gaining and losing mass than others. Still Large weight gain like that could be indicative of depression or other potential problems.

Learn lots. Don't judge. Laugh for no reason. Be nice. Seek Happiness. Follow your dreams.

If this a woman, she may have PCOS, a metabolic disorder that causes weight gain among other problems, like difficult periods, ance, depression, high blood pressure, difficulty regulating blood sugar levels, difficulty getting preganant and of course, ovarian cysts, which often are painful when the woman ovulates or her period starts and can sometimes rupture (I had to be hospitalized from that when I was just 13). It's a chronic and serious medical condition and can result in serious health problems down the road, including diabetes, if not addressed and managed. That means, she needs to see a doctor, not an astrologer! I know because I have this myself. I have to stay on a low carb diet to keep my weight down an control my blood sugar, as PCOS has caused me to develop insulin resistence.

PCOS is diagnosed by either having three or more of its symptoms or by testing hormonal levels. It is best managed through exercise and diet, and sometimes birth control pills are used help regulate irregular periods and reduce ovarian cysts. For some women, they use medication to better manage the hormonal imbalances that cause PCOS, but since I don't have insurance I have to rely on exercise and diet.

Here's more info on PCOS:
http://women.webmd.com/tc/polycystic-ovary-syndrome-pcos-topic-overview

Chronic conditions like PCOS are not caused by transits--it is caused by genetics and post-puberty hormones. However the native may be influenced by transits and thus behave in ways that may make managing their PCOS harder or easier. I know I've had some transits where staying on my diet is very hard (damn you, Jupiter!). Transits can also make someone with undiagnosed PCOS more or less willing to seek a diagnosis. My suggestion is to be supportive and present her with information on the web about PCOS. Remember that thanks to how our society cruelly shames women for having excess weight, depression or other issues that PCOS causes, it can make the person very sensitive to talking about what symptoms they may be experiencing. So be tactful.

Here's a link to a currently active support forum for women with PCOS or who think they may have it that you can share with her:
http://soulcysters.net/

Sometimes it helps women to know they aren't the only one struggling with this.

She is in her late 20s. Things seem to be going good for her. She started working at a bakery in 2007-2008 (not everyone who works at a bakery gains 80 lbs)and didn't start gaining weight until 2010.

She seems happy. She has lots of friends and just got married.

The Jupiter thing must be by transit, because I have Jupiter in the 1st and I'm quite slender. Of course, it trines my Saturn, so maybe that has something to do with it.
