What placements or aspects (maybe even asteroids?) could show a habit for drug use? *edit* I suppose I mean more addiction than just "drug use." I've heard similiar things from more than one person all basically saying "I just wanted to get high."

I know the common response would be "Pisces placements," And I can't say that I haven't dabbled in some things... but in the few instances I'm referring to, there aren't any planets in Pisces. One person has a Pisces MC.

So, besides Pisces..any insight or thoughts as to aspects or maybe house placements?

I know a lot of Taurus sun men who are everyday marijuana users. Especially with earth or fixed moon

I know quite a few addicts but I don't know their time of birth. There should be a connection between the 12H of self-undoing, 2H of habits, Neptune, the ascendant or maybe even 5H of pleasure and 6H of health.

Drug use isn't a habit for my partner but he does smoke up from time to time.
He has:

12H in Pisces = self undoing
MC conjunct Rx Neptune
Neptune square Asc - the physical body
Neptune sextile 7H Pluto (things illegal)
Pluto opp Jupiter in the 2H of habits
Jupiter/2H in Taurus - pleasure
If we consider traditional astrology, Jupiter becomes the primary ruler of his 12th.

My ex's chart - was an addict for several years:

Pisces intercepted in 1H
Jupiter in 12H
12H in Capricorn
29 Scorpio Saturn conjunct Sun
Saturn disposited by Scorpio Pluto
Pluto sextile Capricorn Neptune

2H of Habits in Aries
Debilitated Libra Mars in 8th
Libra, again, is the sign of pleasure

Libra disposited by Scorpio Venus in fall
Venus conjunct Malefic South Node and Pluto
Venus square Jupiter in 12H

6H in Cancer
Moon in debility in Capricorn square Mars

This is kind of a "Pisces" answer, but I've seen Neptune in close, hard contact with the Sun, Moon, and/or Saturn yield those with a desire for dissolution which often manifests as heavy drug use.

Prominent, afflicted Neptune is considered a classic addiction aspect. But I've also seen difficult Mars-Saturn aspects or placements (especially when one or both is in the 12th house, or aspecting it--maybe aspecting Neptune!) in a number of addicts' charts.

The Mars-Saturn connection makes a lot of sense. Addicts tend to be, as what one recovering herion addict once told me, "egomanics with zero self-esteem". Mars is the ego, the love of self, the implusiveness, the need for a quick fix, while Saturn is the inner critic, obsessing over inadequacies and failures that drive them to be self-destructive.

--Elliott Smith, whose chart I've studied a lot, and was a known chronic alcoholic but also abused crack, speed and prescription pills, had 12th house Saturn tightly quincunx 7th house Mars,an a 6th house Neptune conjunct his DC and opposing his Taurus moon/ASC. Is one looks at his lyrics, there is a lotof references to drinking and getting high in response to relationships problems or causing relationship problems.

--John Frusciante, who had an epic battle with crack, meth and herion addiction, has Aries Mars conjunct Taurus Saturn, wth Mars quincunxing his Neptune. His time of birth is unknown, but my best guess would be a later Scorpio ASC, placing his 0 Sag Neptune in 1st house near the ASC and that Mars-Saturn conjunction in his 6th (his addiction was severely damaging to his health).

--Spencer Tracy. known for his chronic alcoholism that contributed to his divorce and later-life dependency on Katherine Hepburn, had a 12th house Cap Saturn squaring a 2nd house Mars-Mercury conjunction.

--Edgar Allan Poe, whose alcoholism and opium addiction led to poverty and likely contributed to his early death, had 12th house Libra Mars semi-squared a 2nd house Sag Saturn-Neptune conjunction.

--John Lennon, whose problems with alcohol led to domestic violence and public outbursts, had Taurus Saturn-Jupiter conjunction sesqui-quadrate Libra Mars conjunct Virgo Neptune. His ASC is disputed. Some say Aries or Libra. I personally think he was a Leo ASC, which places his Mars in his 2nd house and Saturn in the 10th.

--Marilyn Monroe, who was dependent on prescription drugs, had a trine between her 4th house Scorpio Saturn and 8th house Pisces Mars (oh boy); HOWEVER, her 1st house Neptune squared her Saturn and quincunxed her Mars, making a pretty tight "mystic triangle" which probably amped up her magnetism and charisma but also drove her profound disilluion and disappointment with career, relationships, success and the "real world".

I could go on--I know a TON of examples of how Neptune, Saturn and Mars, and often the 12th house too, appear to interplay in the charts of addicts, but I think that should be enough to for you to get the basic idea.

Remember, such placements and aspects only indicate potential, and not necessarily that someone is an addict.

I have Saturn trine Mars and even Sun conjunct Neptune and I am only open to weed and some psychedelics (haven't tried them though). I would never take heroine, coke and so on, that's just stupid.

I have a Pisces Rising and lots of tight Neptune squares ( square Sun, ASC, Mars and opposite Saturn) and also I have a tight Mars/Saturn square, its a T-square actually of Mars-Neptune - Saturn, and I dont use drugs and never been attarcted to it. I occasionaly smoke cigarettes, thou. Like 4-5 cigs a day. Dont mind weed if it happen to come close by me. ( last time was 5 years ago). Dont use alcohol except for a glass of wine or martini on the weekends. That's pretty much all. I have no idea why i am not high on a daily basis. With Neptune like this, I should be at least an AAA member.

^ For me - a Pisces Sun tightly opposed to Saturn, tightly square Neptune, and with Neptune/Saturn tightly square - I don't smoke, am not into drugs, and hardly ever drink because I've noticed a high propensity towards addictive behaviors in me and don't want to tempt fate.

I definitely have an addictive personality and fear I may abuse harder drugs more regularly when I am older.

- I have a Cap Sun which is conjunct Saturn and Neptune
- Mars Trine Saturn
- Mars Sesquiquadrate Neptune
- Moon Quincunx Pluto
- Moon Quincunx Neptune

Pluto is in my 11th house (and in Scorpio), but rules both 11th and 12th house.

Aside from Pisces, let's look at planets and then it gradiates down into signs and house influence...

Neptune is the obvious drug ruler, but I would also look at Pluto - it's nature is destructive and obsessive. Venus is another culprit for recreational drug use - it's nature is indulgent and pleasure seeking.

I've also got a prominant and hard-aspected Neptune and I've never tried any drugs, not even a cigarette.

I've read a lot of posts on this thread associating Neptune with drug use, but Neptune is really about ESCAPE, not drugs. Obviously drugs are one way to escape reality, but it could just as well be reading books, internet use, sex, or religion!

I think you need to ask WHY the person is using drugs. Pleasure? Escape? "Mind expansion"? To fit in with others? Because that's what other's in their family do? Boredom? Different reasons can be caused by different planets/aspects/houses.

I find it surprsing that pisces are the stereotypical drug users.

I can only speak for myself but I have Pisces moon 12H, Pisces rising, and my Sun/Moon midpoint conjuncts Neptune. I've never felt the need to use drugs, especially for means of escape. I feel like my mind does enough of that on it's own.

Thank you all for your replies

peach - you described my brother, Taurus Sun with a Scorpio Moon. He doesn't go a day without smoking weed lol

One of the people's charts I was looking at has:
Gem Sun Opp Sag Neptune
Gem Mars trine Jupiter/Saturn/Moon conjunction in Libra
Jupiter/Saturn/Moon stellium square Neptune
Not sure of birthtime for him so house placements aren't accurate.

Another has:
Cancer intercepted in 12H
5H Sag Moon square 3H Virgo Saturn and widely conjunct (10 degrees) Neptune
1H Leo Sun/Merc trine 5H Sag Neptune
11H Gem Mars opp 5H Sag Neptune
11H Gem Mars trine 4H Libra Pluto
3H Virgo Saturn square 5H Sag Neptune

The Leo sun person seems to have grown up and out of the lifestyle (probably a lot of thanks owed to that Virgoan Saturn ) he was creating for himself which makes me happy because I love him dearly.

The Gemini sun person, I wish I could say the same. At this point I don't see being clean or even a desire for it on the horizon. There are times (usually when he causes injury to himself) when he'll stay sober for a few weeks at a time, but he goes right back to it after those few weeks are up and the bruises/scabs are healed. Heavy drinking along with meth and/or coke use.

1 last person I was looking at:
ASC Cancer
3H Virgo Moon trine 6H Cap Neptune
Neptune Opp ASC
3H Virgo Moon square 5H Sag Saturn
12H in Gemini
5H Cap Neptune semisextile 8H Aqua Mercury

And just to clarify, the reason I said besides Pisces, isn't because I think Pisces are stereotypical zodiac drug user..It's more because I was expecting "Neptune-like" answers and didn't want it to be about Pisces, especially since none of the charts I was looking at had Pisces placements, except the one Pisces MC.
