Does anybody have either your Sun in someone's 1st or someone else has their Sun in your 1st? I've been reading about this overlay, and although a few tidbits of info here and there seem fairly on target, most I've what I've read is the opposite of my experience.

A young woman I've known since high school has her Pisces Sun conjunct my ascendant. It's a 12th/1st house blend, and when we reunited for the first time in about 11 years (since our 5 year high school reunion), she invited me over to her home and showed me all of her memorabilia from her days of teaching, etc.. I felt like I was in her private sanctuary (12th house side of things), yet she seemed completely at ease and herself disclosing all of it to me (1st house). She'd later tell me "Isn't it great when you can just be yourself?" thinking I felt 100% comfortable being myself around her--not entirely, but I didn't know how to break that to her gently.

In other words, contrary to quite a lot of what I'm reading online about how the 1st house person can be themselves around the Sun person, I'm finding that the opposite is the case.

Anyone else?

Yes! I agree with you on this one.
I've had the same experience, several times.

When their Sun is in my 1st, they usually see me as a good friend, someone they can relate to, someone they can be themselves with. And the reverse is true: when my Sun falls in someone's 1st house, I feel comfortable with them, I am not afraid of being myself and I feel like they can understand me better than others - generally.

So, the Sun person tends to relate to the ASC person more, in my experience.

Okay, thanks, Doux Rêve. I always prefer other people's experiences over apparently textbook interpretations which speculate at best. I wasn't exactly uncomfortable with my friend showing me her memorabilia, but it felt like it would never end. That could be what happens with a 12th/1st house blend. Not that it's uncomfortable per se, but more like "more than you're used to handling, all at once."

Also, I think what it is... if someone has their sun "tucked away" in a house other than the 1st, providing them with a 1st house outlet frees them to open up in ways they might not have otherwise. Not that they can't be themselves if their Sun is in any of the other 11 houses, but I've noticed how they "lose their filter" once their Sun is in someone else's 1st.

Yes, absolutely.

"lose their filter" is a very good way to put it!

And I agree with you, it's always better to hear some personal experiences and not just a cookbook description.

I have a Sun 1st house overlay DW in our synastry. There are several things that can be ascribed to this ovelay: we were both surprised at the instant ease we had with each other. I feel more special when I'm with him, which is not quite the same as being myself. His view of me is helping me see myself a new light - the light of his Sun. This raises self-esteem. It is great if I am doing the same for him.

There are other aspects, however, which could also contribute to the above.

@ Lotis White, do tell why you like 1st house overlays.

i feel the same about a guy. Also I felt like I saw sides of myself I have never really seen before, did hardly know where there. And just really felt even more myself than before. Actually I felt more like my "inner child". LOL

His Sun-Moon-MC in my 1st house; his Mercury conjuncts my ASC.

I have known some people with their Suns in my 1st house, but for some reason only he makes me feel that way.

I find Cafeastrology's description for the Sun person applies to me as I am both the house and the Sun person - one feels more self-aware, valuable, recognised.

"You energize and stimulate your partner, making him or her more self-aware. In turn, you feel more valuable, recognized, vital, and important as a result of your partner's reactions to you."

Understandable, but I guess I'm looking for those who have another's Sun in their non-Sun occupying 1st house. But, all feedback related to this topic are welcome!

Yes, 12thouser, I'm that. I'm both house and Sun person because we have a DW overlay. See earlier post. My sun is in my 3rd house while his in the 10th.

I agree with you guys about that.. I've had a few friends/acquaintances with their sun in my 1st and they tend to be more open and comfortable in the beginning. I've also had this in synastry and it was a weird experience that's sort of made me want to possibly avoid it in the future lol. His sun and Jupiter were in my 1st house widely conjunct my ASC

"When your Sun is in your romantic partner’s first house, your partner sees you as a very interesting and highly attractive. You can exert a great deal of power and influence over your partner’s self esteem, his or her creativity, and ability for confident self-expression. You will find for good or ill that you get more of whichever of your romantic partner’s qualities or faults you place your attention on. Choose wisely. When your romantic partner’s Sun is in your first house, your sense of self can get muddled up. Your partner has many of the qualities that you desire to emulate. You are likely to experience the feeling that you are more or less confident in yourself and your relationship according to your relationship partner’s opinions about you. http://www.douban.com/note/230204492/

This was verrrry true for me.

I think the Sun recognizes themselves in the ASC person, so they feel safe letting their guard down, but because they're instantly comfortable, they don't feel the need for an invitation and it's almost like the 1st house person has no choice lol. They're standing in your personal space and generally that's not unwelcome since they seem to fit in there, but there's not really the barrier that usually exists if the house person wants to keep some things to themselves. In my situation I felt like I couldn't hide anything from him, like he would always just know where I was coming from or what my motives were. And also that he saw and accepted me on whatever level without me having to explain anything (like saw and understood my flaws but still believed in my full potential type thing). So because of that what he thought about me mattered and impacted me more than I think it usually would. Like I guess I felt like since he understood me so deeply, if he believed something about me it was probably true...

So yeah that's probably an extreme example, but that's been my experience with it..

Interesting thread. I've found in my experiences that the 1st house person is somewhat in awe or feels inspired by the Sun person.

For example, one of my old best friends had his Ascendant in Libra conjunct my Sun in Libra. He was like in awe of me sometimes, at how connected we were, my personality, and how our compatibility seemed to be off the charts. That feeling wasn't as strong for me being the Sun person. His Sun was in my 12th house so maybe that's why our connection felt stronger for him then for me. He definitely let it all hang out around me, which until I got to know him better I couldn't reciprocate. I felt bad sometimes because it wasn't as easy for me to feel 100% comfortable around him when we first became friends. I just needed to get to know him better. But over time, I managed to meet him on his level and we became best friends. It was one of the strongest friendship connections I've ever had though.

I definitely agree that 1st house overlays in synastry can be magical stuff.

I can't contribute much or top the previous replies, but...

I just met this guy and he really likes me. My Sun and Mercury is in his 1st House. It's really easy for me to make him laugh really hard. I enjoy this aspect. I think it's cute.
