Seeing as I've been rewatching Saint Seiya and I've read so far half way through the spinoff Lost Canvas, I though to make a thread!

So far just a general discussion of the series (it is a Zodiac-Themed Fiction afterall) but I will soon be posting charts of the characters

I've been discussing with a friend I met on a Saint Seiya Forum about the series on DeviantArt very recently so I can start on a few character interpretations.

Cancer Manigold -Cancer with Scorpio Rising.

Scorpio Kardia-Scorpio with Aries Rising

Phoenis Ikki-Leo with Scorpio Rising and Gemini Moon.

Leo Aiolia -Leo with Capricorn Rising and Aquarius Moon

Libra Dohko-Libra with Leo Rising

Aries Shion-Aries with Scorpio Rising

Aquarius Camus -Aquarius with Virgo Rising and Moon in Capricorn + Capricorn Dominant.

I'll post more detailed charts once I finish LC and the Classic TV Series and few more debates with my friends int he Saint Seiya fandom.

The above are what I came up with either quickly (for the LC characters) or from what I remember (for the Classic characters).

This is my FAVORITE FICTION of all time along with Gone With the Wind and this is what got me into Astrology so expect this thread to expand over 10 PAGES!

My favs for Classic has always been Aiolia and Camus as far as the Goldies (though when I was getting into Astrology I did fanboy over Aphrodite but that was mainly because I was a Pisces and not so much because I enjoyed his character :joker go and for the Bronzies Seiya wins handsdown no matter how much the fandom :hate: him !Ikki is also up there as one of my favs.

LC I would say Aquarius Degal and Cancer Manigold so far from what I read.

I also am now a fanboy of Kanon who is easily one of the most developed characters in the whole series and the most important secondary character (don't get me started ).

Yesss, I loved Sailor Moon too I was a few years old when they played it on tv and I'm still sentimental about it. Then Dragon Ball appeared and I went crazy again Damn, someday I gotta buy DB and SM DVDs and rewatch them.

I'll consider giving Saint Seya a shot, all the more since I'm fascinated by Greek mythology

Just bear in mind that Dragon Ball at least the anime is VERY BORING with lots of its BS fillers. You may not remember it but at times its really tedious (I just hate those whole episodes of nonstop yelling and screaming :mad .

The manga is a whole different story (WAY superior to the anime as it gets traight to the point and Toriyama's art design and fight choreography is simply gorgeous).

Oh you can't find Saint Seiya's manga online and I don't think they ever aired it in Poland nor publish the manga there.

But you can find the original TV Series online subbed in English.

First 70s episodes for convenience sake here and you can find the rest on Veoh (its a bit difficulty so feel free to post in this thread if you're looking for anything past Episode 70 online and I will post links).

http://www.animecrazy.net/saint-seiya-episode-1/

You'll quickly be gripped by the first episode .

If you're interested in just going straight off to the spinoff series Lost Canvas (no need to start with Classic, it can be read even if you never heard of Saint Seiya) here's the entire Manga (which I'm reading currently online at).
http://www.mangareader.net/421-26881-16/saint-seiya-the-lost-canvas/

As I rewatch Episode 3 of Classic, here is my interpretation of Seiya so far:

He is a Sagittarius with a Moon in Libra and Aries Rising . I just his brash personality,

Rule 1 Never Ever watch a mange in english or dubbed or whatever.

When western touch it, all things dissappear, voice acting becomes bored acting(do i hear cowboys yippie yeah, im a good guy and i talk like a real american hero LMAO...)

Japanese is the home of manga, and when u see a bad ass, u will hear a bad ass, and he will feel like a bad ass, because its not put out there soo much, subtle power show offs in stances or words, stares or thoughs..

Intonations so important, lmao DBZ english

For its is san Goku and not Goku
Its San Gohan and not Gohan

Are you kidding me? The original release of Z had lots of dumbshit filler that literally made it so boring to watch as opposed to the manga. I mean whole episodes of nonstop talking before the first blows thrown?Don't even get me started on the whole episodes of charge-up screaming and yelling just to transform into SSJ or to charge up an attack

A lot of the changes were necessarily because of the Puritan Standards in the West(esp. the United States) as well as language/cultural differences (which is why they turned Aphrodite into a girl in the French dub).

Want the heck are you talking about? Its always been called Saint Seiya in Japan.

I think what you mean is the translation into "Knights of the Zodiac"?Its not just in United States, it was generally released as that World Wide esp. Europe and South America. Understandable when you consider the religious differences in those regions.

k before u get the kamehamehaaa's out and blast this forum to pieces with ya ki..

Point is manga is made in Easter part of world, with a different culture and point of view of things, honor/moral stuff like that..many times a good manga will show u the character development emotionaly/spiritualy

Why he choose to fight or do the things he does, with all characters around him finding new meanings at certain points..Depth is what its called best..

and my friend DBZ has no depth in characters...compared to saint seiya..

But u shouldnt compare them anyway, cuz they are very different producers..

quality wise saint seiya>dbz

the music/the scenery/the storytelling and the use of so many different archetypes.
A far better comradery and all have nemesis that returns hat they can fight only themself without comradery
The difference in each fighting style based on personality..

But entertaining wise, i think they both are equal just different..

i just think eastern is better at building up to something using music in their advantage..western doesn't use that 'emotion charge music' oh well

if u never knew better ^^ its okay, whatever u like most

Aqua86 I'm a LOOONNGGG Time fan of the Saint Seiya. I rewatched it twice and am on my third rewatch + the Hades OVA and I'm almost finished with Lost Canvas and I watched the OVA of that last year. I am familiar with Saint Seiya of course

Kerosene I HATE Pisces Aphrodite. Actually I admitted initially to be a fanboy when I rewatched the series because at the time I was getting into Astrology and learning about my sign but once I started getting into the rest of my chart, I began to ******* hate him.

But Camus and Aiolia were always my favorite.Milo, had he played a more important role, would easily be up there too. He is so SCORPIO and LEO (but his exposure is so little ).

For LC Degel,Kardia, and Manigold are my favorite !

Wha is this Lost canvas u speeak about?!?

Ive seen well u know the whole 12 sign temple thing.

And i got the asgard box
And the poseidon
And sanctuary
i bought inferno and elysium but those dont work on my dvd player :'(

ye Camus pretty awesome, especially the icecube hyoga lesson part.

I think Milo played his role well enough.
The way he plays with his victim and always give them a chance to attack and then==>scarlet needle
Scorpio likes a challenge so always give them a chance to get back up, do not forget scorpio respect willpower in victims, so might not destroy it because he represent it himself.

How can u forget Shaka :'(
u remember his scene when he was little talking to buddha..and then see him fight when he is a saint, so different style almost like milo, only Shaka give u ability to repent and turn away, noone will disturb his peace

You mean you haven't heard of Lost Canvas?!

Hhhmm did you watch the main TV Series when it was on air in Europe back in the 80s and 90s? Because in Japan and South America even non-Saint Seiya anime enthusiasts have heard of Lost Canvas at least. Its the craaaazzzeee in the fandom right now only to be outmatched by the rumors of an Episode G and Next Dimensional anime adaptation.

Yeah Camus was so touching at least in the manga. The anime downplayed his role int he story because of the filler Crystal Saint taking place as his master and I still remembed the first time I watched SS I was wondering why Hyoga was crying so hard when he met an illusion of Camus in Atlantis. The manga cleared it all up for me and I admit I cried to when I rewatched that scene.

I just ignore the existence of the Crystal Saint in the anime and just imagine the plot exactly like in the manga as far as Camus goes.

Milo really had so much potential. I say he's not given that much of a role compared to the other Gold Saints but at least he wasn't killed during the Bronzies Marathon across the 12 Houses and he actually kills a Specter in the Hades Arc and even did brutal damage to Camus, Shura, and Saga.

His battle against Hyoga was such a BRUTAL BLOODBATH and only the fight with Shura and Shaka outmatches the sense of hopelessness the series is already infamous for. Seeing all that blood spill was brutal in Shonen standards .

Shaka is ******* POWERFUL its not funny. MOST EPIC BRUTAL CURBSTOMP in the series his fight against Ikki and one of the MOST DESPERATE BATTLES in fiction in general not just anime/manga. The fact he even survived an Athena's Exclamation and was the first to unlock the 8th Sense (unless Ikki's constant revival from death counts) just makes him even more badass.

I'd say he's a Double Virgo.

You kidding me?Aphrodite is considered the LAUGHING STOCK of the Gold Saints and only Deathmask is considered weaker (but because he's so masculine and evil the fandom has a sor tof respect for them). I can tolerate Aphrodite being the weakest Goldie but they ******* made him look like a woman. While the Dohko is so masculine and unLibran esp. in his younger form. He's actually more LEO..........

They don't even show him as convincingly charming (even though he was described as the most charming of the Gold Saints).

Now Albafica may have been weak in Gold Saints standards (I'd say the weakest of the Goldies in LC) but at least he had a tough backbone and he was even CHARMY.....

If it wasn't for his poison blood I suspect lots of girls would be chasing him .

Dohko represents the feminine in his old form, as a guider and protector in the spirit sense..making what is hard soft, and what is soft hard. but in a way that is justified only then it cannot be broken because its Equilibrium.

In the same way he trained Shiryu. for he had another student, the rebbelious white tiger. The dragon learnt to see with his heart and become wise and trascend to heaven, especially after he got blind.

While the tiger does not use his heart, but his eyes, and his eyes said he was better, and so grew his unjustified feeling towards his master that he loved shiryu more then him.

So he is driven by a form of hatred and unjustice to prove something that doesn't even matter to prove. For it is not the skill of the saint, but how good he sees with his heart will make a true saint of athena. And a true heart will make them skillfull.A heat with vengeance is weak, for never it is in rest, always easy to provoke..no power does it has to control it own, for its destiny is not in its own hand anymore.

Where young form is more physical, dignified masculine and powerfull sense of justice using his body as tool.

is not the same as the pride and arrogance and confidence from aroria all in a good way ofc, otherwise u dont become golden saint.

It is this why Dohko is a true master, for the grandmaster Shion who died,Dohko lived longer then him yet remained youtfull, for he became Equilibrium the perfect balance.

He is Old and young, feminine and masculine, but he mastered it so he chooses when.True freedom

In Depth the golden saint power is seen, not in their attacks, but in their beings, what they represent.

They all are great saints in their own way, and its always rock/paper scissor. depending against who u fight..no matter how strong u are
