Something I've noticed about aspects between planets in synastry is that the planet involved tends to share its traits with the planet / luminary it aspects.

For example: Pluto (can be) the planet of control, manipulation, and obsession. Yet, when I've read of people's experiences in synastry, they talk about how even though they're the "Pluto person," it's the other person who's controlling, manipulative, and obsessive, and there's no DW happening. It's like the other person's planet was "Plutonized." Same with Neptune aspects from what I've been reading--that the planet person idealizes the Neptune person, rather that the other way around.

That is the way I understand it and that the outer planet has the power.

One couple I know who has the Neptune Venus square, the Venus guy idolizes the Neptune girl. But the Neptune person doesn't put the Venus person on a pedestal. Venus looks at Neptune as the perfect partner but I know the Neptune doesn't feel like that.

Well, one thing I've wondered about is, if an outer planet is aspecting a planet and the outer planet is placed in the sign ruled by the planet it's aspecting, then I wonder who has the power then?

Example, say Pluto is in Libra and trines Venus (either in Aquarius or Gemini)... then I wonder if Pluto still has the power or if Venus does with Pluto being in Libra.

In thinking about the example you gave of Venus square Neptune with Venus idolizing Neptune, I have this aspect natally (Venus in Pisces squaring Neptune in Sag). I'm not sure if by having it natally if I'll feel it less with others since I'm already used to dealing with this aspect in my natal chart, or--for some reason--if I'll feel it more. As far as me putting a S.O. up on a pedestal, maybe in some ways, but in the past, girlfriends have tended to put me up on a pedestal more than I do them, and my Venus would square a whole generation of women my age with the same general Neptune sign placement. (You'd think it might be the other way around with the outer planet having the power, as you said.)

I don't know...lol

Another possibility is projection, like people tend to do with their 7th house. For example, if I don't use initiative (Aries on 7th)by getting more in touch with my Mars engery, I then would tend to attract that kind of energy to myself and then it would appear to me that other people are being "aggressive". So if Venus is aspecting Neptune, it could just be that the Neptune person is projecting their own Neptune energy onto the Venus person and feels like Venus is idolizing them. Perhaps it's very hard for a person to "own" their outer planet energies and so it's more likely that we project them?

Any feedback on this, anyone?
