I don't understand...

Okay, so my ex and I get along because he's a Cap and I'm a Scorp. Well, I mean, that's one of the many reasons, right?

But, also because his Mars conjuncts my ASC and Moon.

But, he's a Cap with a Cap Rising. That doesn't sound very friendly, so how?

Is it because of the Mars thingy? Does that over power? I feel like charts have a hierarchy.

Cap w/ Cap Rising:
You are ambitious, hard-nosed and a realist when it comes to business and life. You are very interested in accumulating worldly power. You have a dynamic personality and are usually a good leader but a stern boss. You believe in the established order and intend to be part of that institution.

You are calculating, detached, self-centered and probably pretty selfish. You may have had quite a struggle in youth, either health wise or emotionally and may have suffered the loss of one or both parents. You will tend to reward yourself for achieving success with luxuries, liking the finer things of life you spare no expense most of the time.

You have strong creative abilities, are extremely responsible and totally bound by duty. Honor and duty is your motto, like the Marines. Your most likely careers are law, medicine, teaching, the military, politician or public administrator. You rise to high positions because you are known for doing a good job under difficult circumstances.

You most likely will attain a high status in society but be careful not to take yourself to seriously by falling into the ego’s self-idealization trap. You are neither the Beauty nor the Beast.

In love and relationships you are supportive but not particularly romantic with a tendency to control your emotions closely. In relationships you operate from power and need a partner who does the same or relating will be disappointing.

So, if you're a straight Scorpio it's called blunt, but if you're a gay Scorpio it's called sass!? Um, excuse me - no.

The hierarchy in synastry is dependent on the relative importance of the planet in the individual's chart. With him being a Cap Sun/Cap Rising, Saturn would be a very important planet in his chart (say top 3 or 4). Therefore, aspects from/to his Saturn would be very important in your synastry with him (in his synastry with anyone really). Which are the top most important planets in your chart? What aspects do they make with his? Those would be the most important planets in your synastry with anyone. When your top planets make aspects with another person's top planets, that's much more powerful, regardless of whether they are "personal" planets or not.

For example, Neptune is a very important planet in my chart because it's in the 1st house, in a tight (8min) square to my Sun, a loose square to my Moon, sitting on my antivertex (6 min orb) and in accidental mutual reception to my chart ruler. Even though Neptune isn't a "personal" planet for most people, it is for me, so its importance in any synastry I have with anyone will be amplified.
