We've all heard that with no Saturn in synastry, the relationship is unlikely to go the distance. But does this apply to Mercury as well? Because I haven't noticed any particular stick-to-it-iveness with couples whose sole Saturn synastry placement is Saturn on Mercury.Does it matter which personal planet receives the Saturn contact? I know a guy who has his Scorpio Mercury conjunct a mutual friend's Saturn. She had a crush on him at one point. He led her on and used her for her social connections. They both have a lot of social-sign influence so they place importance on networking etc. He basically can't stand her personality and often bit*ches about her. From his perspective - his feelings towards her went from neutral to bad. Her feelings went from positive (because he was acting 'nice' & leading her on) - to very negative. Atm she also can't stand him. Because they are in the same social circle - they still interact and they are technically still "friends" - but they are always cynical and sarcastic towards each other. It's all very cold and negative but it keeps going on and on. I doubt any of them will ever end things - so the Saturn/Merc still works as glue... But it's all highly acrimonious! IP: Logged |

I think much would depend on house placement and rulership by those planets in each natal chart. What if the Mercury in in A's natal 5th and Saturn is in B's natal 7th? And how are each planet aspected in the natals and in the synastry? You really can't tell much from just one synastry aspect, and without considering the natals first, it's pretty pointless to even try!IP: Logged |

@Odette - I can defintely see how there would be a platonic obligation there (obligation to communicate) when Saturn & Mercury are involved. But communication isn't the same thing as obligation on a sexual (Mars), romantic (Venus) or intimate (moon) level.IP: Logged |

Well, you may have a point there. Some people run from Saturn because of their natals. IP: Logged |
