Seriously though, you cannot really compare, they are different aspects. Venus conjunct ASC - since the angle is involved, the connection comes to attention, or becomes foreground. But on its own Venus-ASC is more appreciative, more romantic than Venus-Mars, which is maybe a little sexier or steamier, more physical in a sexual sense. But it depends if Venus-Mars is tied to the building blocks of the chart, especially luminaries, angles and nodal axis, or if it is just floating around.

I realize we're talking about Venus conjunct Asc. versus Venus conjunct Mars, but what about Venus in a sign intercepted in the 1st?

Say, a sextile to my Sun, Moon, and Mercury in my 12th. I think that would work, don't you? Venus would be accidentally exalted (since it's by house) in the 12th).

I think it would also depend on what sign the planets are in and whether their placements put them in detriment or fall. People may say that doesn't matter so much, but I think it can.

Yeah, Venus conjunct Asc. would probably be considered more "passive" since the house Asc. person just "shows up." Not that it isn't powerful since it's an angle, but with Mars would present an energy for Venus to interact with.

Venus conjunct ASC would make the ASC person feel truly in love with the Venus person but it could be one sided or even delusional. Whereas Venus conjunct Mars is potent and primal attraction that is mutual. Of course it depends on the Venus and Mars in question. If they're unaspected or afflicted than it creates more of a chaotic and fleeting attraction. But its still more powerful than Venus-ASC.

I disagree.

Both are powerful in their own way. It is just that people usually equate a "powerful" feeling with one that is very overtly sexual or dramatic, which Venus-Mars would be.
However don`t underestimate the power of gentleness.

Mars conjunct ASC is very dynamic and active, guaranteed to pay attention. But not always in a romantic sense.

It might be harder in some ways for me to have a objective perspective on this, since I have Venus conjunct Asc. natally. To the best of my knowledge, I haven't come across anyone (that I know of) with Mars in Pisces that would conjunct my Venus in synastry, and the only way my Venus would conjunct another's ascendant is if they have a Pisces ascendant somewhere around 14 degrees.

A Venus-Mars aspect is stronger I think. And that is because Venus is the planet of beauty, arts and money, and the Ascendant is how we look in the outer world. It can be a harmonious aspect but not as strong as a Venus-Mars. This is where love and sexuality become one, the man meets the woman, yin and yang!

Ven/asc will have more longevity. Real love and understanding not just passion that will eventually fade. I'm basing this on couples I've known with these aspects. The ascendent is a big player in how well relationships work.

I'd second that on the ASC but not in connection with Venus.

Speaking from my own experience I've been together with my boyfriend for 2 and 1/2 years now.

There is a Venus - Mars conjunction, in the 4th house. And not only that are ASC are both at 14 Sagittarius - something which I just found out about. Had the wrong birth time all along. That is a very powerful connection ASC conjunct ASC.

Also there are a bunch of other intense connections between us. So one aspect doesn't determine the longevity. And some people prefer to be with others that have similar charts to themselves.

ASC embodies what the Venus person finds beautiful / admires/ appreciates/ adores or even loves.

On the other hand anything that touches our angles comes strongly to the foreground, and affects us.

So espcially in terms of the ASC I am always kind of confused. lol

I have always thought that it is Venus who loves ASC, cause Venus loves, and the ASC jsut "is".

But I also found Dawn Bodrogi`s articles quite enlightening.
