This is Chapter 4 from my book on Generational Planets. Should assist everyone investigating Saturn in various houses.

Saturn:
=======
The Planet of Karma, the Planet that rules our boundaries, restrictions and limitations so that we can pay our debts incurred by both thoughts, actions
and habit patterns of the immediate past life and the present life as it progresses.

Saturn in 1st House:
++++++++++++++++

You have earned karmic debts related to Self Esteem, Self Identity and Self Confidence.
You may hate who you think you are. You run the risk of creating limiting beliefs and blocks towards progress due to your Self-Dislike. Arrogance and Selfishness could have been a past life crime that led to this position in your chart.
Your way out is to build Self Esteem without succumbing to false pride, egotism or arrogance. The more you identify the reasons to like your good points, and the more you start feeling your Good Self as the Real You, the more quickly the restrictions and obstacles to your progress will be removed. Selflessly sharing is a useful tip to burn off the karmic debts.

Saturn in 2nd House:
++++++++++++++++++++
You have earned karmic debts related to your personal finances and emotional security.

There will be difficulty in amassing your own wealth or retaining wealth created by you, but not much problems with inherited wealth, gifts, alimony etc.
You might be too possessive of that which you think belongs to you.

Optimum generosity is a must for you to overcome the karmic debts of greed and miserliness from your past lifeline. Learning to share is a must as well.

Relationship with your mother may not be the best. There might be some small speech defect or difficulty in fluent speech.

Your mind may suffer from different kinds of fear stemming from a lack of security. Building up courage step by step will definitely help you. Saturn in this house brings the gift of strategic planning to survive or overcome security problems. There is a blessing for ambition in academic achievements.

Saturn in 3rd House:
++++++++++++++

You have earned karmic debts related to communication. You may not have the gift of fast talking or smooth social behavior.

You may appear shabby, and might have an inferiority complex with respect to siblings or friends.

You will not like to make many short trips per day nor travel regularly in your job/career.

Working on your communication skills and presentations is a must to overcome the restrictions imposed by Saturn. Reading voraciously and digesting the information to acquire practical wisdom is another must do for those with Saturn in 3rd.

Do not give up even if you are misunderstood, keep taking the criticism as positive feedback and you will keep on improving your social behavior.

Saturn in 4th House:
++++++++++++++
You have earned karmic debts related to your upbringing, your home and your real estate.

You will not be comfortable about your childhood, and will have to contend with a feeling of being unsettled while growing up.

You may even have trouble settling down in a relationship after growing up.
You may not be comfortable about your ancestry, race or nationality.

Though you do not feel like it, it is good for you to take very good care of your place of residence. Home is where you choose to give your heart. You have to learn to love your surroundings than complain about lack of comforts or conveniences.

The more you strive to improve your place of stay, the faster you settle your karmic debts.
Even if you felt neglected as a child, do not neglect your own family, this is an excellent way to overcome negative karmic debts.

It is wise to contemplate/meditate peacefully about your True Nature, your True Essence as a Human Being as it is your fate to know your Soul Origins or real family roots with Saturn in 4th.

You must avoid risky speculation in the real estate market. Avoid buying property where there is a chance for litigation. Avoid keeping dangerous tools or hazardous material at home.

Saturn in 5th House:
++++++++++++++++
You have earned karmic debts related to all that brings Joy into your life.
Your past life was filled with fame and over-indulgence.

It will be very difficult for you to be spontaneously happy, romantic or fun loving. You will be very serious and will not like to indulge in party-behavior. There is a strong tendency to focus on all the ills of the world.

There will be some difficulty in sexual enjoyment. For many people with Saturn in 5th, it takes a while before they become parents. Try to avoid being too strict with your children. It is wise to be generous and to be charitable for the sake of your children’s well being. There is a chance that your children will have tough luck if you are not charitable for their sake.

There are problems relating to spontaneous luck. Thus, those with Saturn in 5th should avoid speculation and risky business investment as much as possible. “Get rich quick” will never work for you, on the contrary, “Slow and Steady Wins the Race” is the apt methodology to make money. You can practically forget about being a famous crowd puller or celebrity. However, increasing your talents that could have brought you fame will help improve your luck in other areas of life.

You must take good care of your cardio-vascular fitness.
Traditional Astrologers emphasize that you must stay in a house bought or built by your children.

Saturn in 6th House:
+++++++++++++++
You have earned karmic debts related to difficult situations. In the past life, you may have used others too much without gratitude, empathy or sympathy towards their feelings. In this life, you have to serve others more, overcome emotional crisis and work very hard in not so rewarding tasks to overcome regular crisis in life.

There could be routine problems with health, manifesting as chronic pains that take a long while to heal. You may not get the correct wage for your labor. The best way out of trouble is to keep working hard but without complaints. To feel rewarded for giving a comforting ear to others problems.

A Positive Attitude is essential even during tough moments to ensure the karmic debts are paid. After a while [mostly age 30], your earnings and opportunities for service will increase judiciously. You must take pride in your ability to work and try to incorporate a lot of spirituality in your life.
You must also avoid getting sucked into a pattern of depressions by feeling the pain of others when you give them your ear.

Saturn in 7th House:
++++++++++++++

You have earned karmic debts related to all kinds of relationships and partnerships.

In the past life, you must have cheated your partners to have this position for Saturn in the Natal Chart.

Marriage and love relationships can see delay. If you rush, there are sure to be quarrels and squabbles.

You must be extremely careful while signing contracts prepared by others. There are karmic debts relating to trust of others, and if you are blindly or naively trusting, you will be taken for a ride. Avoid paying for sex, avoid dangerous partners and one night stands.

Do not rely on friends to make you feel good about yourself.
Self Reliance is very important, and when you work hard on Self Mastery, you will attract like minded people with whom you can have safe and fulfilling relationships.

And irrespective of how others treat you, be as genial and cheerful to them as possible. Do not expect freebies or favors from others but when you do receive help, you have to be twice as grateful as others.

Saturn in 8th House:
++++++++++++++

In my research, this is the most difficult house for Saturn. Usually, only Capricorn Rising people manage this position well because Saturn becomes the Chart Ruler.

Saturn here makes you think about Death. Your health and your parent’s health may not be great. You might lose a loved one while growing up. There might be severe strictness from your father or father figure. You may not get your fair share in inheritance.

There is too much of seriousness during childhood.
After growing up, you must be wary of Legal matters and Law Enforcement. There is less luck when fighting crime so avoid military, police and government jobs where there is too much legal accountability. There is luck in academics and scholastic matters as well as scientific research. You can be a very good legal counselor or financial advisor as you will show the Path without crime.

With other afflictions in the chart, you can become a victim of unknown circumstances or even dark occult. There will be difficulty when doing business with other people’s money. It is advisable to not fall prey to loan sharks or big banks. Ideally, work with your own resources, keep greed in check and use New Age techniques of the Mind to overcome the harsh karmic debts that fated this Saturn position in your chart.

The advantage of this position is that once most karmic debts are paid, truckloads of good experiences occur as karmic reward for patient perseverance.

Saturn in 9th House:
+++++++++++++++
In the past life, you did not do justice to your gained knowledge. You refused to share wisdom.

Traditionally, this is a good placement as Saturn here disciplines you into doing something socially relevant, and on a large scale. There will be fated lessons that help you know jurisprudence, that help you know how powerful establishments are set up.

If Saturn has many positive aspects, then your father would have risen to prominence after your birth.

You may be very religious and know a lot about religious laws and beliefs. You could become a large scale educator or academician. You will have resistance in establishing your thoughts but ultimately you will succeed. The danger is that you should not become too fixed in your own thinking. You must never compromise on the truth for the sake of your Institution.

There is luck in the political field. There is respect for you as you get older, and people will look upon you as a trusted authority figure. You will become respected even in foreign countries or you will establish powerful institutions of learning abroad.

Truth, Frankness and Humility are your best friends.

Saturn in 10th House:
+++++++++++++++

You have earned karmic debts related to career, fame and the quest for personal wealth through career excellence. It is possible that you were an unjust boss or harsh taskmaster in a past lifeline. Or even an ungrateful celebrity who did not appreciate the role of others who made him or her successful.

In the present lifeline, your biggest limitations are laziness and finding excuses instead of working hard and striving for doing a good job. You will give up on a career easily rather than trying hard. Short cuts towards career success are another issue.

Like the previous House, Honesty helps, especially with yourself. You have to introspect objectively and honestly about the quality of your work and the time you spend on improving yourself. Once you start paying off karmic debts through honest performance, your career and professional fame will dramatically increase. The trick is to not seek any fame, and success will keep on coming.

Saturn in 11th House:
+++++++++++++++

This again is quite difficult unless the Chart Ruler is Capricorn or Taurus.
You may have been unkind to friends and mentors in a past lifeline, perhaps you did not share your gains righteously.

The 11th House is the House of all kinds of Gains and good mentors/friends, and when Saturn is here, there will be restrictions to the amount of gains you can make. Saturn in 11th people are masters of sabotaging gains by restricting their positive thoughts and feelings towards genuine friends and good associates. Loss occurs by losing the true supporters.

You have to work extremely hard to attain wealth even though you will have all the ideas and resources to succeed. There will be frustration from not clicking fast in business or career, you have to ensure you do not get depressed and maintain patience. Saturn here can make you fail by making you think negatively about gains, and then the Law of Attraction will vibrate to “Making Losses”, which too is a Saturn in 11th theme of opposite polarity. So a positive attitude and a friendly nature irrespective of any hardships are necessary for you.
Life usually gets better after 30 [after the Saturn Return], but do not drop your guard when good occurs. Keep up the generosity without seeking personal credits or attention. Philanthropy is recommended when you strike it big, and giving credit to others [especially friends and mentors] will always help you.

Saturn in 12th House:
+++++++++++++++
This is one of the most mysterious positions for Saturn. You could have either been a unpunished criminal in a past lifeline or would have done penance demanding full enlightenment in your past lifeline. Vedic Texts speak of Saturn in 12th destroying the good effects of every other planet in the 11th House of Prince Meghnad, the brother of Demon King Raavana. This is an amazing clue. Saturn in 12th is designed to destroy the Arrogant by taking everything away, by making all their hard work come to naught, so that they can align their Mind to God. The Hermit or any Detached person [detached from material attachments] will gain amazing wisdom with this placement. Yet, a criminal of the past can get immersed in sin, Ted Bundy has Saturn in 12th, just to warn us of the dangers.

The 12th House rules Mental Confinement, Imprisonment and Loss. Thus, fated “prison sentences” or deliberate choice of isolation and being reclusive can occur here. I have seen emotional isolation of the extreme kind when people have Saturn in 12th.

Sudden suicides are another danger. The Soul wants release, Saturn restricts connection to the Collective Unconscious, and the frustration/stressful thoughts could lead to suicidal impulses, strange deaths or rampant Self Sabotage, far worse than Saturn in 6th.

This is what could have happened to Sylvia Plath (suicide), OJ Simpson (self sabotage), Michael J Fox (Parkinson’s Syndrome), Anne Boleyn (executed), Isadora Duncan (horrifying accidental death).
You must seek the bliss of Spiritual Practice and Selfless Service with this position. This is the only way for your happiness .

Um, seems kind of negative. Had to have cheated? It's not that black and white in my opinion and it touches only upon 1 or 2 past lives whereas the soul's journey transcends hundreds.

This is SO true for me, IQ. How did you get all of these, seemingly, separate factors such as mother and academic achievements lol

I can't wait for the book. Are you going to sell it on Amazon?

Hi Ami,
Have a dozen more essays to add, the generational planets part is complete almost 100 pages.
Synastry and Composite involving Generational Planets is still incomplete.
Hope to sell it on Whatsmyalternative.com as an e-book.
This is based on many years of analysis of real people.

@SDragon: True point about Souls but in the present life Natal Chart, Saturn is showing us the most relevant negativity of our own making as Karmic Debts.
We can choose to be in denial but we still have to "Do our Saturn" to overcome the negativity in our life. Otherwise, the lessons keep repeating without interruption every 7.25 years when Transit Saturn makes a square to Natal Saturn.

Very accurate description of 4H Saturn. What about the transits? If a person is going through a Saturn transit in a certain house, will the transit be easier if that person does the things that youve mentioned for that house during that time?

Thank you for the snippet and info coming up. Seems like I need to gear my head toward better finances and figuring out how to order anything online if I want something later.

May I ask for a slight clarification for Saturn in 12th's "or would have done penance demanding full enlightenment in your past lifeline". You would have done penance for having the audacity to demand full enlightenment or you did penance to gain full enlightenment?

Mars is in 11th (or two degrees before its cusp in Equal houses) and its solstice point is ~1,5 degrees from Saturn, too. What's the good there?

12H Saturn self-confessed hermits represent.

The problem I have with Karmic Debt is it implies a linear transition from one life to another whereby the 'very recent' past life demonstrates infringement of some sort Saturn law. As if in every life there's some transgression that will need to be accounted for in the future - which I disagree with. Saturn in relation to Karma is just a rebalancing of energy that may have become too familiar with the opposite polarity.

And especially older souls, the lessons through Saturn usually becomes quicker and are less seen as restrictive as past life lessons/experiences quickly reform in the psyche. To summarize my own viewpoints, Saturn is actually less about paying off past debts and is more about the soul's development through future hardships, challenges and obstacles (which may or may not stem from past lives).

Best wishes on your ebook, I'm sure I wouldn't mind taking a look when it's done.

Great info IQ , but what do you mean by "Knowing the Soul Origins or real family roots?" and how do you get to know such thing?

I was wondering the other day why Saturn felt so strong in my chart and I think this could help in finding out why.

I have 3H Saturn... you're a very talented astrologer. A lot of what you presented makes sense for me. The fact that my Saturn makes a trine to three 11H planets can sometimes also inhibit my social behavior. I feel I can be too...controlling and taciturn sometimes to do well in large groups. Being both Plutonian + Saturnine makes me want to be the boss due to anxiety and control issues. I also have an inferiority complex when it comes to my intellect and I can sometimes be too formal for socializing casually.

I think I'm destined to hang out with intellectuals! It's not a bad thing. I think I need deep people [Pisces Saturn] to satisfy my yearnings for philosophical conversations about the universe.

Also, I've always been quite the avid reader. I get lost in books. I'm a very talented writer too due to years of hard work...oh look, there's Saturn's influence again! Hard work = results.

@Anonimydarkness: You are right, we can use this info for knowing the effect of Saturn Transits.

@SDragon:
<< To summarize my own viewpoints, Saturn is actually less about paying off past debts and is more about the soul's development through future hardships, challenges and obstacles (which may or may not stem from past lives
>>
This is 100% valid in charts where Uranus is stronger than average. Uranus initiates non-linearity and Multi-Dimensionality [Neptune takes it further]. For such Souls, Karmic Debts are a Multiple Choice questionnaire, and one could even be paying a "Future" Incarnation Karmic Debt in the present because of change of option. Vast majority of people though are just suffering by paying off linear karmic debts, and they can grow only when Saturn is explained in a linear fashion. IMHO, it is dangerous to underestimate Saturn's power. I speak from experience and of course horror stories of clients the moment they were "caught" by Saturn.

@JKitty
<<

>>
In this incarnation, you are meant to grow without belief in past lives and without understanding the power of Saturn. My material on Saturn will be totally useless to you. However, you will make more gains from Sun Sign Astrology and study of personal planets. And later on Trans Neptunian Objects will be of more value.
Do you have a Leo Sun or Aries Moon?

Would you consider a 1st house Uranus(Scorpio) tightly trine my Sun(Pisces) and sextile my Saturn(Virgo) (2-2.5d) and Neptune(Saggie) as the square in a tight Saturn/Neptune/Sun t-square strong?
I also have an Aqua Moon if that makes a difference.

I've felt the same as the pp re: debts, an have also noticed something like "instant karma" in my life.
Ex: "How could someone ever break their pelvis during training?!?"
5 months later, I'll have a severe stress fracture of my pelvis from training.
It's gotten to the point that I try to be the most understanding person ever

Thank you, IQ.

my personal experiences:

"Your health and your parent’s health may not be great. "
Luckily that is not true. No chronically sick parents, and I haven`t been sick myself. A cold now and then, but my family is quite robust healthwise.

"You might lose a loved one while growing up."
Yes, but dont we all?
My great grandmother died, when I was 9 years old.

" There might be severe strictness from your father or father figure."
No. Actually maybe he was sometimes too lax and more a pal than an authority figure (He is an Aquarius btw).

"There is too much of seriousness during childhood."
Yes.

"There is luck in academics and scholastic matters as well as scientific research."
What do you mean by "luck"?

"It is advisable to not fall prey to loan sharks or big banks."
Hmm. I don`t intend to. Actually I have a high degree of suspicion against groups/ banks whoever dealing with unethically large amounts of money.

"keep greed in check "
I am not really that greedy.

@iQ Are people with similar debts usually born in the same family? Both me and my brother have Saturn in 4th and also have hard aspect between Sun and Saturn. All members of my family have hard aspect between moon and pluto. I have also noticed that these patterns that run in family usually involve outer planets. Does this pattern end when one of the members of the family learns the lesson presented by that aspect or placement? If I learn the lesson raised by a certain placement will my child still have that placement/aspect or will it stop with me?

IQ, I, like Ami, have Saturn in the second. Your description is spot on for me, as well. Really difficult childhood emotionally because my mother rarely showed consistent, comforting love, she was so wrapped up in herself and her temper was explosive and her manner of disciplining me was off the hook.

I definitely have a fear of losing financial security, but am trying not to focus on it ...big believer in LOA.

I look forward to the book! Will recommend to everyone I know.

Saturn in 12th House:

The 12th House rules Mental Confinement, Imprisonment and Loss... deliberate choice of isolation and being reclusive can occur here. I have seen emotional isolation of the extreme kind when people have Saturn in 12th.

...rampant Self Sabotage...

You must seek the bliss of Spiritual Practice and Selfless Service with this position. This is the only way for your happiness .

Very interesting interpretation for all houses but especially mine. I do fear being imprisoned or held down against my will, definitely can relate to the emotional isolation and reclusiveness part. The work I do and my drive in this life has always been to serve and it does make me very happy.

The amazing clue part I'm still mulling over.

I was studying my Saturn placement when you posted this so thank you! I don't mind Saturn much but like a chef respects knives...
