I have this natal aspect. Mercury in Cancer retrograde opposite Mercury in Capricorn.I have to watch the WAY I say things. I often come off as very snappy and I've been called a smart4ss all my life. With my Mercury being retrograde, if I have something to say or express I must express it then and there or my Mars vs Mercury will be explosive times ten. IP: Logged |

From Cafeastrology:"You might often find yourself stirring up controversy with what you say, or how you say it." "You love a good debate, but sometimes conversations that needn't be stressful into arguments." "Impatience, especially while driving or operating machinery, could lead to accidents." This placement makes me very hasty. I'm always putting my foot in my mouth. Some people plainly don't like the way I talk! IP: Logged |

I think Goatcat said it best. This is the impression these peeps give off, even if it's not necessarily how they actually mean to come off, versus us Mars Square Mercury types who may actually be inclined to communicate sharply or with vigor and have to actively work with ourselves not to do it. It's funny that this square isn't so present in my behavior since my Mars is in Cancer, but I imagine that if he weren't, I'd probably come off a lot sharper when angry! From the little I've read, I have seen that the difference is more that Mars Mercury oppositions incline people to just rub others the wrong way; it's external and they don't have all that much control over how people will respond to them. Squares, being more internal, are harder to deal with but more under the person's control, I think. Just some speculation... Mars being retrograde is important to notice, too, since that might mean a bit more seething or passive aggression rather than just airing grievances and being forthright. Eh, just thought I'd jump in a bit!

What signs are the planets in? I have this (although the orb is somewhat wide, about 9 degrees), but I can still feel it and everyone thinks the description fits me perfectly. My Mars is retrograde too.I do come off aggressive in the things that I say very often (unintentionally), but I don't think it helps matters any that I have Aquarius Mercury/Leo Mars. I think brash would be the perfect word to describe how I can act sometimes. ------------------ Pisces Sun Capricorn Moon/Venus Taurus Ascendant Aquarius Mercury Leo Mars

Thanks a lot for replying Do you feel that this aspect is not in your control? And after saying something, do you regret having said it or the way it was said? IP: Logged |

Looks like mercury-mars hard aspects are a really Sad aspect to have..... About the square, so is it more of an internal conflict whether to say something or not since you can comprehend how the other person might take it? IP: Logged |

Mercury in Gemini and Mars retro in Sagittarius...opposing EXACT. Plus this is in the 1st house-7th house axis...and mercury (ASC ruler) is in the 1st....So maybe this involves a strong Ego too? IP: Logged |

That's a good question, and actually I do! A lot of the stuff I say seems unintentionally and overly blunt. I can be a little overly opinionated at times and not really fully process my thoughts before speaking. So yes, I very often regret the way I say things. ------------------ Pisces Sun Capricorn Moon/Venus Taurus Ascendant Aquarius Mercury Leo Mars IP: Logged |

Sometimes I feel that this aspect is out of my control because it makes me an impatient person, though I am very aware of what I say. I'm just taken back when someone reacts to it or if I pay attention to what I said and realize how mean it was. IP: Logged |

I'm very aware of what I say, it's just not very tactful. IP: Logged |
