I just saw that my best friend`s Ascendant is different when I calculate it with solar fire deluxe (28 Gemini) or astro.com (11 Cancer).
I have always used 11 Cancer and it fits her definitely (along with the fact that her DSC is conjunct her husband`s ASC).

However, I also read that solar fire is one of the most accurate softwares available, and now I am confused.

(she was born in Ireland btw)

Compare the longitude, latitude and time zone of her birth place used in both of them with the actual longitude, latitude and time zone of her birth place. That’s a big difference of around 13 degrees. I’ve read before that some of the birth place datas in astro.com are not accurate.

Okay...

I looked up solar fire and found out they are affiliated with "astrolabe"

Astrolabe have free birth charts.
http://alabe.com/freechart/

Both their ascs came out 28 degrees cancer.
most internet charts come up with the same degrees.

If I adjust her birthtime about exactly one hour, solar fire also has her ASC at 11 Cancer.
Can it be that they do not calculate daylight saving time? Does that mean I have to check that manually?

Astrolabe has her birthtime at 28 Gemini, too, but I guess it is not surprising, if it is affiliated with solar fire.

^^ Yeah that could be it. Check other places which use daylight saving time in both of them.

What is that daylight saving time btw? What does it mean?

Oh it is summertime (sometimes it shows that this is not my native language. )

^^Probably not worth it if we have to adjust the time. There are free softwares available like astro123, king of sabis or whatever it’s name is etc.

there are a lot of nice features, that astro.com doesn´t have, like daily age harmonics, tertiary progressions (astro.com only gives the tp for the first day of the month), converse progressions, precessed solar returns and all.

However if this is of no interest to you, I wouldn´t purchase it.
(well the synastry interpretations are nice to look into, but tehy are still computerized reports).
