Placements? Aspects?

This includes everything from insecurity to excessive self-criticism to low self-confidence - basically any form of antagonism towards the self.

Sun/Saturn hard aspects

You always feel like you can be/do better, like you're not 100% happy with yourself

Edit: Mercury/Saturn aspects can give pessimistic thinking too

How about the following:

Sun conjunct Pluto - ?

Venus opposite Jupiter - ?

Personal planets in Virgo - ? Maybe not self-hating, but self-critical.

Venus opp jupiter = Too much love...
Probably and element of narcism

Jupiter is expansive planet.

Mars opp jupiter can be even worse..
I knew this one mars opp jupiter with an unholy libedo .

I have venus square jupiter and I don't ever feel lonely because I'm too amused and entertained with myself.

I would say this post is right on the money - also put Saturn squaring the IC/MC axis.

I suffered with self hate since I was a toddler. I was born to teen folks who really didn't want a baby around and there was a lot of abuse, neglect and abandonment.

I have Sun conj Chiron the the 11th square to Mars in Capricorn in the 8th and opposite Uranus in Libra in the 5th house. Then I have Venus in Pisces in the 10 squaring Jupiter and Neptune in Sag in the 16th.

So my birth father was a highly volatile and violent man who disappeared out of my life when I was 8. My mother was a very deceptive lady and never told the truth or was honest - she left a very confusing effect on me.

Right now transiting Uranus and Pluto - then soon Mercury and Jupiter will be setting my volatile T square some more.

I am working on a hand out having to do with self esteem and working to nurture the inner child. I got rid of all toxic people out of my life - except one because we share a child together. Right now Saturn is loosely opposing my Mercury in Taurus....

I have Sun conjunct Saturn within 1 degree orb.
I'm always hard on myself but I'm learning in this life to live a little and not beat myself up.
I also have Sun opposite Chiron, which I've read makes me insecure about being in the spotlight.

I'm guessing there are exceptions to that, since Venus rules my 2nd, Neptune rules my ascendant, and they square. No self-hatred here.

Self-hatred is most probably a manifestation of a core wound that you haven't found a way to heal yet.

I agree with the others about the aspects that may lead to it.

You need to look into the planetary symbols in your own chart to exactly understand what part of you is suffering and pushing you towards self-destruction.

And then - work on healing it, by accepting it and cherishing it, even if it's hard.

I have a few of the aspects mentioned here (Moon sq. Venus, Sun sq. Saturn, Mercury tr. Saturn, Virgo Asc., but also Sun sq. Neptune, Sun on the 7th/8th cusp, Pluto in the 2nd, and Mercury op. Pluto, which I think might be relevant, as well). I don't know if I would call what I've experienced "self-hate", but I've certainly struggled with self-esteem and self-worth in a big way, mostly due to family situations or physical aspects of myself (and especially the confluence of these two: my family life imploded massively at the same time as my "awkward phase"...yikes!).

I used to feel quite bad about myself when I was growing up (sometimes I still do) in rather extreme ways (mostly in the Catholic guilt kind of way, haha), but in a manner of speaking, I've come to appreciate these feelings and feel like they're ultimately good for me. The older I get, the more pressure I feel to succeed/overcome my perceived and/or actual faults. At the end of the day, no matter what hard feelings I have toward myself, I realize that I am in many ways my own worst enemy, but I also realize that this is probably for the best, haha...I would rather go through the pain and difficulty of changing and adjusting (hopefully) for the better than staying stagnant and anxious. If I didn't look in the mirror and only see fat, I wouldn't go to the gym (and thus have overall better health). If I didn't look around the classroom and see brilliance, I wouldn't push myself to learn more. If I didn't look at my bank statement and only see lack of funds, I wouldn't work so hard to get further along a career path/grow my personal wealth. If I didn't look at my home and see a war zone, I wouldn't try to mediate between waring family factions.

Perhaps this has to do in part with having both of my luminaries in fire, but even in my darkest moments, there has always been a glimmer of optimism that things will get better. Mostly because I recognize that I (mostly) have the power to make them so.

I don't hate myself either, but I do not feel as confident as I should. Sun-Saturn messes with depression & anxiety. Excessive self critism is spot on. Also notice the houses and signs the planets are in.

Me too.

I don't struggle so much with self-hate (because I'm pretty awesome, actually) but I DO struggle with how I present myself and how others perceive that - Oops, Saturn sextile ASC!

It's a struggle between showing who I really am and not scaring new people off with the weirdo that I really am. I'm really critical of myself and I end up a socially awkward duckling. I come off as very shy and serious, potentially with a bit of a superiority complex, but I'm not like that at all!

(...Okay, MAYBE a little bit of superiority.)
