I am not a liposuction, plastic surgery type of gal and I'm not really good about loving the gym... but I need/want to get healthier.

What are transits you guys have gone through that have allowed you to join the gym?

Having Mars (energy, action, physicality) in aspect to Saturn (discipline, self restraint) or something along this line like Mars in Capricorn or Saturn in Aries. I've found that Saturn transiting my 1st house was a great time to lose weight. When it transits my 2nd house, I think I'll likely get my finances in better order

Wait for mercury to stop retrograding. Worst time to sign contracts.

I was thinking planet fitness which is a month to month contract. Only $10, which sounds pretty good.

I'm just kind of thinking I might not be able to have the desire to go.

Hey LL!

I'm just responding about the motivation to go to the gym and this won't be so astrologically informative.

I read a book on the study of Habits and how much they impact our lives. Basically, if some activity is already a habit, the intention to do something different will be overridden by the habit. An example is:

Everyday after work, I come home, sit on the couch and chill out. I eat some comfort food until I'm tired, then I go have a bath and go to sleep.

After a time, this is a habit and it's VERY hard to break because habits by definition require no emotional and hardly any mental input. Think about how people drive their car to a place they ALWAYS go. Sometimes they'll say "I remember arriving to work/school/grocery store but I don't remember the drive here. This is the very reason why habits are so helpful when things are running smoothly and so dangerous when you want to change things.

Reportedly, habits are most easily broken when people move house because the place that the habit was formed is gone and now your brain isn't on autopilot. If you're walking to the kitchen after work to grab that comfort food in your new home, you're actually thinking about what you're doing so you don't run into any piece of furniture or walls along the way.

If you really want to motivate yourself to go to the gym and you take that intention seriously, I would suggest changing the layout of your space. If you can only change your room, change it, if you can change more, change as much as you can. Then write down in a notebook your intentions for working out. Write down the impact it will have on your life. Do it logically so you have very clear lines of intention.

Motivation is a fickle thing and working out consistently often feels like a boulder. At first, you're going "I can't move myself, my mind is WAY too heavy to push." but you'll notice that after awhile of working out, the momentum from your hard work at the beginning makes it easier and easier to push your mind to the gym.

Now. . . I work out at home because I dislike gyms and spending money on them but I have found a workout that is more fun than anything else so it makes the motivation easy to conjure.

I have done all types of working out, including sport training, weight training, dance training, etc. Try to find something that works for you because all types of working out are different and cater to different people's bodies. Please please please try to make working out fun and interesting for yourself because that is the path to true health happiness!!

I wish you the VERY best of luck LL!

Excellent post -- very helpful IMO. I'd also like to add that it takes about 3 weeks to form a new habit. When the habit is exercise, there is a biological hurdle that you should be prepared to face. There is a time delay between increasing work load (new or harder workout) and the body's manufacture of more red blood cells to carry oxygen to the muscles. What that means is that right about the 3rd week, you WILL FEEL LIKE YOU'VE BEEN HIT BY A TRUCK. MAJOR sore and stiff muscles, low energy, etc. You have to push yourself to get through this phase and I find it helps to know that "this too shall pass". After about a week or two, you will start to feel MUCH better, both physically and psychologically because you've DONE IT! Yay!!!

This upcoming conjunction of Mars and Jupiter in Cancer is motivational. Now's a good time to start! The conjunction is getting closer, after it's over, inclinations will wane.

YAY Jupiter's in Cancer!

Uranus-ASC transits in positive aspects are supposed to stimulate weight loss. Interestingly enough I have this and Uranus transiting my 4th and as soon as the ASC contact happened I began a new weight loss regime. So starting something fresh with the appearance perhaps.

Jupiter-ASC contacts are often the worst for weight and can point to either growth spurts in kids or weight gain in teens and adults, due to an over indulgence in food or metabolic issues.

Mars-Pluto, I concur, is always good for physical stamina and endurance, as well as weight lifting.
