Okay, any takers? This guy and I have Sun Sextile Pluto Double Whammies. I can't really find anyone on the internet talking about having this aspect. I cannot really see possessiveness of the sort playing out as of yet. But just for fun, any interpretations? I never really paid attention to Pluto before, especially since it moves so slow.

I already have read the Love at First Sight aspect on Cafeastrology as well. It was more of a, "oh! he looks mysterious!" thing for me lol. I read about transformation and wonder about that. What do you guys think?

We also have karmic indicators such as Saturn Conjunct Vertex as well. Though I am not sure Pluto has to do with fate or destiny.

Hi IntenseCappy,

The way I see it, Pluto sextiles are not very potent, although the fact that you have a DW may create some interest.

I wouldn't pay much attention to them, especially if the orb is wider than 2°.

There may be something else in your synastry that creates the attraction (Venus, Mars, ASC / DSC, Nodes, other Pluto aspects, etc).

Saturn conjunct Vertex sounds like a fated encounter, yes.

Thank you (=. Yeah I was not sure. I read a little bit about it, and they are less than 2. I just thought it was interesting. Oh yes. There are more aspects lol. I am attracted because of Mars Trine ASC for sure! Lol. Which is just the beginning of it (=.

Oh and I also looked into that because I noticed his Moon is Conjunct his Pluto. Some Plutonic stuff in there. But I agree with you.

I'm not sure why it says the Sextile is Love at First Sight.

I think this aspect is very transforming. I had it with a guy, the relationship wasnt anything significant, probably not even worth it, but our meeting changed my whole life because he introduced me to working when I was 18 an pretty much a kid. Having your first job is a very transforming activity I think so yeah Saturn/Vertex is very fated indeed.

IntenseCappy,

You're welcome.

I don't think the sextile aspect is an indicator of love at first sight.

It's way too weak to evoke a strong reaction - the energy of the sextile is pretty flowing and easy-going, but it can create interest because sextile signs are not of the same element (eg. Scorpio = Water and Capricorn = Earth).

Conjunctions, oppositions and squares are the most potent aspects when it comes to the "buzz" between people, they're the ones people usually feel straight away.

Mars trine ASC sounds lovely!
It's not too insistent but can be attractive.

Moon conjunct Pluto in a man's chart can point to some troubles with women in his life - suspicion and paranoia, as well as controlling tendencies could be present, although it depends on other factors (how well-aspected the Moon is, if there's a lot of Air / Uranus in the chart, the overall level of maturity, and so on).

its_aqua,

Definitely sounds like Saturn at work!
Brings responsibility in some way or another.
Or restriction, depending on the way you see it.

^Yeah, I've noticed people mention Venus-Pluto the most.

In Synastry Squares, and Oppositions only use a degree allowance of 2-3 also don't they? Some websites say 5. Or maybe that's just the Trines and Sextiles?

Everyone says something different. I am kinda confuzzled.

Ceridwen,

I know.

IntenseCappy,

Wider orbs are allowed of course, but they are not as strongly felt as tight aspects.

Aspects with an orb up to ~3° will be felt strongly, while wider aspects with a 5° will be less prominent (although they can still be felt, the hard aspects especially).

Hey IntenseCappy:

I'm just replying to your orb confusion because this is not an "it's just me" thing for you, a lot of people are confused about it. I don't have any hard and fast answers myself though. I have found that astrologers usually say that you will perfect the orbs you will allow as you continue analyzing yourself and other's charts. Some people feel wide orbs, some people only feel certain aspects the most, it's all highly individual.

I would like to leave some information that might generally help you start out but as I said, you will find what works best for you in time!

Chart Interpretation Handbook by Steven Arroyo

Orbs

quote:
In fact, over the years I have been convinced that the most exact aspects are always the most powerful and should be given the most attention in chart interpretation. Beginning and intermediate students of astrology would be well advised to look to the closest aspect or aspects in any chart being considered, early in the consultation or chart evaluation. Many astrological books have advised students to allow orbs* as large as 12 ° when interpreting aspects. My experience leads me to conclude that: The more one knows what works effectively in astrology, the tighter one’s orbs get.

I would have to state that an orb of 8 ° or 9 ° for most aspects is completely unacceptable because that aspect is not significantly in effect! That is to say, those energies are not interacting with any degree of dynamism. Only in the case of Sun, Moon, or Ascendant aspects would I ever consider allowing an orb of over 7 °, and an orb of even 6 ° is getting very wide for the other aspects. I would strongly urge beginning students to focus on aspects which have orbs of no more than 5 ° in the early stages of their studies.

This is for Natal Chart placements and most people do suggest tighter orbs for synastry. I think you will find what orbs are most potent for you when you review your past relationship's synastry charts.

I hope this helps!

^ MsPrism

I use wider orbs because in my experience they have some merit, especially if there's a pattern in the chart (T-square, Grand Trine, and so on).
