Here's my dumb question (too lazy for Google on phone). What is a critical degree?

There are different key points in the astrological wheel or the chart that are often designated as "critical", for different branches of astrology there are sometimes several points (degrees) that harbor that description, and for each there is a different explanation given.

The critical degrees that are most often mentioned are those falling into the cusp degrees of either 0 or 29 degrees of a sign, critical and anaretic, are commonly referred to as "karmic degrees".

There are also degrees considered critical (and correct me if I'm wrong as I don't really utilize the system) that begin at appx 13deg Aries, (at least) in Horary. (they follow a formula to calculate those set critical degrees based on the lunar mansions and round the numbers up starting at that point for each subsequent sign in the wheel.)

Then, you have certain royal & fixed stars which are also considered critical, (such as Algol, Regulus, Vindemiatrix).

And, another set given for degrees that come with the solstices (called Antiscions, I believe), per sign (etc).

As well as some who count (or once counted) the Arabic Lot/Part/Pars as also being "critical" degrees.

In times long past, the 15th degree of the fixed signs was also considered critical.

There may even be others, I have missed - but, generally - horary, predictive, classical (Greco-Arabic), and occult branches each have their own exceptions and utility for those degrees... it's kinda hard to keep up. ^^;

Thanks for explaining Saturnine

I'm still curious as to what this might MEAN though. If it carries any importance at all.

Oh my NN is 0 degrees capricorn, I'd like an opinion about this too!!

Well here's a fun fact 0 degrees would also make your decan and duad in Taurus.
So 0 degrees of any sign is very intense or I would imagine so.

So perhaps we work especially hard to achieve the traits related to our sign?

I am incredibly ambitious , and have great work ethic. I've been working since, well forever! I use to find ways to make money as a child.
It probably helps that I have saturn on the Mc.

Ooo welcome to my search!!

What did you sell as a child?

I made jewelry out of embroidery floss and beads that I was extremely proud of. I both wore and sold my products lol My bff and I always teamed up created the most beautiful pieces We once had a gentleman drive by and circle the block to come back and stop to inspect our inventory. We were either 8 or 9, but both serious business women He bought every single bracelet, anklet, necklace, and key chain we had for sale that afternoon. Told us he was giving them to his wife as a present...I'm sure it was just a story to make two little girls happy, but I'll never ever forget the feeling of satisfaction and achievement when something I created made someone else happy!

So would my NN then mean that it's of vital importance for me to learn to appreciate the beauty of things in life? And possibly create such things for others? I wrote a paper in my french class in high school regarding the fact that most adults don't take the time to stop in awe and wonder at the things passing them by(it was a book report on Le Petit Prince) and interestingly enough I hold myself in high esteem for being able to stop and "smell the roses," if you will.

An interesting note: my NN is also almost exactly conjunct Anteros (also @ 0 Taurus). Anteros mixed with Taurus just sounds sexy lol
