I'm starting to get to know this guy and when I looked up his natal chart, I noticed some aspects that I've read are supposed to be classic signs of being violent, but he also has some aspects and planets that are signs of being spiritual and peace-loving.

I don't how his birth time, so I don't know house placements, but here are his planets:

Sun: Aries
Moon: Taurus (possibly early Gemini)
Mercury: Aries
Venus: Pisces
Mars: Cancer
Pluto: Libra
Uranus: Scorpio
Neptune: Sagittarius

Anyway, if you've had experiences with people with a couple of the following aspects, what were they like?

Sun opposite Pluto
Mercury opposite Pluto
Mars square Pluto
Sun square Mars

Mars trine Uranus
Sun trine Neptune
Mercury trine Neptune
Venus sextile Moon

I think Saturn aspects would be more telling. How's his Saturn? I don't see much trouble myself, except for maybe the fact he has a t-square of Sun/Mars/Pluto...

His Saturn placements:

Venus trine Saturn
Moon sextile Saturn
Jupiter square Saturn

How troubling are the Sun/Mars/Pluto aspects? Does it usually mean physically violent?

I have a Sun/Mars square and a wide Sun opposite Pluto and I used to be physically violent. Though it was brought about by my childhood experiences. I slowly learned that it's possible to express yourself without physically injuring the other person.

So yes. . .Sun/Mars/Pluto can indicate violence.

I really wouldn't judge a book by it's cover though. If someone looked at my chart, they might still assume I'm that way and I'm far from it.

Although, if your intuition is telling you to stay away, follow your heart!

I'm going to say yes, he might be violent. Those are some indicators, and of course it depends how mature he is as a person too.

Thank you for sharing your experience with those aspects. I know I have to get to know him in order to really know what he's like, but I was just wondering if astrology can give me a clue (or a warning to be extra cautious).

Anyway, from the brief time I've spent time with him, he seems like a very calm person. But I've heard of mild-mannered people hiding a much darker side.

He's told me that he does martial arts and he likes to run and ski. So, he seems to be really physically active. Would that help him to express himself without having to be violent? In other words, would that diminish his violent urges?

Also, when you used to be physically violent, did you feel really uncontrollable, like you couldn't help it?

You're welcome!

I definitely think he would get out all of that energy through exercising, so yes that is good! My brother found much enjoyment from sports and it made him very calm and in control of his aggressiveness.

I have always been very happy and easy-going but I have triggers, like everyone else. I think that people wouldn't know how much of a dark side I have but most people are that way. We all have our dark sides.

My anger is controlled and it's aimed at a specific thing. If I'm not listened to. Sort of how you're supposed to be allowed to explain your feelings and thoughts but the other person talks over you the moment you start speaking. That ****** me right off and that is when I would become violent.

At the beginning of transforming my violent side it felt uncontrollable. I explain it like a stream. The stream of violence had been carved into my reaction pattern and to change this stream is like trying to force water to go uphill. It seemed impossible to not just flow with the current but it's controllable now that I have made the stream carve a new path.

It's still hard for me to not say violent things, though I do not act on them. I will still get extremely close to the person and speak quietly about what I wish I could do to them. It seems very difficult to stop being that way but it only happens if the person repeatedly will not work with me.

Almost all of the children in my family have gained a violent streak and I think it does have to do with environmental influence as well as the capacity for violence inherent biologically.

You could just up and ask him about that sort of thing and it might give you a glimpse into his background. Like saying "Do you do Martial Arts because you have a lot of pent up energy you wish to expel?"
