Hi there! Do you believe in western or vedic astrology when it comes to your birth chart?

Western astrology:
Sun: Capricorn. - I am conservative, a bit shy and serious.
Moon: Aries. I have a temper and I am very aggresive and direct.
Ascendant: Libra. I like to be charming and my physical appearance of libra ascendant fits with my appearance.

Vedic astrology:
Sun: Sagitarrius. - I love to travel and I love to share my philosophical views openly etc.
Moon: Pisces. - I have a very romantic and dreamy mind.
Ascendant: Virgo. - I like to be poetic and analytical. And the physical appearance of virgo rising also fits with my appearance.

So it's like both my western and vedic birth chart fits for me. Even my chinese zodiac sign, the fire rabbit, seem to fit the description of me. So what is your opinion on vedic astrology?

There's a video on youtube by Vic Dicara that explains the difference pretty well. Even if you already understand what makes them different, it's good to watch. It includes some history, etc.

You can search Vic Dicara and his site will pop right up. The video is called "12 signs of the Zodiac PT 1"

That said, I believe in Western Astrology.

Both Western & Vedic Astrology have there uses. I prefer Western astrology simply because its the one I have the most experience with. I do think the Vedic Astrology can show major life events and transits more clearly than Western Astrology.

Zander916 and Ail221, are you still there?

Can you tell me what your sun, moon and rising signs are in both your western and vedic birth charts, and if you can identify with them?

Zander916, thanks! I will watch that video!

I have more faith in western astrology when it comes to my birth chart.

For example: In my vedic birth chart, my venus is in capricorn. There is no way I want my love affairs to have anything to do with business. Actually, I prefer women who don't have strict morals running out of their ears. And I hate work lol! In western astrology, my venus is in aquarius. This is a perfect fit for me. I love freedom and space in relationships, and I love unusual and unconventional affairs.

And then there is my mars sign, which is in libra in vedic astrology. Those with libra mars don't put much focus on sex. When I read that I was like "lol?" That is just BS to me, cause I daydream about sex like every minute of each day. Libra mars are very reserved and monogonous, an idealise their relationship with that person. I have been in love with so many women, and when I dream about girls, I dream about more than just one lol. In western astrology my mars is in scorpio, and this is again a perfect fit for me. I am very intense in love affairs, and I love to be seductive and very scorpio like. If I was ****** at someone, I would "take vengence" like a scorpio, slowly over years maybe.

So as you can see, it is clear that I have more faith in western astrology.

Vedic is way more accurate from what I've seen with people who know what they're doing, regarding prediction. Both Western and Vedic seemed equally accurate when it comes to natal charts and personality but the thing you have to note is Vedic signs vary from Western interpretations.

For example, Pisces isn't just dreamy romanticism in Vedic, since it is ruled by Jupiter. From what I've read, Vedic Pisces is much more forceful than you'd expect and tend to be a temperamental sign.

Could it be because Libra Mars as you know it in Western might actually be Virgo? I kid.

Somethingexcellent, Ceridwen, if you look at my two charts, wouldn't you agree that they are quite different from each other?

Western: Sun - cap. Moon - Aries. Asc - Libra. Venus - aquarius. Mars - Scorpio. - Mercury - Cap.

Vedic: Sun - Sag. Moon - Pisces. Asc - Virgo. Venus - Cap. Mars - Libra. Mercury - Sag.

I mean, if both western and vedic have the same signs, they can't both be right, right?

For example, venus in cap in vedic, Vs venus in aquarius in western is totally different, right? So... one has to be the right one, and the other one false. Like, I can't be both libra rising and virgo rising?

What is my rising sign then? Thanks for your help!

Haha! Lol @ that virgo joke!

Btw, can you tell me if moon in pisces in vedic astrology is super romantic? Cause I am a musician, and a lot of the songs I write sound very romantic and "piscean". Or could this be because of my aries moon, or maybe my libra rising?

Natal
Sun,moon,merc,mars in Leo
Venus in cancer
Asc in pis

Vedic
Sun,moon,merc in cancer
Mars in Leo
Venus in gem
Asc in aqua

I relate to the cancer, but my natal Venus is in cancer and its a water singleton, so that may make the difference.
I'm not a clingy type if person, or show much cancer.

Mars is the same in both..

I hate to cook... Lol...
It's a chore

Yeah, cooking is so friggin boooring! So if my future woman wants me to cook, I'm scr3w3d lol!

All I know is that my mars in libra, and my venus in capricorn in vedic doesn't really fit well for me. While my mars in scorpio, and my venus in aquarius in western, fits me like a glove.

I wonder, has anyone ever tried to make a composite chart out of their western astrology based chart and their vedic chart? I know that the two have different structures, but would it be possible to relate the two either:
-through taking the date of one chart and "converting" it into another type by pinpointing the date for the other type of chart where the planets would have the same placements as originally
-or finding some obscure chart that can relate the two and form composite ju-ju?

The problem to me with vedic is that the description of the planets in the signs sound like the author's been smokin. Like, it will say things like "Don't milk a cow in the desert, cause then you'll never get a boy". Or "Fling a bag of crisps over the rainbow, and you will find happiness". Or "pray to jupiter" or spaced out things like that. It's kind of funny that it's so hard to find info about the signs in vedic, when there are like 150 trillion people in India. And the two sentences of info that's available are like predictions and not so much traits. And the traits sounds so messed up. Like I am supposed to be attracted to old women because of venus in capricorn. But that is just nonesense. I am the prime example of a mars in scorpio and a venus in aquarius in western, so vedic just sounds weird to me.

Western: Libra sun Aries ascendant Capricorn moon
Vedic: Virgo sun Aries ascendant Sagittarius moon

My personality is definitely better described in western astrology. However, I heard that vedic is much better for making predictions. Can somebody confirm this?

It depends on the skills of the astrologer and if they have truely learned the craft.

I prefer Western because I love the planet Neptune and this planet is not used in Indian astrology as I know.

Queen Salome: Do you think vedic astrology may be false as you can't relate that much to your vedic signs?

Jessica: I don't know what a nakshatra is. All I know is that I can relate much more to my venus in aquarius in western, compared to venus in capricorn in vedic. I just came home from a vacation in Barcelona, and I flirted with a lot of girls. Sounds very venus in aquarius like to me. I don't care about business when it comes to love affairs. So I can't relate to venus in capricorn at all.

And why isn't neptune included in Vedic? Neptune is one of the coolest planets hehe!

I use both.

If I want to know a person's personality I use both.

If I want to know about person's compatibility with another I use both. But I lean more toward vedic astrology for this.

If I want to predict a time frame for something I only use Vedic.
