When you consider the effects of natal chart aspects, there is a timing issue that comes into play that is ingrained in your transits, which most people do not consider. If you have S with JP, (conjunct, trine, square, sextile or, opposition. Or with the minor aspects of Semi-Square (45 deg) and Sesquisquare (135 deg)), then you have the best aspect combination possible that favors growth benefits that are associated with your ego. JP suggest that you have the support of others. S and JP can, also, represent authority figures that you may have to face.
But, at times, if you have in your natal S and JP in aspect square or opposition (or with the minor aspects of Semi-Sextile (30) and Quincunx (150)), then there will be times (in real life and during your transit cycle) when your hope for gains will, instead flip to a time great loss. And this loss has the potential to be felt on an extreme level. The key, in these cases, is to understand where in your transit cycle are these occurrences subject to happening.
In Synastry Combinations:
All of the aspect combinations with S and JP are modified for the relationship at hand.
In this case the S and JP combinations are still one of the best you can have but the impact on you is different. This is the case where a known individual is directly impacting your growth potential in some way.
If you have, S and JP together with the favorable aspects of (conjunction, Semi-Sextile (30), sextile, or trine), then the both of you are constantly bouncing positive energy off of each other, during good and bad times.
If you have, S and JP together with the muted aspects of (opposition, Semi-Square (45), Sesquisquare (135) or, Quincunx (150)), then these aspects could be consider situational aspects. Where the influences can subject the unit to stressful situations that, providing you are willing to work in harmony together, have the potential of bringing the unit to rewarding solutions.
The square aspect suggest stressful moments, with the Synastry S and JP. It suggest a union that has the potential to suppress the growth direction of both individuals in some way. There is a possibility that each of you, in your own way, will be active at preventing the other from doing a desired activity.
I hope, in the case of Sun square Jupiter in the natal and Sun square Jupiter in a Synastry chart, that you are able to see that there are different dynamics at play which may cause very different outcomes.
In your case, with your brother, you have S square JP in your natal and his S is conjunct your JP. That means that his S is square your S (suggesting a conflict of interest) and your egos won't let it go. His S conjunct your JP helps you both in managing your differences.
There may be an easier way to read and understand complicated Synastry pie chart aspects. Pie chart aspects can also be produced onto a basic Synastry Aspect Chart. Review the sample chart at your leisure. It may help you gain even more insight than you currently have.
