I have recently come to realize I am highly empathic, but the curious part is I feel people who are farther away or not as emotionally close to me, than the opposite. I find it frustrating at times because I won't realize I was feeling someone until later after the "episode" has passed. Does this happen to those of you considered empathic as well? For example I am not normally an emotional person, but I was extremely depressed on Monday for no reason, to the point of tears. Tuesday came and I felt fine and stable again. However there was no reason for this fluctuation.

Wondering if one empathic aspect can really be that strong? I have Moon 11H trine Neptune 7H, and Mars and Jupiter in the 12th. MC in the 10th house in Pisces too.

Empaths are like emotional sponges. I think the luminaries (especially the moon since we're talking about emotions) in water signs/houses, dominance of water signs/houses and aspects to neptune could point to an empath.

If it's fluctuating, maybe the transits would tell you something? It's probably activating something in your chart that makes you highly empathic.

Nothing is hitting my moon at the moment. Just Uranus having fun in my 11H, where my Aries stellium resides.

Transiting Mars is in Cancer, which rules a lot of my first and second houses. Oh, but transiting MOON is conjunct natal Pluto in the 5th?

T. moon is in Scorpio now, that could probably point to something. Scorpio is one of the more emotionally intuitive signs. How about your water house rulers? Any significant stuff going on natally/transits-wise?

Let's see... Scorpio rules my 6th house I believe, Cancer my 1st and 2nd (even though my ASC is Gemini) and Pisces is my 10th, and MC.

Oh LOL how could I miss that? t.Chiron and t. Neptune are transiting over my 10th house right now and in close proximity.

t.Mars is in Cancer, and so is t.Jupiter. So they are transiting over my 1st and 2nd houses.

You have a lot of watery stuff going on, which might explain it. Your 4th, 8th and 12th could also be revealing. Oh, and your 9th house-- the spiritual house too.

9th house is ruled by Aquarius but empty natally and transit wise. Still useful?

Yea, that moon/Neptune thing will get ya all of the time.

We empaths are often tuned into other folks, more than those close to us because we are so intuned to our close ones already.

Then somebody we dont know comes by and ZAPP!

You have learn to control your intake of feelings, else it will kill ya, like it has nearly done me..

Hm, I guess I'll let the experts dissect it further? HAHA I'm sorry I couldn't be of much help.

But, I'm also quite empathic. I have a Pisces moon in the 9th, conjunct MC, sextile neptune. 4th house ruler mercury square the moon and trine chiron, 8th house ruler Saturn in Aqua in the 8th, 10th house ruler neptune conj uranus and NN sextile moon in the 7th. 12th house ruler venus in the 4th. Sun in Scorp too in the 5th trine moon and sextile neptune.

To sum it up, I have a lot of water going on natally. You're fire/earth/air, if I remember correctly? fire signs can be pretty intuitive too.

Yes. I guess I always forget fire signs can be empathic even though they've got that whole "ego" thing going on and aren't comprised of water. But they're still an emotional element.

What I want to know is about other's empathic experiences. How do you deal with them, and do you ever feel like you're making excuses for your own behavior? How intense is your empathy?

I think Neptune in the natal is the key planet that allows one to be an empath. It will also allow for creativity imo

@Hanna, I have attributed it to being moody, tbh. Water natives like myself can be highly emotional and sensitive haha

There are times when I become inexplicably sad, frustrated etc for no valid reason too. I realize that I have been absorbing the vibes of others around me. I haven't done anything about it actually hahaha. However, I'm pretty good at catching on to other people's moods, even when masked with a big smile.

Same here for me-I am going through this right now and desparately trying to shut down or tamper feelings I am having right now.

Hippichick we seem to have a lot in common chart wise.

Do you have to be around them in order to feel them? It happens to me but most commonly with people that are geographically far away.

its definitely a water sign thing lol. neptune as well, as it can help you imagine what its like in another persons shoes.
im amazing at picking up all those little social cues and hidden feelings and usually the hidden pain in peoples hearts because of all the pisces in my chart. moon mars and venus in pisces, and i have moon trine pluto as well so that definitely helps with the empathy and near seemingly psychic powers i have of others.

Sun Aries Moon Pisces
Mars Pisces Venus Pisces
Mercury Aries Jupiter in Virgo
Saturn in Aquarius Pluto in Scorpio
Neptune and Uranus in Capricorn

Ya gotta learn to protect yourself, hon...you must learn discrimination as to whose energies you choose to engage in and visualization is a great tool, if you can
remember to do it, which I, sadly, dont often remember to do....

I am going to reference this thread only cause I dont want to repeat myself, but this is what I do.

Spirits, entities, energies of humans all the same thing....

be blessed!

Interesting about the headaches-I have suffered from migraines since I was 15 and no neurologist can determine why. Lately they have been out of control and my emotions also, my mind races, I feel frantic and can't sleep-this is totally unlike me as I am usually a pretty calm strong individual. The past month has been literally kicking my butt emotionally and I can't figure out why.

I can sense the atmosphere around me very well, but only pick up empathic feelings when I am either dealing with another person or if another person is thinking of me. The more emotional the content, the more I pick it up.

The more you focus and become aware of your own 'normal' emotional state, the more you can tell what is your emotions and what you're feeling or picking up from others. When I get too drained, I usually let my Taurus sun kick in and I become introverted and my responses are 1-2 word answers which tells others to leave me alone.

Moon in Pisces / Moon sq. Neptune (Sagittarius)

I think it's due to your Moon-Neptune, I've got Moon-Neptune as well and I'm an empath. T. Moon in your 6th house could play some role as well, I've read that transits also affect the opposite house which is 12th.

In what way do you have moon/Neptune? Do they form an aspect? Which one?

I recently found out I was an empath
and I can't believe all that time I thought they were all my own emotions and I was bi-polar or something. I still have trouble deciphering whether feelings that appear are my own but .. alas, it is a journey

aspects I think that contribute to my empath ability: 4th house moon conjunct saturn, 8th house mars, 12th house venus, sun trine neptune (EXACT), 3rd house neptune, 1st house pluto conjunct asc, cancer MC

Can someone clarify what makes one an empath?

I have always struggled with what I associated with empathy. I remember when I was younger if I was on the bus I would arrive at home or work crying. It was overwhelming, like an extreme feeling of loneliness and hopelessness that wasn't about me.

With those close to me, when they are hurting, I get physically sick. And feel like an overwhelming depression, which vanishes when they feel better.

This I would think is just being an empathetic person- what makes one an empath?

^ I'd like to know about this too.
Am probably not an empath but still curious.

Oh and I don't think you can feel another person's emotions out of the blue.

I'm extremely moody but I really, really don't think it's because I'm picking up on other people's feelings.. that's just.. non sense.

My feelings are *my* feelings.
They are subjective.
They happen in my body / mind.

I don't understand why you'd wanna think that *your* emotions are actually someone else's (?) Maybe to feel better? Like when you're feeling really sad and you go "Oh it's because so and so is feeling sad, I'm not actually feeling sad!" Umm..

If someone has some arguments against my statement, I'm all ears.
