I often see the word “karmic” thrown around this forum. As I’ve said before I’m not spiritual at all and I don’t really have a good concept of what karma is. I know what it means by definition but I have a hard time “getting it”.

As much I’d hate to sound ignorant can someone please explain how karma supposedly works and especially what karmic aspects are?

I often see Saturn aspects labeled as karmic but I’ve also read that all the outer planets are supposedly karmic.

I’m not being cynical, I’m genuinely interested in learning and assimilating this concept.

Saturn is the lord of karma while the outer planets, I wouldn't say so. The Moon and her nodes would be second in karma.

Any ways, the way I take it, karma is everything you put out - your energy, your actions, your thoughts and words - which all attracts back at you. And in reincarnation, karma lasts a long time too. Say you were an extremely abusive spouse in one life and then you died at the ripe age of 90. Perhaps in your next life or the life after that, you might be born into a world of suffering - suddenly, you may be the abused spouse, or perhaps you're born into poverty, or you have a terminal illness. Consider it repayment, that's karma.

It works the other way too. You can do lots of good and even if it doesn't pay off in your current life, you may experience it in the next one or in the afterlife. Karma is a wheel and the wheel keeps turning. You can erase karma though, through love - Linda Goodman believe that.

And about karmic aspects, a karmic aspect in a natal can divulge what your karma is like or what kind of karma you are facing in this life - maybe it can even tell you about previous lives. In synastry/composites, a karmic aspect can mean many things as well, prominently that karma, or fate/destiny itself, is drawing you two together for whatever reason - perhaps you are to learn from each other, or one is going to teach a lesson to the other, or even you were important people to one another in past lives and this life is just another ripple of your soul-level relationship, etc.

Hoo! That's a lot to take in, eh?

I can definitely agree with the idea that everything you do has some kind of consequence. Like an action-reaction paradigm. I can get into the idea that everything that happens has some kind process and synchronism like a system.

However the idea of reincarnation doesn't sit well with me. I don't really believe in past lives and the afterlife. It sounds really romantic but I just can't comprehend it.

Karmic aspects have a past life connection.
The energy is familiar, it's been together before especially family members.
This energy gravitates towards each other as in friends, etc
Quite often there is Karmic debt to work out.

If you want to understand Karma check out anything by Martin Schullmann.
