I'll give you one example.

Intuition I've read is more about knowing what you should/shouldn't do.
I just lump a bunch of stuff into the label "intuition".

Anyway, something that happens to me quite a bit.
There is this guy at work that when he first started.
Before I had spoken to him, knew his name, etc. I didn't like him. I'm wrong about that sometimes so I always give them an opportunity to prove me wrong or right.
I was right. He was arrogant and belittles people. I was far from the only one who didn't like him once they go to know him. In fact, I can think of more people who don't than do. For me, it was instant just from first look. Something inside that I honestly can't explain because it's not like a voice or anything. Not even emotion. More like knowledge obtained before it's proven. Something along those lines.

Intuition can work either way. It can be a bad feeling about someone or something, or, it can be good. It's a way of knowing something a priori.

I like those intuition stories where someone thought their intuition was wrong then something quirky happens and they find out they were right all along.

I've got a bunch of 'em! Not all are dramatic necessarily. Some are not like/disliking someone but just personality traits.
Oh, there was a second guy too. Same kind of story.
Sometimes it's just knowing that there's going to be some significant connection with a person but not knowing what it will be.
Then of course, I'm taken completely by surprise once in a while or it takes a little more information like just hearing them in conversation - not necessarily with me.

One was with people who are VERY VERY good pretenders. That's a long, very strange story. They are very kind, willing to help people financially or loan them things, give them rides, etc. Yet, I knew all along that that was the way that they felt superiority. They asked me to move in because I was wanting to get closer to work. So I did and found out I was right. They talked s**t about EVERYBODY! I can't count how many times they said, "So and so is a nice person but this... or that"
They were EXTREMELY passive-aggressive.
The other odd thing though and this also happens to me a lot. I moved in and within a month they found out she had Cancer. Shortly after her Chemo was all done, things fell apart and I moved.
TWO ex-gf's I got into a relationship. Maybe it was several months but them a relative died. I kind of helped them through and a few months later things fell apart. Just bizarre. I felt like I was put there because death doesn't bother me much. I mean, with my mom it certainly will or sisters, dear friend. But I've had two friends die suddenly. One when I was 19 and one when I was 21. It was weird. It's not that I was heartless. I just kind of realized that life is like that and they had to go for whatever reason.

Getting off topic though.
SSS - You get me chatty! I don't know how you do it!

Hahaha, my biggest problem is I don't like anyone when I first meet them.

Now that's funny! LOL
I could see that in you possibly but not in a judgmental way. More like... cautious and protective. Easier to not like them and keep distance.
I could be wrong!

Hello 11qwert1! Welcome to LL

Intuition is a water sign trait
This also applies to The Sun and/or Moon in the Water houses (4,8, and 12)

i think of Aquas and Caps as being intuitive as well as water signs. They just seem to know exactly what's going on in any given situation. Perhaps even better than waster signs. That's my experience, anyway.

Perfect example. It is just something you know within yourself. It is not something reasoned or rationalized, it is an instinct. I often get gut feelings about people, but like you said, always give them a chance, or benefit of the doubt. But usually, I am right (at least for myself). I think intuition is like a personal barometer which can protect you, steer you in the right direction, and have you remain true to yourself. It is not something that is always right in everyone's eyes, but usually it is for that person. Something you just *know*.

Yes those signs are intuitive in my experience also. They know what's going on in a situation, and with different personalities, but on a different level. I think on a more cerebral level.
Water signs tend to favor intuition because it is so ingrained within them, it's not something they even think, they just know, they feel it. In my experience, Cancer, Pisces and Scorpio are the most intuitive.

I'm also very intuitive myself. When I first meet someone for the first time, I either pick up positive or negative vibes from the person.

But aren't positive and negative vibes rather subjective? What I mean is, I think some people are awkward socially, or feel nervous so may come across negative at first. But then you get to know them and they can be very interesting people.

Intuition is arriving at conclusions subconsciously, because your subconscious is moving faster than your consciousness - it's like putting two and two together without realising the two twos are related.

You're right, it is thrown around a lot... Water signs are often intuitive because their thought processes are nebulous and feeling-based, so logic doesn't apply and they realise things without having to think about it.

I see where you are coming from with this. But what I was trying to say is that when I'm in a certain environment and pick up a vibe and find out at the end that I was right about that person or environment.

"You know what you know what you know." That's how I describe it. To me that's the difference between thoughts and intuition. With intuition, you're certain of what you know, even if it flies in the face of logic. You just KNOW.

If you can, make it a point to remember (or write it down) when you get those intuitive feelings and what they were about. A lot of times, you'll find that you get confirmation in some way that your feeling was accurate and an intuition as opposed to just a thought.

An example of this was years ago when my now grown step son was around 5 or 6, he was out our house for the weekend. His maternal grandmother had end-stage colon cancer and wasn't expected to live much longer. I was in the kitchen and my step son was in the adjoining family room sitting in the floor with some toys. It was 10:18 on a Saturday morning and I suddenly felt like the grandma (whom I'd never met) was standing in the room. I told little Michael to tell grandma he loved her, which he did. Suddenly the feeling was gone.

A while later, Michael's mom called and told me her mom passed that morning. I asked what time and got chills when she told me it was 10:18.

I know what you mean, I often feel this same thing. One thing I pick up on automatically is superficiality in people, or people that are kind of surface based, even when it's not that obvious. This is something very instinctive for me, usually I can tell within seconds of meeting someone (sounds bad but it's true). Probably because it's something I want to get away from in people.
