It probably depends on the individual how much they work or don't work on some apparent level, but in my case they feature strongly at least. I'm an Antiscia queen by my chart. Most people who've stuck around long term in my life have had something at the Antiscion of my Descendant, and some have their Antiscion DC conjunct my Sun, and so on and so forth. I realize that's more synastry than natal influence, but that's the main thing I see out there. I also come with my Moon and Uranus as the Antiscia of each other, and Venus and Jupiter tied similarly but with about a degree difference. The Antiscion of my Venus is around 23 Aries and my Jupiter is at 24 Aries. The third such a pair is the Antiscion of my Mars "conjunct" my Saturn. 25 Cancer and 27 Cancer, about two degrees apart, but most likely still highly there.
Since I've always had those three "pairs" in my chart I don't know what it's like living without such energies and can't for sure say how much of my chart or behaviour stems from the Antiscia. What I do know is that when I did discover Antiscia, it opened up everything in my personal synastry and explained TONS. Given that, I trust that the Antiscia explain a lot about my natal chart or aspects and traits as well.
When googling Mars-Saturn aspects out there right now for this, I'm basically reading the conjunction for them, whether it's directly a similar energy or not. Contrascia would probably make me read the opposition aspects or squares. I haven't read up on them for a bit now so I'd need to refresh my memory on which was more apt.
I'd forgotten about transit use for them as well, so thank you for reminding me. I don't know if I see them or respond to my Antiscia positions so strongly because I have the aforementioned pairings in my chart and thus am as if locked into strong Antiscia patterns personally, but they are important at least to some people.
