Mars-Pluto aspects in synastry are viewed as aggressive and extremely volatile by various astrologers. And several have gone as far to say that Mars conjunct, square, or opposite Pluto is one of the most dangerous contact a couple can have. It suggests the potential of abuse, rape and violence in a relationship.

While these interpretations are, to some extent, excessive, this contact is certainly not designed for the half- hearted and some couples do face the violence of emotions that so often erupt when they get together.

Mars-Pluto contacts in synastry show an overwhelming passion in this interaction. It intensifies sexuality, passion and competiveness between a couple. While there is the possibility for explosiveness, both individuals in this partnership will love a challenge and a bit of conflict, as neither Mars or Pluto are afraid of confrontation.

Passion and power are likely to be significant themes with this combination, but there is also this crazy, wonderful sexual magnetism between the pair. Imagine the drama, intense heat and blazing theatrical scenes when these two form a union. Pluto is fiercely proud and Mars is independent, and neither will tolerate control, and the power-struggles begin.

Manipulation, games and power stand-offs could bring uncomfortable feelings to the surface. There is always a card hidden in the deck with this interaction that is ready to be dealt when the two of you fall in love. Once you bare your souls to one another there really is no going back. The chemistry between you both is extremely hot and steamy, and at times it may feel like the relationship is an emotionally loaded gun ready to fire off.

The main requirements for any Pluto synastry contacts in a relationship are truth and honesty in all your dealings, and the more real you are with each other – the better. You need to be aware of the imbalance of power because what you really need to strive towards is mutual empowerment.

You have a tendency to push one another’s most reactive buttons and there could be a dangerous test of wills. Pluto represents a place of wounding where our anger and hidden resentment becomes poisonous, and Mars likes things to be more open, direct and confrontational.

Astrologer Lyn Birkbeck warns about the danger of playing with fire with this contact. However, this connection can be one of passion and depth, triggering strong emotions and intense exchanges. There is a tendency to go to extremes, and this is a transformative and deeply obsessive relationship.

One partner may be demanding emotionally, sexually or mentally, and a battlefield could easily develop, but quite often the desires of Mars are transformed and experienced on a deeper level through this interaction. With any Pluto relationship anything kept hidden creates trust issues. Mars with Pluto describes a mutually exciting exchange, full of emotional intensity, but also liable to provoke feelings of turbulence in the relationship.

Mars is drawn to Pluto’s depths, while Pluto is attracted to Mars’ strength, and the couple are changed dramatically through their interaction with one another. Mars-Pluto contacts may signify a pronounced expression of intensity, strength, and power as each partner tries to dominate the other.

Mars acts more open and direct, while Pluto is hidden, secretive and is an expert on subtle strategies; both are testing each other’s will. They work best when showing loyalty and respect for one another. Make sure the battles don’t become hurtful or destructive, and keep the passion, excitement, and fires burning more creatively.

LOL There is no danger. I replied as Betty Boop in the other threads. I've known a handful of men in my life who had their Mars at 5, 6 and 7 deg in Scorpio - closely conjunct my Pluto at 6 deg. One was basically like my brother growing up. He would never in a million years be violent towards me. A couple of others were just friends in HS and Uni and again - no violence whatsoever. The guy who stands out - who I've had this aspect with is the only man I've ever been in love with. He was always protective of me and not even slightly violent.
Sexually it can be intense - dont get me wrong. But this is not a negative aspect because both Mars and Pluto are dignified in Scorpio - so it just leads to a strong bond and much loyalty.

People only become aggressive and violent when they have aspects in natal that show they are predisposed to that. They synastry is not enough.
The most violent men will be the ones who have a Mars/Pluto or Mars/Saturn opposition or square in natal --- If they happen to meet a woman with her Moon or Venus on their Mars --- that would be good reason for her to be scared and run for the hills - because I've seen countless examples of sadism and very nasty behaviour, with this astro-mix.

But not the Mars/Pluto conj in Scorpio.

Wow..That sounds quite..intense.

I was afraid because I read in some websites that this a rather violent aspect which can signals abuse in relationships.

Thanks a lot Odette for clearing it up for me. Your post lifted some of the weight off my chest

I have it natally and in Scorpio. I see it as a good thing, since mars is a sub ruler of Scorpio it feels at home there and should behave "fondly" there. Yes, there will be power play, but also magnetism, maybe even obsession. It could be healthy or unhealthy, it depends on your relationship

I once saw a sign that said "sin is death" but if "all deaths are suicide (linda goodman)" and suicide is sin, then shouldnt "death is sin" be more appropriate?

It can signal abuse but if a person has control it helps. I want to punch him but i dont. If i was 15 years old i probably would have. It doesnt help that he has mars in his 7th house. So drama excites him in relationships.

We fight but quickly make up. When he gets mad i get turned on lol.

Its sick.

I've never experienced pluto synastry.
I severely lack pluto in my chart so I don't think I attract these types of lovers...

Sounds scary.. I mean I do attract violent and crazy people (Lilith conjunct dsc) but I usually run far away from them. I'm not bound by anyone..
So i've never experienced a violent relationships with a lot of arguments.... I've never been in love with someone I wanted to kill ahaha!

Wait, I have experienced plenty of mercury/pluto synastry.
Probably because mercury is so dominant in my chart..
However it can be a double edged sword, but mercury/pluto synastry is one of my favorites.
The intense conversations is what I live for in relationships and love.

Do you think pluto synastry can cause "stupid in love"

Venusian - Didn't you say you have a Sun square Mars in synastry as well?
Or was that another poster?

It's not that kind of aspect. It's much deeper and more psychological. It's not so sexual in this kind of way..
This sounds like something else.

"What does it mean to your relationship when your natal Mars is in conjunction with your partner’s Pluto? There is an extremely competitive energy between you as you seek to exert sexual dominance, power and control. Together you can be such a willful couple, intensely and possessively sexual, the drive generated between the two of you is so powerful the it can blot out every other meaningful aspect of your lives if you let it. If your romantic partner’s Mars is in conjunction with your Pluto, your partner adds energy, primal urges, assertiveness and a fiercely completive sprit to your willingness to go to extremes to penetrate to the essence of things. Expect fireworks of all kinds."

You`re right. It doesn`t.

My Dad`s Mars is conjunct my Pluto, and the conjunction is exact. No hint of abuse.
In fact he has been always very supportive.

also my youngest brother`s Mars is opposite my Pluto by 2 degrees (and in fact squraing my Venus).
And no, no abuse there either. However we can be quite argumentative together, but it`s all fun.

My best friend`s Venus and Mars is conjunct my Pluto as well.

Now that I think of it, I seem to have an affinity for that. lol

You have asked about the MR conj. P in Synastry aspect. This is a high powered aspect. It represents, high passion, possessiveness, jealousy and, a tremendous ability to get things done. It does have the ability to draw you together, too. But, this aspect needs a lot of support from other favorable aspects to help keep the influence of this aspect from producing the problems it is capable of doing. Unfortunately, your Synastry Aspect chart does not provide that kind of information.

This is how your union looks through colorvision Synastry Aspecting. Only the major aspects are shown. 5 deg. orbs.

Planet and color code, in both directions:

S = ego energy
MR = raw energy
P = passionate energy
Asc = showmanship energy

Yellow boxes = high priority position for favorable major aspects.

Green column and row = emotions

Black column and row = North Node = groups of people that you know and do not know.

Gray column and row = communication channels

Black Aspects Not In NN columns = strong influences that could lead to physical fighting and separation.

Inner Box (VE on VE to JP on JP) = the core of the unit, favorable aspects in this area are very good indicators of success.

============================

You are drawn together by MR conj. P

You are being held together by:

M conj. M - two peas in a pod kind of thing. Very good for emotional togetherness.

MY tri. M - ability to favorably express your positions with each other

VE tri. M - this is the M willingness to comfort VE

JP conj. UR - fantastic ability to communicate between you!

If you stayed together what would happen?

MR sext. SA - you do what you can to help each other.

JP sqr. M - there may be a strong dislike of the direction the union may be going.

SA tri. VE - VE feel secure with SA, SA likes this.

SA tri. JP - your tenacity to stay together may produce some growth.

SA conj. SA - you both feel the frustrations of the union equally so. And this will be expressed thru M conj. M.

SA sqr. MR - outside influences will prevent you from moving forward. That will stimulate your frustrations thru:

SA sqr. P - bitter disputes

MY conj. MR - the potential of bitter intense arguments. And this would be supported by another

P sqr. SA - bitter disputes.

The bottome line:

At the beginning, this may be a very hard union to walk away from because of your ability to relate so well to each other. But, over time, unfavorable circumstances outside of your control may weigh heavy on the unit, preventing the kind of growth you might like to see yourselves in. Your devotion to each other can become strong, so much so that if one of you tried to part ways, the ensuing battle to part may become intensely disruptive to you both.

You may be able to do better.

There may be an easier way to read and understand complicated Synastry pie chart aspects. Pie chart aspects can also be produced onto a basic Synastry Aspect Chart, a color coded chart. Review the sample chart at your leisure. It may help you gain even more insight than you currently have.
