What aspects/placements would indicate a keen interest in yoga? And being good at it?

Been practicing yoga since I was small.

Is it Jupiter?

I think you are either born into it, or the interest comes from somewhere else (perhaps past life).

I was most interested in Raja yoga and think it had to do with Uranus conjunct my MC.

I shoudve been somone who followed the Irish Catholic path of my anscestors, but it just didnt feel right.

Maybe Mars?

I have Mars in Gemini. I can't do yoga for an extended period of time to save my life. I need variety and have discovered zillions of alternative exercises and practices, jumping on trampoline to Tai chi to dancing to breathing exercises. You name it I have done some form of it, or at least interested in it

I love and absolutely admire the devoted yoga though! I know it feels pretty awesome

My ultimate goal is to find a beautiful balance among all practices - moon in Libra

As for aspects that show a keen interest in the many paths of Yoga, i think there are too many astrological avenues to go down. I went so far as to live on a US ashram (originally started by an enlightened Hindu Yogi - a long time ago), but i would not relate that to my Jupiter placement. Some things go beyond astrology.

There's a lot more to Yoga than Hatha Yoga (the postures). Westerners only know yoga as that - something they do at the gym. It goes much deeper than that. Hatha Yoga is the most basic yoga.

No, I was born into it. I learned it with my dad. Both my sister and I have diplomas in yoga.

Yes there are multiple forms of yoga as per Patanjali's principles.

pranayama is suspending breath
pratyahara deal with the internal organs
dharana is focusing on a single object could be a flame.
dhyana is meditation
or
asana which means ''seat''

on top of my head

Thank you for sharing Jess. I have heard of these concepts and never have been really able to put it all together - the whole yoga perspective

So how do we 'do' Karmic yoga? How do we 'know' the knowledge yoga? And how do we 'create' devotion? And towards what? Hope the question makes sense :-(

Dear Lord no. I Could never do that. I don't think anyone could. That's a tall order.

LOL

I could put a reading list together. At this point, that's about all I am prepared to do.

I don't share that part of my with many others. If you are truly interested, the path will open up to you. That's all I can say.

I'll look through my books tomorrow and post some titles you might be interested in.

I have underestimated the power of Jupiter in my chart

Thanks T, I will certainly check out that list

It's fascinating that you went to an Ashram! I should mention that I have always wanted to go one.. Specially when I was going through dark nights of the soul

I really admire many characteristics of Yogis :-)

Jess

Where is your Jupiter?

Btw, it's great that you have a yogic family! That's pretty rare in the West

I do yoga because it's helping me increase my flexibility, kinda superficial reasoning.

I'm so jealous of people that can turn into pretzels

Let's say am not from India
I live in the east though.

I think I have always experienced my Jupiter, I realized just how much I took Guru for granted. But luck particularly shines bright on me whenever I travel abroad. You won't imagine how much lol

Please don't try this on your couch!

Not advised to do yoga on a soft surface.

I have a 3rd house Virgo jupiter, trining uranus and neptune, opposite moon and square 6th house mercury.

12th House placements .. N.node in the 12th gives me an interest in yoga. Scorpio maybe because of the spiritualy involved. Any sign really can have an interest in yoga, but the more spiritual signs would lean towards it
