I found this term in the Moon cusp thread, did some research and...
http://www.astrosoftware.com/What%20is%20Parallax.htm http://www.astrowisdom.net/articles/parallax-correction.htm

I calculated my parallax Moon here: http://www.mysticscripts.com/astrology/western-astrology/lunar-parallax/ and it says it's in the next sign. My non-parallax Moon is at the 29th degree.

But I'm still not sure which position is more important. Can you help me figure it out?

Parallax doesn't sound important to me. It's where the Moon would be when viewed from the centre of the earth. You weren't born in the centre of the earth, were you? So why consider it? It's like calculating where the Moon would be if viewed from the opposite side of the earth - sure it's an interesting fact, but it's irrelevant to you.

Actually the usual (non parallax) calculation of the Moon calculates it from the centre of the earth.

But parallax is not geocentric, it's the other way round

quote:
The Moon position normally used in astrology is based on where the Moon is from the point of view of the center of the Earth, and is therefore a "compromise" position so that the maximum difference of the parallax-corrected Moon position from the usual position that astrologers use is about one degree

Ceri, telepathy?

Always.

My Moon is parallel uranus and contraparallel Pluto.

Well, for me personally nothing really changes. I think the difference is below 18 minutes.

Additionally, the Moon is supposed to take up 30 minutes and the position we get is the center. I'm really confused now.

Good for you. I'll probably never be sure where my Moon really is :/

Well, according to Cochrane he seems to not have seen the corrected Moon as being more accurate than the not corrected one.

Oh and then there of course are the longitude equivalent charts (antiscia charts - it is always fun to play around with Solar-fire. lol)

Maybe the centre of earth IS the correct way of calculation, I don`t know.

Reeeeaaaally? I must have misread! How interesting. So my Moon isn't really at 4 Aquarius it's at 3'15 Aquarius. Welly well I think my very understand of my birthchart has been shattered!

Don't laugh. This is a very important matter for people with the Moon at the last degree

I'm afraid defining where my Moon is is becoming my obsession

I'd be happy if some of the LL experts shared their opinion on the geocetric vs topocentric position because I'm freakin' confused.
