When someone's Sun, Moon, Mars or Venus is conjunct or opposite your Ascendant is the Asc person to feel attracted to the planet person or does it go both way. I tried to look for answers but some people say the Asc/Dsc axis is receptive only (the As person would be infatuated) and others say that the planet person will be infatuated with the Asc person. I understand that the Asc is what we project and the Dsc is what we want in a partner but if a planet is conjunct the Asc it is also opposite the Dsc.

To understand how synastry aspects can manifest, we need to understand the symbolism of the elements of our charts rather than solely rely on generalized readings we can find. Ascendant represents how we show ourselves, a mask or a filter of our charts' energies, so that naturally it's not just a receptive point but it's a point where other energies of our charts come out from, bringing then some flavor of the Asc. For example, I have an Aries stellium, but the way this stellium manifests has some Virgo flavor in it.
So when someone has their planets on our Asc or first house, we can somehow identify part of ourselves eith these energies of theirs. They'd also feel the same, but with Venus, the Venus person would be specially attracted to the Asc person, as the Asc person has the flavors Venus likes.

As for Dsc, it can indeed tell us of what we are looking for in relationships, but it can also show how we behave in relationships. Thought other factors in the chart also plays a role when it comes to attraction indicator (Moon, Venus, Mars, love asteroids and so on), as well as Dsc ruler position and aspect.

So basically, when someone has elements cj our Asc, there is familiarity as you can identify with each other. When it's cj Dsc, they can fit your ideal image of a partner.
But remember to always check the whole charts and see what the elements means for each other before taking conclusions, as the same aspects being good or bad for an individual can depend on how their chart is (for example, in my case I might be able to identify with Virgo energies due to my Asc, but it wouldn't click with my Aries stellium).
