What would make one say that in synastry?

I had an ex, one I still care deeply about and often think about, that I cannot stand for more than an hour or so. Being around him irks my spirit! I enjoyed talking to him online or sometimes phone, but I couldn't take being around him. Why is that? We had powerful synastry (good and bad), and I've certainly dealt with worse so I wonder what it was about him...

I was thinking maybe his Cancer ASC? Or his MC squaring my Venus? I hated his style, that was for sure. Plus, it was kinda like I was the dude in the relationship except for sexy time. Un-funners!

My Pluto's conjunct his Saturn in Scorpio. All his other Saturn and Pluto placements make harmonious aspects to my planets.

I take back my previous post. You can say that with any aspect but mercury/mars could indicate frequent arguements

Yes, I think Mercury is usually a dead ringer, haha. Square or opposite Sun, Mars, or Venus as greatquincunx mentioned.

If you can't stand the way the other person communicates, and it clashes directly with your ego, drive, or idea of beauty, well...Gahhh! I have this aspect often in relationships, and there tends to always be a lot of bickering and communication annoyances that can be infuriating.

My husband and I have double Mercury opposition Sun placements, haha. But we love each other, so we just deal.

I also had the Mercury opposition Sun and his Mercury opposition my AC in my last relationship, and we *really* got on each other's nerves, in spite of making each other laugh, and enjoying our relationship otherwise. But I don't think there was enough solid "glue" to hold us together. His Moon was conjunct my South Node...

Okay, we have:

Moon sq Moon 6°separating
Moon semisq Mercury exact
Jupiter sq Mars exact
Saturn inconj. Mars 1°
NN/Chiron sq Mercury 3°
Chiron inconj. Saturn 2°

Could one of those factors be the breaker? What's so crazy is that I *heart* this guy...in a perfect world I'd want him to be my husband, but I know I'd wind up slapping the **** out of him on a regular basis.

We also have a 5° Venus/Mars square, but I always thought that was supposed to be sexy LOL. I really did not think about how that aspect manifests itself outside of the bedroom. Huh.

Does his Mars stress your Neptune? That aspect can cause aggravation for your Neptune, and your Neptune can dampen his Mars energies such as taking care of what are usually considered "Male" responsibilities and sometimes even it can make a relationship platonic because your Neptune can, at times, put a stop to his sexual energies, though it sounds like that didn't happen.

Wow, that's good GV! My Mars is semi-square his Neptune 2°18' orb. And there would be "off" times between us--if I wanted to be intimate, he'd want to cuddle. That happened especially if we'd gotten into an argument and hadn't seen each other in a while. He would only want to cuddle and not have a desire to go any further than that. It was very irritating, and I often felt like "the guy" in our relationship.
