Here’s my impression of Lilith so far…The Black Moon is the apogee of the Moons orbit, the point that is farthest from the earth. While the Moon itself represents something safe and familiar that gives us a feeling of security, the point of orbit for the Moon that is farthest form the earth itself (The Black Moon Lilith) is more like an anti-Moon… And opposite to the Moon in symbolism in many ways… It represents something dark, scary, and unknown but also fascinating.
In terms of image for women, the Moon represents what type of girl feels safe, familiar, nurturing, and vulnerable to a guy… Basically the good girl that he can trust, wants to marry, and protect and take care of… The girl who will (in theory) respect, and look up to him… The Moon supports the Sun and follows his lead… She is the Mother/Wife archetype…. Trusted, known, safe, innocent… (Now if a guy has a challenged Moon, his idea of what feels ‘safe’ and ‘familiar’ about a girl might be messed up… But that’s a whole other thread).
Lilith is the opposite… The women who is unfathomable, dangerous, rebellious and sexual… Here rather then the Wife/Mother (Moon), or even the Beautiful Maiden/Girlfriend (Venus)… You have the mistress, the forbidden lover, the hooker, the ’bad girl’, and the manipulative witchy vixen…. A women who’s unpredictable, mysterious, and probably into something dark or taboo… Like black magic… She might be a scandalous ***** … And yet she has an unattainable kind of allure about her… She’s like a guilty pleasure….
In terms of women’s roles… The Moon is the girl a guy wants to protect, Venus is the fair beauty the he goes wild for, Neptune is ethereal glamour ideal that enchants him… And if the Lilith does say something about a guys taste in women, it probably relates to what type of girl is like a secret guilty pleasure for him… Bewitching but dangerous or unattainable somehow.
Ha ha. There are few songs that come to mind right now in relation to The Black Moon Lilith energy… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAJxOU13SKk
All American Rejects - ‘Dirty Little Secret’ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9qeJskx6r0
Black Sabbath - ‘Evil Women’ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkKxGzm98AU
Edwyn Collins - 'A Girl Like You' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMAo0m4E4Lc
Atlanta Rhythm Section - Spooky (This version is sung by men which seems more appropriate then the Dusty Springfield one)
If you have Lilith synastry with someone, it makes sense that the Lilith person would seem like a dark temptation to the planet person.
When someone aspects your Lilith they 'activate' this side of you, and they can pick up on the energy you're giving off...
On the other hand... When you aspect someone else's Lilith you 'activate' this energy for them, so their planet/point may effect you in a Lilith kind of way... So you never know, sometimes the planet person might be the one who comes of as ‘Lilith-like’. It might be change on a case by case basis.
I don't think Lilith always refers to the mistress (but she definitely can), so much as she seems to refer to a women who is darkly attractive but also unattainable... Or even just a women with a creepy, spooky vibe about her... She makes him suspicious, she keeps him on his toes, and he wonders what she's thinking. She's exciting and doesn’t reveal all her secrets. And he may find her tempting on an erotic level.
My thoughts are that when a guy has his Lilith aspected in synastry it contributes to him finding her intriguing, and erotically exciting. And that when a women has her Lilith aspected she tends to act out this type of role for him... So regardless of who has their Lilith aspected it would create a similar effect. Unless, of course, the male in the relationship takes on a Lilith role... In which case, he may seem difficult to figure out and yet frustratingly attractive at the same time.
In each relationship depending on the rest on the synastry, and where the individual people are at, we need to use our own observation and common sense to figure out exactly how the energy is playing out. I think Lilith synastry can make the other person seem ‘darkly mysterious’ to another even if most of the time that person is straightforward, as bright and cheerful as can be, and not remotely Lilith-like to the common eye. It’s all about perspective…. How different people push each others buttons.
Also there are two BML'S the 'true' oscillating BML and the mean (averaged) BML... The true BML is meant to be more wild, while the mean BML is meant to be more refined. You can look them up on Astrodienst.com using h13 in the add on box for true Lilith, and mean Lilith is in the 'Additional Objects' box.
Interestingly,
In my chart I’ve got the mean BML at 27 Gemini opposite my Venus at 29 Sagittarius. I’ve also got oscillating BML at 5 degrees of Cancer opposite my 5 degree Capricorn Sun. Both BML’s fall into my 7th house.
I think Lilith must operate differently for different people. I’m not a ‘bad girl’ by any stretch of the imagination. Actually, I pride myself on being the opposite of that. I’m not against traditional women’s roles either, I’d happily get married and have kids if the opportunity arose. Here’s where how I think Lilith operates for me…. I am attracted to secret, and mysterious subject matter, I love astrology especially, and yes, I’m also attracted to alternative medicine. I think I do come across as bit secretive to some… By conventional standards my interests are unusual, and so I tend to keep quiet about them unless I’m sure the other person receptive.
So yeah, I don’t think having a prominent Lilith in the natal chart automatically means ‘bad’ girl or guy… It could also just indicate someone that has ‘spooky’ or unusual interests (By conventional standards), or who is strangely secretive and vague to others about certain parts of their lives… probably because they don’t want to weird others out, make them uncomfortable, or be subject to ridicule due to their different perspective on things.
