Hi guys! I'm wondering: what's the difference between a natal planet in a sign, and a planet transiting through a sign?

So, for example, I'm a natal mars in scorpio. But what happens when mars is moving into scorpio each year or whatever? Does nothing happen to me then as I already am a mars in scorpio? Or let's say when mars moves into a sign that is completely opposite of scorpio, what happens then? Do I receive the energy of both the natal mars and the transiting mars then?

Sign of the natal planet is the sign that planet was in during the time of your birth.

Sign of the planet transiting through a sign is the sign that planet is currently in.

When Mars moves into Scorpio, you may feel more energetic. assertive etc. depending upon the aspects and house position of your natal Mars.

When Mars moves into Taurus which is the opposite sign of Scorpio, you may try to assert yourself in relationships, other people may feel threatened by you, try to dominate you , you may get into a fight, it depends upon the house that Mars is transiting and aspects it makes with your natal planets. A Mars in Libra may react differently to the energy of that transiting Mars. Everyone receives the energy of the transiting planets but the way they react to that energy depends upon their natal chart.
