Hi Guys, I'm wondering what natal aspects and placements exist in the natal chart of people who really can't throw things out. Like they collect everything they have ever owned even though they haven't used some of these things for 20 years or they are broken etc. Also, the thought of having to have a clean-up to part with anything they own is just too distressing, and so everything clutters up around them. 4th house sun opposite Neptune (ruler of 4th)? Jupiter square Venus? Any ideas or experiences?

2nd house is the house of possession. Pluto there makes it hard for the person to let go of his/her possessions.IP: Logged |

I see your rationale. In this case the second is empty. But 2nd is ruled by Saturn. Saturn is in the 8th widely conjunct pluto. Perhaps transformative abilities are stunted somehow - can't move forward?IP: Logged |

Those are good answers given by others but I would also think that an afflicted Venus or maybe a Venus on SN. Venus rules possessions and SN is kind of a comfort position that people fall back on, so to hold onto something out of comfort.Might also have something to do with some affliction in the 8th house as well as you are collecting the possessions of others or just waste (Pluto). ^ Yeah I agree with that one. Taurus SN, SN in 2nd house might also have same problem.@ Amphitrite As Saturn rules the 2nd, Pluto conjuncting it may also produce similar effect. Were some of their possessions inherited ? IP: Logged |

My parents-in-law were the most extreme hoarders I ever knew. Both Cancer suns with Pluto in Cancer (10 degree conjunction for each of them), Jupiter in Scorpio, and water moons. They had a Pisces SN conjunct Uranus. I think they were trying to "materialize" all their spiritual and emotional excesses by purchasing things that reflected their good taste (Virgo NN) but they overdid it, to say the least.

Hmmm...my husband has 2H Pluto and Taurus SN. He has some hoarding tendencies like his parents but as he gets older and evolves toward that Scorpio NN, the tendency is to get rid of everything. I have the same nodal axis as him (though I'm 18 years younger...and I think you are 18 years younger than me?) Sometimes I revert to splurging/Taurus SN behavior, but my general trend is to buy less and less. I like seeing empty shelves, empty closet space, bare rooms...they relax me. IP: Logged |

That's kinda weird, I'd have assumed a Pisces SN especially with Uranus conjuncting it would have no trouble in sacrificing things. IP: Logged |

Yeah I'm probably 18 years younger than you. My SN falls in 7th house and I enjoy cutting people out of my life. IP: Logged |

Some people are just lazy. I see people who hoard like crazy but the stuff is organized. A lot of the people on those shows don't really have that much stuff. It's just thrown hither and yon and all in the floor. I don't understand that. I can't think if things get too messy. I do think it's healthier to save things rather than these people who think of almost everything as disposable and throw out things that they or someone close can use again. I've been to the homes of very wealthy people and they DO NOT DO THAT. They count every penny. I worked at Walmart over the holidays one year and it was really eye opening. The people who could least afford it bought the most JUNK. I mean useless worthless novelties and stuff that will just clutter up their house and gather dust. Gotta be a lesson in that. That said, the worst I've ever seen for doing that are Virgos.IP: Logged |

Planets in the 2nd House or 4th House. 2nd because it's the House of possessions and material value. 4th because it is where we have emotions attached to memories, so a lot of objects can give memories or nostalgic feelings to someone with many 4th House planets.I have Sun and Venus in the 2nd and Jupiter and Pluto in the 4th and I like collecting and a lot of past objects give me nostalgia and I have a hard time throwing them out, but at the same time, I'm neat and orderly so I like to get rid of stuff. So it's a push-pull for me. IP: Logged |

My SN falls in my 10H, so work is bad for my spiritual development. IP: Logged |

Have three planets in 4th house, I am the exact opposite of a hoarder. Actually I am very much into Spartanism. Having even too much furniture in my house drives me up the wall. The urge to throw things out alot is always there.IP: Logged |
